Bought it in high school with the money I saved up for myself. First club I ever bought myself. Not sure there will ever be a situation where it leaves the bag. Probably need to get it refinished.

That’s a good point. I obviously hit driver but most of my shots otherwise are 7i down. None of the courses I play tend to be too long.

You’re right. I was off on that. I went yesterday and with limited shots, just for timing and getting tired hitting the 3 different balls. I found that based on the small sample that the ProV1X preformed best. The Left Dash actually wasn’t ahead of the ProV1 as well. There is definitely a difference in distance with the Left Dash over the other two for sure. When it’s all said and done overall there isn’t a ton of difference in the 3 but I’ll likely play the X as it’s just the most comfortable.

I’m not totally sure currently what my launch angles and spin rates are but I know my launch is low. I’m very steep and tend to hit the ball low. That’s why the ProV1x was suggested along with the ProV1 since they are made for high flight. The left dash was more of me wanting to see what it does. It’s supposed to be longer off the tee because it has less spin than the others. But it’s not designed for high flight. She sent it to me just to check out. Thanks for the help, hope the small sample leads to an easy decision.

The fitting was interesting learning about the different model balls they carry. She gave some interesting info on how many tour players play other balls outside of ProV1 or X. Not one tour player plays AVX. So yeah I’d guess they likely always get to one model of ProV1 one way or another. It’s legit the best ball on the market (see ball lab). For me I just want to see what (if any) differences these might bring to my game.

So I recently did the Titleist virtual ball fitting and it was between 3 balls so they sent me 3 2 packs of the potential balls. My next step is to figure out which one works. The fitter’s suggestion was to take the balls out and hit shots from different spots on the course and see how I like them. Well I don’t have the ability to just go out on the course and hit multiple shots with different balls to test things out. So I thought to head to our local PGA Tour Superstore and rent a practice bay and hit these balls on their systems to see if I can see any differences with the numbers. Long story short I was wondering a couple things: 1. Has anyone ever done this? 2. Any tips on which clubs to hit with them? 3. Any other tips you’d give on how to best test out potential new balls? Thanks!

Update. What an experience hitting and getting fitted with Sub70. Can’t recommend them enough. Went in with one thing in my head and what I wanted. Talking through everything with Dan and having him look at and understand my swing and it’s faults I walked out of there with a 699 Pro U 3 iron getting made. I felt comfortable and they weren’t there to upsell or put me in something that doesn’t make sense just because I thought I needed it. First Sub70 club coming into the bag soon and definitely won’t be the last.

This whole thread is great to read. I’m local to Sub70 and am heading there this week to look at hybrids. All this talk has me thinking other possibilities as well. Glad everyone is really digging these and makes me feel more comfortable looking at them.

Funny you mention that. I’m actually going out there next week for a fitting. I don’t live very far from their shop here and someone I played with over the weekend mentioned them as well and had just got irons from them. I’ve heard good things so I’m looking forward to it and knowing what I know from the “fittings” I’ve already had I can go in with some good data to know if it makes sense.

Been doing a lot of research into a 3hybrid. I currently have an older Nike SQ and it’s time. I’ve never been able to hit it very well and I think it’s time to make the investment. I’ve gone through a club championship fitting which was a bit ridiculous asking over $600 for a club. Done some informal fittings at our local PGA Tour Superstore but it’s so hard to figure out what makes sense. What does everyone else think?

How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I’ve been playing since I was 11. Learned from my dad and have never taken a formal lesson. Game has gone up and down over the years. Got my handicap down to just under 7 a few years ago but lack of playing consistently has it up to a 10 currently. What do you love about golf? Because of playing so often every year back at my dad’s club I’d probably say his club is more my hole course and that is Silver Lake CC in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? The worst thing about golf in my region is not being able to play all year because of the cold. The best thing is probably the availability of quality courses all over our area. I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface of the wonderful courses in our area. I play close to home and try and not spend a bunch of money playing. There’s so much good golf going on all over. What do you do for a living? I work in sales for a regional craft brewery.
