  1. I'm a former Iomic user. I really liked those grips, the only problems I have with them are the cost and durability. To me the Star grips feel softer than the Iomics, and the Stars are definitely holding up better. I am really enjoying the Star grips, and hopefully they work for you as well.
  2. If you plan on sticking with Star grips I'd suggest getting the tape they sell. It's one-sided and I had no problems removing grips installed with it. Install/removal isn't quite as easy as bare clean shafts. I've read that masking tape works also, but I haven't tried it yet.
  3. That happened to me with a grip that was installed on double sided tape. On all the others that I removed I had no problems but those had either no tape or I used single sided tape. I also removed all leftover adhesive from the previous grip tape before installing the Star grips. Fwiw, I install/remove using 60psi.
  4. Lol. I'm a 1.5 handicap on the grass ranges and a +4 on the mats. Yeah, tacky feeling doesn't seem to fade after many washes. I've got an old wedge with a pink Sidewinder installed on it. I'm leaving on my back porch to chip around with. Some days I may just leave it in the sun and after a few weeks I'll let you guys know how it holds up. I thought I read in a thread somewhere that a Star owner had grips that were over a year old that were still grippy.
  5. Yep, I had the same issue with going from white to red grips. All of my grips are white other than my lob wedge, it's red. The red is softer feeling than the white but it's subtle. As far as the overall feel of the red, if my set were all gripped in that color, I would still like it. This might be a distraction to someone more sensitive to this type of thing. I guess if a player is affected by this, multi colored sets would be a no go.
  6. Lol!! That's the truth! A buddy of mine has a set of Maxfli Revolution (black dot) CB irons that I've always really liked. I've been searching for the past couple of years for some irons that felt similar and I ended up with a set of JPX 923 Tours. They're are pretty darn close in feel. I think those Maxfli irons came out in like 2002?
  7. Yeah, but WE'RE the pioneers baby! Well, maybe the fifth or sixth wave of the pioneers, but whatever.
  8. Wow, I never thought of doing a fitting just to try stuff out. Hmmm. I can spend $150 every few months to SAVE me hundreds of dollars...every few months. Should I be happy with you or not?
  9. Yeah..... I'm on a putter kick right now. I've used a SeeMore SB1 for over 10 years. In the last 4 months I've had 5 different putters. SS GOLO 6- liked it but returned it AI-One Milled 11T- liked it but not as much as the GOLO 6 so I traded it for the Squareback. SS GOLO 6- had to have it again and am currently using it. SS Squareback 2- traded it the day after I got it. Phantom 9- should be delivered tomorrow.
  10. I agree with all that was said by sellemental. I was nervous about messing up the install initially. After the first few tentatively installed grips I figured out that pushing the more firmly using the air gun made the job much easier. I like having the star logo centered on the clubs and making small adjustments are easy as well. I use a vise, shaft clamp, and the Star supplied gun. It's so easy, I feel that it wouldn't be hard to do without the vise and clamp.
  11. Nice! You won't have to worry about losing pressure with that thing. I had to do a refill when regripping the first time around.
  12. Rob I installed mine initially using two layers of tape for the trail/right hand and the lead hand had bare shaft. These were the Sidewinders. There was no slippage. The tape I used was sold by Star Grips and is not double sided tape. My current set up is now with the Tour Wraps and no tape other than covering the butt end of the shaft.
  13. It's a feel thing between the red and white, but it's also the stiffness of the grips before installing them. The red, when held horizontal from the butt end, sags more than the white. The white grips are the heaviest of the colors, I weighed all of the white grips, I ordered 13 of them, and six of them were 1g heavier than the others. Pretty consistent.
  14. The green looks perfect St Paddy's or MASTERS week! It's so easy to do swaps. My grips came in! I need to do a slight adjustment on the driver. The red grip weighs less than the white. It's also softer than the white, not so much that it's going to be a problem, but definitely softer.
