  1. Personally, I’m in favor of keeping the golf balls as they are and maintaining a level playing field for everyone. Golfing is a sport that has always been about tradition, and part of that tradition is the skill required to master it. I like that I have the same chance and same set of equipment (albeit older) as the professionals to get par on each hole. It makes sense that advancements in technology have made it possible for pros to hit the ball farther than ever, but I believe the cornerstone of the game lies in the balance of power and strategy.
  2. I have recently been thinking about my high school days when I used to hit my drives nice and high and straight. Fast forward a decade, and my drives have become much lower than I'd like. I'm spending more time at the driving range with the driver than any other club, trying to figure out what's changed. Maybe it's just a matter of shaking off some rust or my swing technique has unknowingly evolved in a way that does not lead to higher drives. Despite that challenge, I'm thoroughly enjoying every opportunity to get out on the course. There's something special about seeing the gradual improvement in my game. Not being as good as I used to be actually has a silver lining. There's more room for my scores to drop with each round! It's a rewarding feeling to work on these little adjustments and see incremental progress. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue with their drives? Any tips or exercises that helped you get more air on your shots? I'd love to hear your experiences!
  3. I was going to chime in with this exact same thing Hitting it with solid contact off the tee can be difficult at times, let alone hitting it off the fairway where you have to cut into the ground with almost perfect contact to get the ball straight and high enough. Good luck off the deck!
  4. When it's not a serious round with friends who are simply there to have fun, blast the music as loud as you respectfully can while avoiding being a distraction to other golfers on the course. When it's a more serious round or playing by myself, no music is needed. It's nice enough to be outdoors enjoying and focusing on my game. Too many distractions leads to a frustrating round of golf.
  5. Hi all! Excited to peruse around these forums and learn more about you all and I hope to contribute along with you fellow spyers. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I’ve been playing golf very since I was a teenager, yet I didn’t understand the importance of sticking with it until I started my working career. I golfed freshman year of high school and that was my only official golfing experience. Since then, I’ve been a once every few months golfer. My score is generally in the +20 range. What do you love about golf? I enjoy playing this game by myself, with friends, family, and in any format. I’ve gotten my wife into the game, and I hope we can instill the joy of the game in our baby boy. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? JBernGolfs is my fellow MyGolfSpy. He spread the good word on the interesting testing opportunities and forum discussions, so I thought I would see what it’s all about. Where are you from? What is your home course? I live in the Findlay, Ohio area. Central in Ohio. We have a few courses nearby including Hillcrest and Birch Run. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? The best thing about golf in my area is that a majority of courses are public and welcome to all golfers. The courses are not the most difficult but are good enough for a casual golfer like me. The worst thing is likely the number of courses in my area of northwest Ohio. There’s about a 30 minute drive between any course. What do you do for a living? I am a Marketing Analyst at a Fortune 20 company. How’d you pick your user name? My nickname mirrors my best friend and brother JBernGolfs, who is a veteran on the golf spy forum.
  6. Hello all, I’m from northwest Ohio where we’ve got the some of the flattest courses that drive right alongside corn fields. My brother has been heavily involved in this forum for the past few years, so I wanted to see what it was all about. I’m hoping to move from more of an occasional golfer to once a week golfer. Work, family, friends, and other hobbies take precedence most of the time, yet I’m looking to get out onto the course more often. Grip it and rip it!
