  1. Very interested in this topic. I’m thinking about making the switch too. LAB golf and some other brands are making some sick center shafted. Even though SeeMore has been at it for years.
  2. Seeing a lot of people hyping up the hybrid bags. I can definitely see pros and cons for the hybrid bags. If you ride a lot, I think hybrid stand bags are great. Easier to lug around than a cart bag. But I prefer the lighter stand bags. They are great for hitting the range and still light enough to walk with.
  3. I can speak for West Tennessee that the price has increased but not as badly as most areas. It also varies by course here. One of my favorite courses in my area jumped up $15-$20 per round. As a student, that is a big difference. But the summer season and twilight rates have made it to where I can keep playing. GolfNow has also been helpful in catching a hot deal for a great price. On average, I can play 18 with a cart for around $35 on a decent course. When I walk, it's usually around $15-$20 for 18. Since I am in school, walking has been a lot more practical so I can play more for a whole lot less $$$.
  4. The rain cleared up this afternoon and the course drained well enough for my first head to head. Match 1 was between the Callaway Chrome Tour X and the Titleist Pro V1. How I tested: I played 18 with both balls in hand. The first 6 holes were completed with the Pro V1. The second 6 holes with the Chrome Tour X. The last 6 holes were completed with both and to double check any notes I took on them. I also chipped and putted around the practice area to get more feel for both. I tried to get a true feel for both balls by playing them for entire holes and sometimes repeating shots with both balls. I played extremely well today, and my swing was pretty consistent throughout the round. I shot a +3 75 which is a below average score for me. Results: The Titleist Pro V1 has a firmer feel which suits me much better. I felt more control in putting the ball where I wanted it. The Pro V1 also had much more control and stopping power (which is huge to me) with my short irons, wedges, and around the green. The Pro V1 dominated the tee box in accuracy as well. I felt a lack of control with the Chrome Tour X. This may be due to how much softer it felt. Chips and pitches tended to roll out much more with the Chrome Tour X. The spin rate I wanted was just not there with this ball. I did see a noticeable difference in iron distance. I consistently hit the Callaway Chrome Tour X 5 to 8 yards further than the Pro V1. Both balls rolled very true off the putter, and I hit many medium to long putts with both balls. In the journey to finding what ball fits me best, Titleist Pro V1 defeated the Callaway Chrome Tour X in Match 1. On the course, the Pro V1 was the clear winner in my round. Disclaimer: Huge emphasis that this test is to find what ball fits ME best. My swing, my game and what I want in a ball.
  5. I’m not 100% sure yet. I’m mainly looking for a ball to fit me personally. I think mainly field test on the course and around practice areas will be most beneficial to me. Taking notes on what I’m looking for from each ball to decide which of the two is best for me.
  6. Here is the bracket I am going with. Had to set some kind of limit on the number of balls that will be facing off!! Hoping to start the first match up tomorrow if weather permits. Check back later for the first head to head and see which ball advances.
  7. Thank all of y'all for the quick responses and input! I will definitely take in all of the considerations as I explore which ball is best for me! I'm thinking about doing a season long comparison between balls. Maybe in the form of a head to head bracket between 2 balls every round until only 1 ball remains. Test the balls in a few different ways like one ball for the front and a different ball for the back, take 2 shots from different locations to have a direct comparison throughout the round, and any other way I see fit. I'll post updates to this topic as I complete rounds and tests. I will get to work on making a bracket with balls I listed and other balls mentioned from you all!
  8. I am wanting to put a few different balls to the test. I am currently playing with Titleist Pro V1x, but I could see myself switching soon if I could find a better fit. I am thinking about conducting a test myself between the Pro V1x, Taylormade TP5x, and the Callaway Chrome Tour X. I'm also considering Srixon Z-Star XV and Callaway Chrome Soft X. Before going any further, I'd like to hear some feedback from the forum on the balls listed above. Pros/cons other people have found by using them. Things I am looking for are spin control, consistent ball flight, and forgiveness. I want to try them side by side to see what fits my game the best. Balls I am considering: Titleist Pro V1x Taylormade TP5x Callaway Chrome Tour X Srixon Z-Star XV Callaway Chrome Soft X
  9. @walkerdb7 I'm itching to try out the Phantom X5S. From everything I have read about them, the Phantom X5S sounds like an incredible putter.
  10. I am so glad I stumbled upon this discussion. I have been researching different putters because I have felt stagnant at putting lately. I'm thinking about trying a putter with much less toe flow than my current putter. The SC Newport 2.5 I currently have might have too much for my arc.
  11. I'll need to look the queen b6. I'm thinking about switching to a mid-mallet. I love my Scotty Newport 2.5, but I have not been as consistent lately with the blade putter. Might be time to switch things up.
  12. @TCUfrog Very stereotypical recommendation is Scotty Cameron. The feel is so true. There's no question in the quality and reputation you are getting with a Scotty. But, the putter is a club associated with "feel" more than any other club. I encourage you to test as many putters are you can at stores, pro shops, etc.. You never know what you might pick up and try that will "feel" more pure than any other putter to you. Putters can be so individualized.
  13. This is my mini golden doodle, Honey. She is a whole 2 years old. She likes to hoard her toys or whatever else she can get a hold of. When I try to chip around in the backyard, she will gather any golf balls I hit and refuse to give them back. She's been a great dog when she behaves. lol
  14. Championship Sunday would be unreal if this were to happen. Probably best major of the year in that situation.
  15. Nothing better than a major. 1. What will the Cut Number Will Be? +4 2. What PGA Club Professional will finish with the best score? Jared Jones
