I second the question "what are you looking to gain?"... I would typically not recommend decreasing the loft of a 3-wood. It would take a lot of on course testing to convince me that decreasing the loft would be a good idea. What is the loft on your 5 Wood? What is the yardage gap between the two clubs right now?

Talk about your needs. What type of courses do you play? What are your current lofts? Are you finding yourself with shots you can't pull off with the current set? What shape does your eye prefer? Think more about how you use them than the name on the back of the club. A wedge is not a wedge, they are all different.

It might have been less expensive to reshaft the old wilson's. Benefit is the Mrs. can't count it as a new set of clubs (at least by my book). YMMV with the Mrs.

Was he out driving you in distance and accuracy? If not, who cares what he plays.
