  1. Update Heads are back from www.golfwcgc.com. Head pro was nice enough to leave me some addition specs on the heads. Also some pretty big kudos to Toura as well. “I've never seen anything like this! Wow are they clean!” And this guy reps Titleist and TM in house. Pretty big accolades from a guy that customizes P770s and Scotty Cam all day! Well done Toura. Well done indeed. With heads in house. We can now get to stamping! Also, I will commence the re-paint work. Big thanks for all the members that gave their ideas. If needed, we will be going with shaft sleeves. But trying to avoid that.   2. ** UPDATE ** My OCD is kicking into overdrive today. I will be sanding and hitting the shafts again with paint. If we cannot get paint to stick, I'll be going with the shaft wraps from Shaftwraps.com. Thank you for the suggestions guys! Very much appreciated. JRD
  3. Sanded, cleaned and hit with primer before paint. I'm assuming the high gloss epoxy along with the moisture in the air caused the run / flaking on the paint. Thanks for the suggestion though! JRD

  6. I was damn near ready to drop gasoline, light a match and watch it burn. I WAS SOOOO PO'd. But after thinking about it. It just means MORE content for you all. So win / win... And more time in the garage. My wife is such a patient human being. Too bad it's Mother's Day this Sunday. I'll be in the garage honey. Lol
  7. **UPDATE*** There are SOOOOOO many 4 letter words that come to mind. I will keep that to myself for the time being. As previously mentioned, I was planning on hitting the shafts with a clear coat epoxy. I did this yesterday evening after I returned home. That, along with the humidity because it will never stop raining this week apparently, caused the flaking you see here. I will be hitting the shafts with the belt sander and RE-PAINTING. Onward. :.( JRD
  8. Everyone is doing an amazing job. Can't wait to see the finished product. The heads and ferrules shipped will be great looking no matter what you guys do! JRD
  9. Nothing too special. Did the primer base coat and then hit it with this stuff. Rust-Oleum Satin Protective Enamel. I'm also hitting it with a top coat of clear coat enamel as well to lock it in. I'll probably do at least 3 to 4 passes of that. Hit it last night and with all the moisture in the air the shafts kept falling from the hanging. I'm going to get them strung back up later on tonight to hit them a few more times before I start the process again. I currently have them all outside drying as it is beautiful out and temps are going to be in the 70s today in MKE. I'm doing all of this process to hopefully have them hold up for a while VS having to re-paint a ton of times. My biggest concern right now is grip install. I may sand the butt ends down as well to ensure that I have a clean and slip free surface to have the grip tape to adhere to. Fun times JRD
  10. Stu... this is so legit cool. We will need to do a video chat so you can teach me this. I'd love to do this to some wedges / irons in the future. Some legit craftsmanship going on here.
  11. It wasn't all that horrid to do. Just time consuming is all. But I find this as my zen. Love to mess around in the garage. Just need to add a few more layers of epoxy / clear coat to ensure the paint locks in. I gave it a scratch test this am before I left for the office and there was a little stick / chip that come off near where I would install grips. Hopefully that adheres a little better the longer it sits. Also, we finally have some dry weather today. I'm going to have them bake in the sun for a few hours and hopefully that helps cure the paint a little more. Now just need to get the heads stamped, paint filled, installed with ferrules, install grips and start the real fun part. GOLFING!
  12. Update… sorry but no video tonight. Storms around us all day, but was able to get shafts painted. Onto the main build! Let’s go!
  13. Another BIG shout out to Toura, https://touragolf.com/, for this opportunity. Please be sure to check out their clubs. I can honestly say, I am super impressed by the heads so far. Very excited to complete the build and get them on the course. Up next for the build, as advertised, we are onto primer. If you are ever painting metal, or anything for that matter, you NEED to use primer to ensure that you have a good quality surface to paint beforehand. Always make sure to clean your surface before any paint. Hence why night 1, we hit each shaft with the belt sander and then air compressor / quick wipe down to ensure we have a good surface for the initial primer coat. Heads are currently in the trusting hands of Washington County GC and their master club builder. I've been using WCGC a few times on prior builds to have clubs bent to my specs. They do a great job and turn stuff very quickly. https://www.golfwcgc.com/ Next steps for the build are; I will be hitting the shafts with an initial coat of white high gloss enamel paint. From there we need to let it set and then one additional coat. More time to dry and then onto the high gloss finish. From here, we will start cutting shafts and prepping the tip for install. YES, you do need to prep the tip of the shaft by sanding it down to ensure you have metal on metal when doing the install. This goes for ANY shaft you are working with (epically graphite) to insure that you have a good surface for the bonding agent to connect with the head of the club / adapter tip (if you're working on FW / Hybrid head with adapters). Install ferrules and heads. Let them set... Usually takes around 3 to 4 hours. I let mine set for at least a full day before I continue work. From here, it's grip install and then we are going to be set for real world testing. Stay tuned fellow spies! JRD
  14. Update to the build. We are onto sanding shafts. If you are wondering, WHY ARE YOU SANDING SHAFTS? For the build, I decided to go with full white shafts. I tried purchasing full white shafts for the build, but the few vendors that do offer it, only offer this with cut and tipped shafts. I didn't want to deny that portion of the build for the viewers, so we are DIYing it! Next up, we will be hitting shafts with primer. Stay tuned fellow spies!

  17. Right! On two of my builds a few years ago, I was using The GolfWorks epoxy and had heads come off during a round. Made the switch to JB Weld and have zero issues since. Love the stuff. Easy to find at any hardware store and it hardens pretty quickly as well. Only downfall is that it's tough to dispense just the amount you need. But the tubes are 5 oz each and it will hold up very well as long as it doesn't get too hot / cold. I typically store it in the house and not in my garage.
  18. It works great. Just need to give it a little longer to dry than The GolfWorks grip solvent. But, if you're in a pinch, it works great.
  19. I have had none. Works great. Only downfall is that it is a little thick. So a little does go a long way.
  20. Was able to get 18 in today. No offense to MGS and Toura, dudes gotta play when I get the green light. Very excited about improvements at MKE County courses this year. Played one of my fav tracks, Dretzka park today. New bridges and cart paths coming in for 2024! Good on you Milwaukee county! side note, greens were amazing today! Wow!!!
