  1. I own (2) - originally got the Swing Caddie SC300 but was frustrated that it was so spotty pick up ball data (radar based tech)...should also be because I am using in the the SF Bay Area where it is often foggy so understand why it would not work perfectly. The current one I use ~once a month is the Foresight Sports GC3 which has been working great (high speed camera based tech). I find it most useful to get my carry data through the bag, but use it most after I have had lessons to see how swing changes alter my numbers for both ball data (speed, spin, launch angle) and club data (club head speed, angle of attack, face to path direction). They were both significant expenses - the GC3 $7k vs SC300 $500...but one that works all the time and provides more data is worth it for me. I golf 2-3 times a week and take a lesson once a quarter so my numbers change through out the year.
  2. I was fitted for me TaylorMade P7MC irons (4-PW) 2 years ago at Club Champion, followed by by Cleveland Zipcore wedges (50, 56, 60) about a year ago. At the time I purchased them, they told me to bring them back any time to have the lie/loft checked on the clubs so they can be bent back to the specs we set during my fittings. After 2-years with the irons and 1-year with the wedges I took them in for the first time. I was surprised to see that the lie/loft was off through the bag by 1-2 degrees on both loft and lie (bent more upright for lie; more open for loft). There was no charge for the 25 minutes it took to measure and adjust them all - Great job Club Champion! I play about 100 rounds per year (benefit of living in temperate Northern California is having year round golf). I practice 1-2 times per week on a grass range and very seldomly hit off of mats - the first question my fitter asked me. My clubs are kept upright in a storage locker and not banged around that much on course - I use a push cart for 90% of my rounds. 1 to 2 degrees seems like a significant change in both loft and lie. The fitter said that the forged clubs are easier to bend than cast, so it wasn’t a huge deal. I just wanted to see if anyone here: 1) checks their lie/loft of clubs, and how often 2) if so, what is the typical change in your numbers I typically don’t think about changing my irons until 7-10 years of use; wedges I change out more often due to groove wear - I may start checking the clubs annually after seeing these numbers - is there some rule of thumb: every XX rounds you should check?
  3. If you want to get better spend more time putting nad chipping nad practicing in the bunkers and spend less time on the range.
  4. I play FJ Dry-Joys for my wet weather shoes…probably 4 years old and still in great shape and still very waterproof. My dry weather gamers are soft spike Adidas which are still supportive , it I’ve noticed the material in the heel cup starting to deteriorate probably from the twisting motion that the golf swing requires. It’s a much different wear pattern than my running shoes. The exposed leather in the heel cup is starting to wear through my socks, so probably going to buy a new pair and track over time, with number of rounds played to see when this becomes a noticeable issue.
  5. My friends and I play ~100 rounds a year and walk most rounds. If an average round of golf is 5 miles of walking that is 500 miles of use on your golf shoes. I play with recreational and competitive runners that swap out running shoes every 200-300 miles of wear and wondered if anyone has found suggestions on how much mileage to put on golf shoes before they start to lose their grip/structure/comfort? My shoes are 2-years old and in good shape (exterior) even though by my calculations I should have well over 500 miles of walking on them (I swap out wet weather shoes and a third pair that are spikeless). Any thoughts on how often to swap out shoes for comfort, and if this has any effect on performance?
