  1. Keep it as simple as possible, but no simpler

  2. I just popped over to the Ace site and found they don't have 2-inch carpet tape; you'd have to go with 2.44. I bought the 18-ft roll from G.Galaxy for $10. However, the Ace can of mineral spirits will likely be a lifetime supply and it works fine. PLEASE note however that disposal of your towels/rags is important. Whether in your basement or garage, these things can burst into flames as they "dry". Let them sit out somewhere before wadding them up and tossing them in the trash bin.
  3. You can buy roofer's blades for a standard utility knife. The hook is great, but you still need to be very ginger to avoid scoring the shaft.
  4. As one who doesn't have a heat gun and removes the tape manually, I think that's a good recommendation. I can only do about 3 clubs at a time because of the removal process. Suffice to say, the removal bullet is the worst part of the process. The rest is a snap. I use a paint roller pan for my catcher. It hangs on the wall above the workbench and is used for NOTHING else. I want it clean so I can return the runoff to my supply of solvent.
  5. This is a show on the History channel. They see UFOs. They also notice strange energy spikes at 1.62 GHz. The weight of a golf ball is 1.62 ounces. Coincidence?
  6. maybe rebranding could go a long way towards patching things. They could get LXXII Thompson as a spokesperson. (she was like 9 over on the front yesterday!?)
  7. PS- who else would earn a news item for hitting a bar on the way home from winning the Masters? Hell, Cam Smith was regaled for announcing a bunch of stouts were going to go down after his British Open.
  8. I see him being painted by the imbecilic sports journalists as some sort of fringe character. I could be imagining it, but to make the case is a cultural discussion that would be frowned upon by MGS authorities who would label it "political". Sinister? Scottie is just as much a killer at the moment as Tiger, Faldo, Mickelson, Nicklaus, Miller, Hogan... (Spieth when he was actually winning something.) He is certainly blessed, but not just lucky. As the commodity traders on the floor would say, he's no boy scout.
  9. Used to be -- and I believe Spieth got fined for failure -- that tour players HAD TO play x number of "lesser" events. Now the only motivation is to make "next 10" which is not a motivation for the "crowned" 50. I'm not going to do the math, but the difference seems likely to be enhanced. Agreed, Scottie has legitimately established his #1 position vs the "full field". I'm just underscoring the point that he doesn't have to from here out; unlikely to give up #1 in the foreseeable future. IMHO he would be up to the task should he have to face them. I think he's the most evident killer out there.
  10. and yet you said it... It's hyperbole!!
  11. I think it makes him a golfer with a killer instinct/design rather than an angel blessed with a game -- though it is certain he is both!!!
  12. Children definitely hit us all during our 20's and 30's in terms of eroding the golf posse. However, I will take exception. I love Ricky but he was never a candidate for #1. I blame Spieth's loss of the killer instinct on a guy in my golf league who hit him with a ball in a pro/am. Either that or the whole clique those guys formed into in their mid 20's. OWGR is recent but it seems only the golfing pantheon make the transition from early 20's glory to career greatness. Is that a tautology?
  13. All very good points, but to the question of OWGR unseating, the LIV guys are NOT around to challenge Scottie. Then again, that's also true for the pursuers. The McIlroy/Cantlay/Aberg/... set don't have to go up against the Rahm/Cam Smith/DeChambeau/... crew. I wonder if this also leads to greater separation between the Signature Tour and the DP USA. The more the Sig guys stay away from DP USA venues, the less valuable the ranking of those fields (for OWGR points.)
  14. No one. Start thinking of a catchy name for all 4 major titles AND the player's. Cinco de Scottie?
  15. Again, GolfWRX (maybe not as chaste as y'all imagine): Ben Hoggard for Golf Channel…Scottie Scheffler’s victory celebrations are notably low-key, which makes his post-Masters victory lap noteworthy. Scheffler made a late-night detour to a Dallas dive bar called Inwood Tavern early Monday morning following his second consecutive triumph at Augusta National. "I don’t really frequent that place very often. I don’t know if I’d actually been to that place before. There was another tavern around the corner that I’d been to a few times and it’s a nice place but shockingly it wasn’t open Sunday at 1:30 in the morning. This place [Inwood Tavern] was open,” Scheffler said on Wednesday at the RBC Heritage. “On the plane ride home I was with my manager Blake [Smith] and my coach Randy [Smith] and then I had four of my good buddies with me, I don’t remember who suggested it, but it seemed like a good idea.”
  16. OR the third option, taking it up a notch to actually getting into their fellow competitors' heads. Sinister might not be the exact word, but wily or tactical don't quite get there. Does he just slam the door or also push them outside first? (Oh, guys, look my neck hurts!)
  17. Yes, as much as one might like to see LIV failure, theirs was quite the respectable performance at this Masters. They might be accused of being a cherry-picked sampling but then again, the whole Masters invitation list is cherry-picked. The fans suffer. Twenty or so guys get all the money -- we get 3/5th of our weekends watching DP USA and/or the poorest excuse for team competition imaginable. PS- I missed Brandel's argument that team play is antithetical to individual rankings.
  18. From GolfWRX: “Does Scheffler still go 5-under for his last 11 holes if Collin Morikawa isn’t making double bogeys at Nos. 9 and 11? Does the world No. 1 play differently if Ludvig Åberg doesn’t find the pond left of 11 and make double? Does the eventual winner think more about the weight of history and a second Masters title in three years if Max Homa doesn’t venture into the shrubbery behind 12 and also make double?” I think it's kind of the opposite. I remember some baseball color commentator saying if one hits a homer with the bases loaded he has released the pressure on the pitcher. Now that's great if it's the bottom of the ninth and your team needs 3 runs. However, if it's around the turn on Sunday at the Masters, it might be better to keep dangling that bait on the edge of the cliff so that ones fellow competitors might tumble over the edge. Maybe Scottie played them into two splashes and a shot just long enough to hit the downslope and kick hard into the ground cover. Because then two or three birdies crushes all hope; let's just finish out protecting our paychecks. It's funny how a couple of spectacular approach shots materialize out of nowhere at exactly the right time. What did J.R. say, at the poker table always get caught early trying to bluff... PS- commentators comment, competitors compete. commentating is as much a fake word as competating.
  19. just saw him interviewed saying it was a good week. he finished last!
  20. I don't get the response to his swing. He gets to 100% on his left like we all should. No right leg push off -- fully relaxed. Looks kind of perfect to me. I have a friend who described it as "getting worse" last year. Yeah, the best strokes gained tee-to-green in history for anyone not named Tiger Woods. Pretty bad!
  21. any word from Tiger?
  22. cut: +4 am: Christo Lamprecht Pool #: 310566 Team Name: mardukes Entry #: 3419723
  23. I wanted to come in with Taylor Gooch, but see above. I usually have to go into sweat-lodge and get input from the golf gods before having any notion. I will say that I am always rooting for Patrick Reed -- LIV aside. Trouble is once you get involved in these fantasy games it's not so much about who wins; it's about who you choose out of the B, C and D flights.
