  1. A few years ago my wife got a couple sleeves of Volvik Vivid balls (matte finish) at a conference. They were a give away, stamped with some company logo. I just found them in my golf stash and played a few rounds with them. Pretty much right out of the box they were extremely sticky. As in, the surface of the ball was tacky and picked up everything - every grain of sand, cut grass, debris, etc. Needles to say this made putting an adventure, they were pretty much useless after they landed in a bunker, the dirt zapped a bit of distance, and control was nonexistent. I've played other Volvik balls and matte finish balls from other brands (e.g., Callaway), but have never seen anything like this. Generally, I like the little extra spin I get on short shots from matte balls. Does anyone know what the deal is with the surface material on these balls becoming so tacky? Has this happened to anyone else? The balls were about three years old and were stored indoors (in my home office). Thanks in advance.

  3. Yes. Very happy about the birdie!!
  4. This is the closest I've ever come. It ruined me for a while. Every time I stepped up to a par three I thought, I got this". Luckily I've let that go now.

  6. 1st Tie Breaker What is the Cut Number. even 2nd Tie Breaker What will Jordan Spieth's score be after the 2nd round. -1
  7. Awesome club! I've been playing a Callaway Epic super hybrid for a few months now. It's so hot I took my 5 wood out of the bag. I'm sure you'll love this club. Enjoy!
  8. Thank you! This forum is awesome!! And people here are super cool and helpful.
  9. I currently have a Garmin and it is good. I think accuracy can be off sometimes and it is less reliable now that its a couple years old; which is the main reason I'm looking for something new. After reading the feedback and links people have shared, I'm leaning heavily towards a ShotScope.
  10. That is really interesting that using a claw grip affects recording strokes. Otherwise it seems like Shot Scope is good. Thanks for sharing your experience.
  11. 1st Tie Breaker What is the Cut Number: -1 2nd Tie Breaker -What will be Tigers Score after the 2nd round relative to par: -2
  12. Thanks! Good to know you like Shot Scope. I'll look for the other threads here too. I thought I may be in the wrong section. Wasn't sure if there were reviews of this.
  13. Curious about people's experience with tracking their shots and analyzing their data. I currently use a Garmin watch. It's fine, but can be clunky when trying to log each club and the performance metrics on the Garmin golf app aren't great. This has me thinking about switching to a different product. Has anyone used Shot Scope X5? Is Aroccos worth the annual subscription fee? Are there other trackers that people recommend? Thanks in advance.
  14. St Augustine is awesome! You'll love the King & Bear and Slammer & Squire. A few other fun courses in the area - There's three courses the next exit north on 95 (rt 210 exit): St Johns Country Club, South Hampton, and Cimarone. All are fun. St John's Golf Club in Elkton was also recently redesigned and renovated. They've done a fantastic job and it is definitely worth checking out. For something quick, the Yards is a fun 9 hole course next to Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra. You may even bump into Cam Smith, he's been playing there lately. Between here and Orlando, I've played Duran in Viera a few times recently. It's really fun. These are all good courses in the area. There's plenty others too. We are spoiled and have courses to fit every style, type and budget of golfer here. Hope you enjoy your visit!
