Dave Gignac's Achievements

  1. I generally carry between 18 and 24. I usually only need one for my round, 3 on a bad day, but I like to be sure no one I'm playing with is going to run out. I play with a remote push cart, so the weight is of no concern to me.
  2. I think Wilson would be the most under appreciated manufacturer for me. They have always made top quality equipment that no one plays because they don't have a large tour following and everyone wants to play what they see on tour. I remember years ago going to a driver demo day at my home course with my mind set on the Taylormade Burner. I was pretty long in those days and I tried every club there; the Burner, the Big Bertha, etc, etc, hitting them all out past the 250 sign on the range, which isn't far today but was long in those days. Then the Wilson rep came up to me and asked me to try the Wilson Whale. I hit 10 consecutive shots directly over the 5 on the 250 yard sign then handed it back to him and you could tell by the look on his face he was sure he has a sale. I hit that club 100% on target and easily 20 yards longer than anything else I'd hit that day, but I just couldn't allow myself to have a club called "The Whale" in my bag, even if John Daly had one in his bag. Huge ego driven mistake!
  3. I made a hole in one this past Thursday on the 8th hole par three at my home course in London ON. The hole was playing 152 yards and I hit a really nice 8 iron with a tiny draw that landed in the center of the green and spun hard left toward the hole. because of the pin placement behind a bunker on this slightly elevated green none of us could actually see the ball go in the hole but it was obvious to all of us it was going to be close. Then suddenly the group on the next tee all started yelling and waving single index fingers at us and applauding.
  4. My favorite clubs of all time were; Irons: hands down, Hogan Apex 50s Woods: Bang Golf Mellow Yellow, driver, 3 wood and 5 wood all with yellow Harrison 2.2 shafts. Used to always joke the first time anyone saw them that they had been a school bus in another life but they'd all stop laughing when you blew 25 yards past them. Putter: original Ram Zebra made so famous by Raymond Floyd and Nick Price.
