  1. I hold my wedges more than I hold my...never mind. I’ll deal with off the rack for whatever else. Not my wedges.
  2. I was just getting back into golf when I went. I was striping my 7i to warm up, worked my way to driver and snap hooked about the next 40 shots I hit no matter the club. Went out and played one of the worst rounds in my entire life. It was still worth it, I had a blast and a ton of fun.
  3. I’ve found that soft chip shots from the rough often get missed, but other than that if the sensors are working it’s pretty rare that they don’t pick up the shot, especially since I added the Link. the sensors do have a 2 year replacement warranty no questions asked. I’ve had a couple of them die on me, and had replacements sent out right away.
  4. To update this: I ended up getting the orange whip and it’s helped tremendously. Between using it to warm up and using it to help my tempo my swing has never been in a better place. Now if I can just get my chipping yips under control...
  5. Used to live near there, Morgan Hill is a fun track, riverview used to be awesome. Agree with the Olde Homestead rec above, that’s a great course. Also southmoore in Bath is a fun course not far from there. Apple valley is across the river in Nj and another great option.
  6. Depends on the course. On number 2 white tees are around 6400 yards iirc
  7. My Goals for 2021 are: Break 80, my best is currently 84 accomplished 3 times. 12 handicap, currently at 15.2, down from 24 a year ago. Play 40 rounds.
  8. I have about 3 dozen Titleist Tour Speeds to play, but I tend to lose 2-3 balls a round (bad days might be double that) so those will only last a dozen ish rounds. I ordered 2 dozen Oncore Elixir after a friend recommended them and after the MGS golf lab compared them to the Tour Speeds, but they seem to be lost in transit and Oncore hasn’t been very helpful in figuring out where they are. If they ever show up I’ll compare the two and play one or the other this year.
  9. I’ve decided I’m going to get one of the two after reading reviews and forum suggestions. I’m leaning towards orange whip but it’s a close race. If you were only going to get one of the two, which would it be?
  10. An update here: after all the extra practice during quarantine I decided to keep the new grip. I finally got out on the course again this weekend and I’m glad I did. My putting stroke is in a really good place right now, I’m hitting my start line consistently and feel like I can make almost any putt. Now I need to get my driver back in line...
  11. When I asked my caddy from number 2 if I should walk 7 he told me absolutely not because of how hilly it is. I was there in the heart of summer and I might have died if I walked that after the 24000 steps I took on 2 the day before.
  12. I’ve only been to Pinehurst once (so far), and I played 2 and 7. Absolutely loved 7, it was such a different challenge from number 2. I picked 7 after I saw MJ say it was his favorite course there and it didn’t disappoint!
  13. When I practice at home 9’ is the max length I can go on either of my mats. I usually practice 4 and 6 footers too. If I can make that many 8’ putts I’ll know I’m consistently keeping my starting line where it needs to be, so when I get out on the course I just need to read my putt, line up my ball and keep my starting line on point and I should be making my putts again. My arccos putting putting handicap is 1.6, I want to get it to +3 or 4. My goal is to get my average putts per round down to 28. I’m at 32 now.
  14. Since I’m stuck in quarantine I decided to mess around with this putter and see if I can work it out. I found that with the larger grip I needed to lessen my overlap and not grip as tightly as I did with a smaller grip. After some trial and error I’m back to making putts again. I’ve set a goal of 100 consecutive 8’ putts while I’m quarantined this week, so far 32 is my best, and I can get to 20 pretty consistently.
  15. If you’re set on a 60 you’d be better served getting a 54 or 56 and bending it to 55 so you have consistent gapping. I go with 50, 54 and 58 personally.
  16. I tried them a while back and hated them. They came off the club funny, had inconsistent ball flight and even my playing partner was wondering what was wrong with them. They got put back in the bag after about 5 holes.
  17. Had my fitting with Connor. We talked through what I’ve played, how I ended up on the tour speed and he suggested comparing it to the new ProV. I’ve tried ProV1x before but never really the ProV1. Interested to see how it compares.
  18. Driver is Ping 3w is Taylor Made Hybrid is Cobra 4-GW are Mizuno SW and LW are Cleveland Putter is Ping So 5 different brands for me.
  19. Fortunately it’s easy to buy Ping putter grips so I should be able to get the identical grip to the old one. Unfortunately I just tested positive for covid so I’m home bound for at least 10 days and my putting mat is staring at me.
  20. The new grip is slightly heavier, and the alignment crossed my mind as well. My practice mat allows me to practice 10’ putts and I’m missing everything half a ball to the left which is definitely abnormal for me. im pretty sure I’m just going to go back to a standard putting grip like i had before and get it back on track.
  21. I have big hands and as I’ve gotten a little older I’ve gone to slightly larger grips to help keep them from hurting when I play. I use a reverse overlap putting grip that is fine on the course but when I practice it can cause hand cramping and soreness. I thought a larger grip would help.
  22. I have a 2’ x 12’ birdie ball mat with one cup on the center of each end, medium speed rating, end bumpers and a carrying bag. Let me know if you’d be interested.
  23. I’m pretty sure I overthought the whole process. My grip was pretty worn and needed replacing. I went to mid size grips on all my other clubs and thought it might make sense on my putter too. I hated the new grip almost immediately, but thought it would just take an adjustment period. 2 rounds and a lot of practice later and I’m still hating it, so you’re right I should change back.
  24. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it? Probably shouldn’t have made the change to begin with.
