Another walker here! I much prefer walking to a cart. Not really sure why other then it's nice to get the exercise and enjoy seeing the course at a bit of a slower pace. The click gear cart has made a world of a difference in enjoying walking that much more.

I used to caddy in high school and always walked when I was younger. Then I got a real job and the only way it was affordable on weekends was through golf now and the cart is included on there. This year I'm getting back to walking and I love it.

I used to walk and push my cart all the time. About 1/2 the guys I play with walk. (old guys at that) The past year I got out of the habit for some reason. I also used to claim I played better when I walked. But honestly I don't. No better or worse. Same.

Our courses around here are an easy walk since they're mostly flat. But those 100* summer days are no fun walking. So I ride.

I used to walk a lot when I played by myself but then after we had our girls I tend to ride since I usually find people to play with.

I usually only ride for charity tourneys or if pretty much required by the course to keep pace of play up. It's all about having a good pushcart… Thanks MGS

Just wondering if there any walkers left. I recently returned to the joys of walking the course. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed the idea of leaving the cart behind and playing in a much more relaxed state of mind. Also, it seems to me that I play better when walking. Anyone else enjoy putting one foot in front of the other when playing?

Funny you should say that  - I told my wife recently I want to start walking the course. Need to get a pull cart first however.  When we were in Australia this winter, we played two courses - walked both - didn't even see a cart on the course. My wife reported that on one course she had 19,000 steps and on the other 24,000 on her fitbit.

Walked every time I played except at Tournaments where carts were mandatory. Unfortunately 5 years ago at age 65 I tore meniscus in right knee while walking and carrying bag at the time. Not fun. Went to Doc had it checked out and got the news that I will need a knee replacement in near future. So for right now I'm using my cart and will for foreseeable future.

Lucky that we do live in a cart development with over 50,000 carts at last check a few years ago.

Bottom line I'm over 70 and my walking 18 is over. Maybe after my replacement I'll walk 9.

Yes, usually am walking. Especially in the NW--when it is wet (large stretches of the year) it is often cart path only which takes away a lot of the benefits of having a cart.

Usually walk, rarely ride a cart. I enjoy the course more walking and that leads to playing better in my opinion. I started walking because my wife told me that if I wanted to play golf, I need to walk for the exercise.

i'm trying to walk more, i still take a cart on long hilly course. there is pluses and cons to both. Hard to carry your Beer when walking and less social too. Hate paying the extra $$ thou for the carts.
