  1. Finally time to upgrade the irons as my apex19s are worn out. Just bought the S, 4-pw. They feel like the old ap2s if anyone played those back in the day; just so easy to square the club and really felt like i was compressing the ball well. Every good shot felt as pure as the driven snow, and the dispersion on mishits was at least 10 yards tighter left/right and long/short compared to my current irons, (though finally having the right shaft might have contintributed more to that). Great spin rate and a lower, more penetrating ball flight. I'm in love.

  2. So, as a golf digest reader, I got sent this add, for "Links golf club": https://www.links.golf/membership?utm_source=golf_digest_eblast&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=golf_digest&utm_content=golf_digest_eblast&uuid=93d0d2504a8544eb81fae680cb99502f.

It allegedly provides simple folk like myself access to private club courses, member events, and discounted merch that we would otherwise not have access to.

Has anyone ever used this service? If so was it worth it? If not, should I volunteer as tribute and test it out?

  3. NEVER. EVER. AGAIN.

I bought the 19s when they came out. Had great numbers at the fitting, and I played well with them, until, six months in... they just started falling apart.

Specifically, the besel around where the hosel meets the shaft came unglued on my 8 iron, and eventually, ALL of my irons (3-PW). A "cosmetic" defect they told me at the local PGA tour superstore, but besides the new annoying "click" sound during my backswing, the feel of the club, during the swing and at contact, was thrown off, too. Also, my playing partners looked at me like I was using hobo clubs.

I don't know if it was something in the fitting process, (I had the lie angle adjusted on all my irons), or if it was poor craftsmanship, but I never had that problem with my titlests. And I never will again, at least, not with a callaway set.

Annual vacation to Cape May round. We usually play Cape May National, but we decided to play Shore Gate as a change of pace. Was a great course, in great shape, nice greens. But my God, SO MUCH SAND, sometimes tracking all the way down one side of a hole. That said  If you hit fairways,  it's a very gettable course. Unfortunately, I didn't hit enough, but still had a good time.

  5. @Yourgolfcourses.comthank you for the recommendation! We had a great time at shore gate, which was a very nice course; it was in good shape even with heavy rain the day before, very well maintained greens, which were rolling nicely. They warned us about the "undulations" of the course, but being from north jersey, that was nothing I wasn't used to. About those bunkers though; some of them would put the ones we're about to see at the open to shame! Thankfully I did not find myself in any of those,  haha.

Anyway, thank you again for the great recommendation!

  6. This year, for the first time, I bought a range membership at my local driving range (scenic farms in Pine Island, NY). The membership was $350 dollars from 4/1 until they close for the season,  unlimited balls, 7 days per week. Large bucket is about $10 (70 balls) and small is $7 (40 balls). I have the average value per bucket down to about $3.80 so far 😀 best deal I've had in golf in a long time.

First time I played in a long time.  (Three weeks, which is long for me anyway), and boy did my game show it. My putting and short game were some how super locked in, (course was very wet, which helped I'm sure), which resulted in a decent round.

More importantly, this is my 5th round posted; can't wait to get that sweet, sweet MGS swag tag!

  8. Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone has any good recommendations for public/semi-private courses within 30-45 minutes of Cape May, NJ?  The last 5 years we've contested the annual vacation "Cape May Cup" at Cape May National, which is a lovely course and nearby; I have no qualms with returning. I'm just wondering if there is something else of similar quality nearby to try out? Variety is the spice of life as they say.

Anyway any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

  9. I'm a big fan of William Murray. Stylish, keep you cool, and good at wicking away moisture.

Puma used to make the lightest, most breathable polos, but they must have changed the blends, because their new polos aren't the same.

Smoke from Canadian wildfires can't stop me! Though I did break something in my driver off the first tee; despite the rattling, it still got the ball out there well enough. I was -1 though six on the back, then finished double, par, bogey. Better luck next time.

Might have been the best round of the year so far. Normally, one can shoot low here, but doing so from the tips (7202 yards), was still a feat. 9/13 fairways hit, 13/18 GIR, 31 putts, (and a chip in for birdie on 18), that will get 'er done.

Great weather, course was in its usual good shape. I drove the ball phenomenally, (I think I only missed two fairways, first and last). If I ever lock in my approach shots, or go a whole round without a double, I could be good at this game!

First post, I just discovered the virtual tour. What a great idea!

This was a qualifier for a MGA tournament; needless to say I did not qualify. I might have if I made some putts, I had good looks at par on 14/18 holes. But these were the fastest greens I've ever played; 3 and sometimes 4 putts abounded.
