  1. Sorry about your injury. Shoveling snow is bad enough on it's own. Mid Atlantic weather this winter has been odd. I play every Wednesday year round (almost). Played today, 41 and off and on light rain. I would have quit after 9 because I was playing to my ordinary 12 but one of the group, an 8, was 2 under parr after 11. I continued to play to validate his score and keep him from getting too excited. Hit it short left on 12, a parr 3. Ball plugged on the bank. 45 degree slope. After finding some way to walk up the slope, I scuffed it onto the green but while trying to walk down the slope, I lost control. After about 10 steps of being out of control, I intentionally went down to keep from falling over a cart path guard rail and into the trees. Result, partially torn groin and bruised hip; but somehow I feel lucky.no Wednesday golf for about 3 weeks.
  2. I currently play 2 muni courses. Both are in better than average shape and both of the layouts hosted pro tournaments in their day; one being the LPGA. One still currently hosts the State Amauter Regional Qualifier so the courses are no slouch; though the tees I play from are only about 6,000 yds. They are very inexpensive $35 to $50 depending on the time of the year. Both have lunchrooms that serve alcohol but in truth I hardly ever see anything stronger than a draft. One has a very nice practice area for full shots including driver with full computerization. The other doesn't have a practice area other than a large practice green. Both courses allow tee teams 2 weeks in advance and have meeting areas that can be reserved. I have been a member of a private course 20 minutes from my house but found the conditions no better than I currently play and more importantly was very cliquish and difficult to get a tee time at prime time if you weren't inner circle. Many of my fellow senior players patronize the muni courses in facts if the windchill is over 40 the club plays all year round and always has at least 50 hard core players in the winter and upwards of 80 in season.
  3. Getting into Winter Golf with frozen greens in spots, but did OK. 11 over with 4 doubles including a rare penalty. It was 37 degrees on the first tee but by the back 9, it was pleasant.
