  1. I love thier $18 shorts at Walmart. I have had them go on sale for $0.18 a piece once. I got 8 pairs that day. Their polos are nice there too. Crazy to say about clothes from Walmart.
  2. I’m 6’6” 299. (Yes I just dropped under 300 again last week. ) so I fit both the “Big and Tall” description. Finding golf pants (44x34) is tough as is anything long sleeve (XXL tall is best for me). I found these to be both big and tall (I got the XXL Big Tall size). It’s a bit roomier than I need but plenty long so my shirt stays tucked in when moving.
  3. I got mine. I didn’t love them. They are pretty thin and have a rough-ish material. Definitely a $7 polo.
  4. On the heels of the cheap Amazon Essentials golf shirts from yesterday, they have shorts on sale in various sizes for as low as ~$9. https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Essentials-Classic-fit-Stretch-Short-DNU/dp/B08P628L26
  5. Some Amazon golf polos on sale for ~$6 for those big and tall boys: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09LDM3JK8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  6. Yeah my first feel was great. Just didn’t last long on the course.
  7. Well, I just want to apologize to anyone who jumped on the CodeChaos deal I listed and had the same experience I did. I got a really bad blister on the back of the right heal (kind of to the side) after just 9 holes. Wore them around the house a bit a couple of weeks later to see if they would break in more and then wore them to play again today. Had to stop after nine again with the same problem. I hate it because the left shoe is super comfortable and they feel really stable. I do have some big calcium deposits on the back of my heal that make for some big wear spots on my older golf shoes, but they never game me blisters. I really, really wanted to like these but I just can’t figure out how to wear them without getting a blister. It’s like the fabric is bunching up where that part of my heel hits and creates a hard spot that then runs on my skin through my sock.
  8. Yeah, I meant to mention there were limited sizes left. I’ll edit my post.
  9. Meant to post this yesterday since I just found this thread last week but Adidas is selling their Codechaos 22 Boa shoes in white on their eBay store for ~$70 with code “35MARCHSALE”. Only size 11, 12, and 13 left at the time of this post. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313&_nkw=golf+boa&_sacat=0&_odkw=codechaos+22+boa&_osacat=0 I got a pair a while ago on another deal for the same price but just wore them last week and they were comfortable as the reviews say, but I got a huge blister on the back of my right heel just riding 9. Hoping they break in and don’t do that again.
  10. I’ve been looking for a ball for my son (11yo, 180 driver total distance) who has been using the Maxfli Softfli. He wants more spin f around the green so I’m thinking of the Tour S for him. I have used the Tour and Tour X but I’m not good enough to tell the difference (hovered down to a 12.5 but currently 17 going through swing changes). I planning to do the 4 for 119 deal in store as I have a 20 off 100 coupon I got in the mail. Curious if that’s a good ball choice for my son since it’s much harder than the Softfli which is a 35. Most kids he plays in tournaments with use tour balls and he drives it just as far as they do.
  11. Been using the Maxfli Tour X for the last 6 months and the only negative I have with them is the way they dull so quickly as others have mentioned. I hate the price increase, but the way the US government handed out cash there was no way to avoid inflation. I will still wait until MSG (hopefully) does a ball lab on them to see how they perform. I might go back to the Tour model though as the X do seem a tad (maybe 5-10 yds) shorter off the tee.
  12. Callaway Mavrik Driver MaxFli Black Max 3W, 5W, 3H (these are the next to go) Callaway Mavrik Irons 4-AW Wilson Harmonized 56 degree Mizuno 0702 putter ($2 at Goodwill) I just put in the bag yesterday to replace an Amazon special G2 sport I'm cheap, so I like the deals at CPO and will likely end up with a Callaway fairway and hybrid at some point.
  13. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I played a bit in HS and college barely breaking 100 at the time. Took 20 years before I could afford to play much regularly after that. I shoot mid-80s to mid-90s and my handicap is currently 15.8, but it's been lower in the last year. Just going through some swing improvements that aren't showing on the scorecard yet. What do you love about golf? That shot. Whether it's the 80' putt I hit during a father-son scramble this weekend with my 11yo or sticking a 9 iron from 135 to 6', that's why I come back. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? Been following MGS on Twitter for a while and appreciated the info they put out as I was looking for clubs recently. I had no idea what kind I needed and their data and info was very helpful. Where are you from? What is your home course? Just outside Birmingham, AL. My home course is Grayson Valley. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? On my side of town, there's not a lot of great courses, but there are a ton in the area. Many are private and way out of my price range, but my son gets to play them as part of the PGA Jr. League and BGA. That's the worst part. Watching my kid get to play all these great courses knowing I never will. What do you do for a living? I'm an IT Architect. How’d you pick your user name? I had to pick one for a BBS in HS, I've used it ever since for the most part. The number is the basketball number I used in 11th and 12th grade.
  14. They are always that price (or have been for over a year). You might even be able to get $20 off if you look around the store for a $20 off $100 signup text sign (they are usually on several clothing racks). Not 100% sure it works for these (it doesn't on line, but I have had that coupon rejected online but work in store for the same item), but you can give it a shot. The real deal is when MGS had a 40% off deal for them last Nov or so. Still kicking myself for not trying them then.
  15. A story: I pride myself in playing balls I find. I don’t play them if they are cut, but scuffs are typically fine. Is shoot anywhere from 85-95, have a driver swing speed from 100 to 110, and usually lose about 3 to 5 balls a round. I play balls I find because of the last part of that statement. I hate wasting money. A couple of days ago I started thinking that maybe I should try playing with new balls to see if I can keep them in play. Of course I love playing Pro V1s I find, but I’m not shelling out $50 for 12. Earlier this year, I saw that MGS had a 40% deal for the Maxfli Balls and I was almost about to buy the 48-count box but bailed. Man do I regret that. Last night, I did more reading up on the Maxfli Tours including reading this thread and decided to grab the 2 dozen for $60 deal (would have been that much for 48 a couple of months ago). This morning my 10-year-old son and I hit the course for 18. My first ball went into the fairway to the left of the hole I was on, but it was straight as an arrow, I just pulled it. I then took a breakfast ball and put it right where I wanted. I’ll spare you the details of the whole round but will say this. I don’t think I played a lot better than normal (I didn’t keep score today, I just had one goal in mind which I’ll get to soon), but I think my drives were a bit straighter, and as long as ones I hit with Pro V1s (between 250-260 probably). I missed some fairways like normal, but only had one bad slice trying to hit a big drive on 16. I used the CG alignment on the tee and I loved that. It gave me confidence I was lined up properly. I was my typically bad self around the greens, but putted OK. Going into the round I had one goal, don’t lose a ball. Not just because I am cheap but I knew that would improve my performance and keep me from getting frustrated. She had some adventures flirting with a lake, going in a creek (but not where I couldn’t get it with a retriever) and visiting the edge of the woods a couple of times. However when the last clip-clop of the cup sounded, she was there waiting for me to bring her home. I’ve never played 18 with the same ball, and I’m not saying the ball is magic. If you hit it bad, it’s gonna be bad. But I’m very, very happy with the decision and I hope they go on sale again because I’m going to stock up on these suckers.
