  1. I’m sure this is echoing a lot of what’s been said already - I see my driving iron as a “condition specific” club. I built a Srixon 2i with a 6.5 project x HZRDUS shaft so it’s a tee shot only club for me. Ball flight not great for going for a par 5. If I feel like I need a low, running ball to find a fairway or it’s super windy, I’ll throw it in and pull my 5w out. It’s a good club to have in your arsenal.
  2. Still on the younger side so I’m sure this list will change as more opportunities present themselves, so in no particular order: Kinloch (VA) Columbia Country Club (MD) Whistling Straits (Irish) (WI) Sea Island (Seaside) (GA) Golden Horseshoe (VA) Cliffs Mountain Park (SC) Cliffs Keowee Vineyards (SC) Mission Inn (FL) Boothbay Harbor (ME) Curahee Club (GA)
  3. 4i: 2019 P790 w/ Tour 95g AD hybrid shaft 5i-Pw: New Level 902 PD, TT DG 120g S300 shafts 50, 54, 58 - Vokey SM9, TT Tour Issue S400 I've played around a bit over the past 18 months (when I got my 902 PDs) to find the bag setup that works best. I hit new levels before and even the blades felt as forgiving as the major OEMs' forged cavity back offerings. So when I was ready to pull the trigger on new irons I decided to give them a try. I think they're my favorite irons I've ever gamed. At the top of the bag, I use to play an 18 degree driving iron but I've recently moved back to using a 5w, so I rebuilt my P790 4i with a graphite shaft to make it a cross between a pure iron and a driving iron. It gives me the same functionality as my old driving iron off the tee while still working great off the fairway and in the rough. As for wedges - I've always played Vokey, I like the feel, the bounce/grind options available, and the customization through Vokey wedgeworks. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
  4. I heard a story about Tiger along these lines a few years ago. After he and Sean Foley parted ways, Tiger would call up different coaches and experts to have these little hour long chats. As the story goes, Tiger would “throw out” about 95% of what was said and keep maybe one or two different concepts from each guy to further his game. I think the lesson there is that a lot of what we hear is “noise” and what we do hold on to is deeply personal, player to player. So find the 5% of advice that resonates well with you and take that to improve your game. For me that’s picking a precise spot on the golf ball, on the front of the ball for wedges and irons, on the back of the ball for woods and my putter. Keep your eyes focused there until your swing naturally rotates your head towards the target. I hope the context helps!
  5. I belong to a semi-private golf club, it’s a tight course with postage stamp greens. For the past year between 6-10 pins have been placed on slopes where the ball will not stop within 5 feet of the hole when they cut the greens. This is causing some seriously long rounds and the members are starting to complain. One of the guys I play with is friends with one of the guys in the grounds staff. According to him they do it intentionally because they enjoy watching golfers struggle on the greens. It’s gotten so bad the head pro has been telling the head greenskeeper to only put pins in reasonable spots. That only made it worse.
  6. So I’m probably echoing some of what’s been said already but the tl;dr is - sometimes you just need to change what you’re looking down at to get the confidence back My suggestion is grab 2-3 putters that look drastically different, go roll them on a putting mat or at the closest putting green and see if that unlocks anything. I’m a headcase when it comes to putting - I’ve kept all the putters I’ve used since I was 16 so sometimes I’ll go roll them after a few bad putting performances. I usually end up sticking with my current gamer but that exercise helps free me up mentally.
