Johnwilliam05 got a reaction from IndyBonzo in 9 or 18 ?
I play or practice 4-5 times per week and prefer 18. I’d play 36 if I had the time. Sometimes I only play 9 if that’s all I have time for but I always feel unaccomplished if I was not able to play all 18.

Playing 9 just fits my schedule a lot better these days. Between work and two kids, a two hour commitment is much easier. I just played 9 last night after work and the course was packed which is an awesome sight to see. I am also lucky to live near Bobby Jones in Atlanta which is an incredible reversible 9 holer and an easy walk.

I play 4-5 days a week and walk every time. I actually play worse when I’m in a cart. To me there is nothing better than walking the course and staying in your game.

At 8, my advice is: allow her to enjoy the game more or less the way that she wants to enjoy the game. It is, fundamentally, a game. It is entertainment. If she seems to enjoy hitting balls on the range, if that's fun for her, that's great. As a parent of a few children who enjoy the game at various levels, there may come a point, closer to high school, in which I would press a child of mine who might be able to open some doors with golf to make responsible use of his talents, but until then: enjoy the time with your child, and make things fun.
