marcva's Achievements

  1. Putting on my perfect mat. I've developed a nasty case of the yips and am working through it with short slow putts to get a swing back. Tried my new tour aim with sticks, and it felt cluttered. Just using the lines in the mat seen to work the best. I'll continue the grind and then move back from 4 ft towards 10
  2. Got new Mizuno Hotmetal pros last week and working my way through the bag up from GW as far as 6 iron. tending to push things a little bit and focusing on leveraging the extra distance to ease up on my swing and focus on consistency and a better turn to get the ball straight. As I get consistent with an iron, I move up to the next one. I made it to 6 yesterday in about 1/2 hour also played with the Mz gap wedge from about 20 yds on the chipping green. It feels freat as a moderate chipping club, with reasonable stopping for its loft. I'm going to need to revisit my hodgepodge 54 and 60 wedges in the future and it's nice to have this as a short distance club after my AP1s.
  3. There was a guy slapping weights on clubs at driving range last summer. Yes it changes the swing weight and balance of your putter and other clubs. Is probably do that in the context of a proper fitting
  4. I have an SC 300i. You won't get side spin. I think club speed is also derived. Not sure whether mevo+ gathers or derives club data. It will also cost more than a grand. I'm pretty sure even the PRGR will get you decent backspin numbers.
  5. eBay user techswamp_vision has a lot of used bargain projectors if you want to start cheap
  6. Bought a skytrak and a gosport 10x7 net and will get the matching screen. Shopping for a projector. I have a country club elite may, but find it a bit punishing for fat shots. I just don't know if I want to pay for the upgrade to the better mats. I'll have to over time if I start to feel pain, or my ball striking will get better. Btw skytrak pricing has dropped a lot . You can get them used for a bit less than a grand and used for about 850 with the protective case. Check 2nd swing golf. Worth the extra cookie hundred over an r10. Will but GSPro when I get a chance. I already and a couple PCs I can use.
  7. Just bought a pair of Revo driver lenses and love them. Brown what a hint of red, which I think is similar to the Oakley prism golf, but the revos come in nicer styles. I've loved Serengeti lenses for driving, but they're REALLY hard to find and try in the US. I finally ordered a pair online to try vs the Revos and prefer the Revos. The Descend model wraps nicely and is very light. Similar to Maui Jim hookipas in Rose except not quite as Pink. You can try online and return free if they don't work out. The Revos are polarized, but they don't bother me as much as others. I can see the gauges in my car and my phone, which is nice.
  8. I had a garmin R10 that I recently upgraded for a used skytrak that I got from 2nd swing. I used it in my bank patio with a net using the Garmin, then amazing golf software. The lack of lateral spin intelligence was frustrating as was the depth required to get it to work. The skytrak gives me more useful ball path insights even with just the skeletal driving range that is included. I plan on upgrading to gs pro to play rounds with my son since I don't seem to be able to find the time to get to a real round of golf. The R10 is good to give you a sense of affection, and you can use the altitude settings to fine tune distance, though you'll have to be careful about exposed metal or concrete in the hitting zone which can confuse the radar. I used moving blankets in the ground in front of the unit, then had my net in the grass off the end of my patio.
  9. Sorry missed scores. Usga says I'm a 14 because of a series of rounds I played at a fairly straightforward links course. I then played 36 holes in the following 12 months so don't know how accurate that is anymore. Taking lessons at Gollfec and working on updating my ancient clubs Titleist ap1 and TM 5 series driver. To buy some yardage and keep up with my 16 year old son. I'm 60, so looking at old man irons. Mizuno hot metal pros with graphite or (gasp) senior shafts. Coming up on 60, so I guess it's time to admit my age. I also have a Plop putter I bought at the Hollywood race track driving range in 1993. It's a solid center shaft power with ZERO MOI. When it works, it works well, but given my playing frequency...I at least need to hit the practice putting mat more.
