  1. Up to 6 playable balls but keep a bag of rando/practice balls if I'm not walking
  2. Very cool. I have not heard any horror stories of somebody sitting out on their porch getting hit, but I imagine those places have gotten their fair share of errant tee shots (assuming you talking about the ones off the 10th)
  3. I see somebody has played The Quarry. Fun course there and got to play it again this past weekend. Sad that it will be closed starting next month for the summer (they going to redo the greens) Nice to see somebody else from San Antonio.
  4. Short Term .... easy answer is Golf Balls and Gloves Long Term ... Push Cart so I can stop paying some absurd prices on cart rentals but probably nothing for a while since I've just gotten new clubs recently ... I guess rounds of golf don't fall under "equipment" though cause that's the obvious answer for "next golf purchase"
  5. I recently joined the PXG family for clubs. I went through a fitting at a golf galaxy (some callaway, Titleist, and taylormade iron) and took some of that information to the PXG fitting and I just ended up preferring the PXG stuff on price and performance. Personally, I had a really good experience with the fitter. Did an iron fitting, full bag, and eventually a long game/driver challenge fitting. (My iron fitting was outdoors and it was wet and windy, so we rescheduled and I ended just going through a full bag fitting). I never felt pushed to buy anything from them, in fact the fitter suggested I don't buy the driver at the time, which was the right call for me. The fitter should give you the specs for what you like by the end of it so you can take that to others if needed. Be sure to be vocal about what you are looking for, swing/shot shape tendencies, what you are wanting to try, etc. I'm not sure what clubs you are trying to get, but the "lucky 7" can be a pretty decent promo to help cut some costs, especially if looking at getting wedges or hybrids https://www.pxg.com/en-us/promotions/lucky-7.html Enjoy the process and good luck!
  6. Worst 5 : 5. Wal-mart Driver from 2008 (I was in college .. it was cheap..... it broke after 4 rounds 4. Thinking I needed a set of ball markers for the green, when just any coin is fine 3. A 3-in-1 club cleaner tool .... was just cheap and crappy 2. Golf Tees .... plenty of places will put them in the cart now 1. Refurbished golf balls .... just don't do it. The inconsistency ball to ball is crazy. Learned the hard way for a couple years after thinking I could get some "good" balls for cheap Best 5 5. divot board 4. Range Finder 3. Arccos 2. Quality golf balls. - something good and be consistent has done wonders 1. Fitted clubs (currently playing with some PXGs)
  7. So many Austin folks here. Just curious, has anybody played The Bandit Course (little south of New Braunfels). Looks like a fun track but don't know anybody in my area (San Antonio) that have played it yet.
  8. Good afternoon. My testing skills go back to my background in Aerospace Engineering where running tests varying from material strength to on aircraft data collection are part of my day-to-day life. Thorough documentation and reporting are already familiar to me and I even cross that over into my golf passion. While I've used apps like The Grint and Arccos for collection and tracking data. I still add my own flavor of excel tracking to blend so I can see what I need to work on or even when comparing new equipment (new PXG sticks this past December to replace some 2009/2010 Taylormade stuff) While I'm new here to the community, I'm working my way into expanding my golf passion beyond just me and the rounds I play. Looking forward to the experience here at MGS
  9. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? Played a little as a kid growing up, but nothing serious. Started to play frequently once I got a job. Took an unintentional 3-4 years off after an injury and having kids. Got back into it in a huge way in 2023 and Loving it more than ever. Currently sitting around a 13 index and working on getting that down now that I got some new sticks (PXG gen 6 for everything but the driver ... .still working with a Taylormade Burner 2.0 for like 2010) What do you love about golf? The challenge it gives you every shot and the rewards amazing....yet can be very humbling What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? product reviews and information . Where are you from? What is your home course? Currently in San Antonio, TX .. home course(s) Alamo Trail stuff. Previously in Middle Georgia for about 10 years What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Good = can play pretty much year round, especially if you don't mind playing in some triple digit hear. Bad - 10 minute intervals for tee times makes it get too crowded and take too long to get a round in What do you do for a living? Aerospace Engineering How’d you pick your user name? Twitter name
