  1. Tonight I went to Golftec for a lesson. I haven't been looking forward to these lately, but tonight was really productive... minus an equipment failure. To start the lesson, I told my instructor that I've been suffering with driver lately, pushing and slicing everything right. So, first we warmed up with 9i... which went great! Getting pretty reliable distance and trajectory from T200s right now. We then worked up to the 3i, which had some solid strikes but after a handful I went to rest my weight on the club and start to hear cracking sounds... a little more weight and the head snapped clean off. Welp... down to 12 clubs in the bag (I've reached out to Sub 70 support to see what I can do). With my "fairway finder" out of commission we pulled out the driver and I expected the lesson to go from bad to worse. Then I proceeded to knock my next four drives dead straight with solid distance for me (~270ish) my instructor was laughing at this point and wondering what the problem was. On shot five I "went for it," and finally the slice reared it's ugly head. However, he did a good job identifying how this swing differed from the first four. On this swing I was finishing the swing with my weight on the back of my heels/trail leg and I did this kind of swipe to finish. Identifying that miss paired with the feeling of releasing/throwing the club really seemed to help. We finished the lesson with some sim golf where I was finding fairways and playing about as good as I ever have on that sim setup. Despite losing a club tonight I'm feeling pretty positive! Have another lesson scheduled (outside of Golftec) with a PGA pro for Saturday to continue making progress on driver.
  2. Zach Johnson EDIT: Forgot a reason. Ryder cup favoritism, poor team management, telling off fans, and just generally being a smug jerk.
  3. It shows off how cool my dog is (also that you can follow simple instructions)
  4. Like with most things, you get out what you put in. Easiest way to get picked for a test is to get involved in the forum.
  5. Booked more lessons with the pro who did my iron fitting a few months ago. Feeling way more confident over the ball with an iron in hand, but driver is still a roller coaster for me . Have been tinkering some with shafts/lengths to some success, but not quite repeatable yet. Think it’s time to call in the professionals…
  6. Had a 2-man best ball event out at Excelsior Springs golf course (6553yds, Par 72, 72.0/126) about 45 mins northeast of KC. Course was in excellent condition, great facilities, incredibly pure greens, and some interestingly designed holes. Weather would have been beautiful despite the howling wind, made it feel a lot colder than I was expecting. Playing with the same group from match play, and ended up getting paired with my opponent from last week. While he kicked my butt last weekend being in the fairway all day, we both struggled yesterday from the tips through the wind to find the short grass. We ended up with 84 (+12) for the day. Winners ended up posting a 65 (-7). Had a lot of fun despite not playing well. Been struggling to score well lately so my expectations are pretty low. Still had a lot of fun, and was happy to finish strong with a net birdie on the par 5 18th hole.

    I remember playoffs… LGRW
  8. Ditto, but I wanna join Big and Neal for Strapped
  9. I usually start by practicing setup with gates, and then I work on speed by trying to stagger balls in either ascending or descending order. After that I just try to get a feel for the practice greens, trying to read uphill and downhill breaks.
  10. I am surprised we haven't seen a brand like Ralph Lauren with a large branding across some apparel. I have a feeling that if this was a brand with previous golf exposure it might be a non-issue. While the vest and the baggy pants aren't my style, I definitely appreciate a lot of Malbon designs. I've become pretty fond of the Malbon mascot.
  11. Back to the sim last night, spent most of my time with the Performance Center/Strokes Gained mode. Improved my average to -.55 from -.70 the night before. Managed two in 30 shots that gained strokes against the tour average, compared to the night before I only managed 1 in 60. Really enjoying this type of practice.
  12. I think a lot of it has to do with the amount of alcohol consumed on the course. Seen my share of groups where drinking is the priority and golf is a distant second (or even third). Plenty of social media/content creators that lean heavily into this as well: Barstool, Bob Does Sports, DrunkByTheTurn, etc.
  13. FWIW here's Rory denying the rumors:
  14. For me, I don't believe this just because the money is absurd. If Rahm is worth $500M how in the world is Rory worth $850M...
