  1. Hoping it does not rain tomorrow evening. We have a beer and bourbon tour on our course. Should be a fun time.
  2. Played Sunday. Had a very nice round. Did not hit many greens (8) but scored nicely with a 69 (-3). Had the putter working. It was a great final weekend of summer.
  3. I played Saturday with my dad and my wife. We had a great time. I ended up hitting the ball very well (I think) but not really scoring. I shot 72 (E). For as well as I hit the ball I was a little disappointed with the score. But I have a rule that if I shot Even or better I can not be mad about it. It has taken me a few days to process what I am about to share thou. My stats for the round were very good for me. 79% of Fairways hit, 67% of Greens and 30 putts. With those stats ill take that round every time, minus a few putts. I have also started to use Strokes Gained to help me improve my game, and what I found out was shocking. Strokes Gained/(Lost) Tee Shots: (.44) Tee Shots: (.44) Shots +226 yds: (.50) Shots 176 - 225: (.39) Shots 126 - 175: (.87) Shots 50 - 125: +.12 Approach Shots: (1.64) Shots 31- 50: 0 Shots 10 - 30: +1.75 Short Game: +1.75 Putts Over 15': (.43) Putts 5' - 15': (2.77) Putts Putting total (2.58) Total Strokes Gained: (2.81) So after seeing this, going with Fairways, Greens and Putts is not a fair way to track my stats. Obviously putting is the one area and its 5-15 feet that I need work. Funny how those are the putts the guys on tour when they win they do not miss.
  4. Played with my wife and a couple of friends yesterday. Golf shots were few and far between, but we all had a blast. Need to play more rounds not really caring what you shoot.
  5. Played 9 holes before league and played ok (-1 / 35). Went to the back 9 for league and caught fire (-4 / 32). Finally trusted my swing again and hit the ball very well. The Ft Worth Hi irons are in the bag to stay.
  6. Played in the final round of the club championship today. Another poor round for me but still came out on top (yes 77-77 won the event) A second straight 77 and just no consistency. Hopefully the course conditions improve in the next week or so. Also was a poor day for my Snell. After 53 holes I had to retire it due to a crack in the cover. It felt different for a few holes and finally showed up. I thought it was just how poor I had been swinging but it was actually the ball. This will affect my thoughts on the ball and my review. I will also send the ball back to Snell for them to see why it failed.
  7. So by everyone's posts yesterday was not a good day golfing. Here's to a much better day today! Have fun everyone and play well
  8. I purchased the Bushnell neo Ion gps watch. I am impressed with how light it is and how easy it is to work. If anyone would like to see a review let me know and I'll get one started.
  9. I have been. I usually am very confident. But have lost this lately. I needed a change (4 years same putter). I had 28 putts today. Made some very nice par saves. Hit 5 gir's. And made 2 birdies. For I can hit more greens and keep that ratio I'll be very happy.
  10. Played the first round of our club championship this morning. I continued my very poor ball striking and decent putting. I hit 5 greens in regulation, had an ob and just no confidence from 30-100 yards. Ended up with a 77. We will see this afternoon what I have to do tomorrow. Course was in poor shape and a little disappointed in that as well. I did continue to keep the same Snell in play. And after 36 holes is doing well. I'll hopefull be able to show it after 54.
  11. Got a PING Anser 4 off ebay. Changed the white letters to orange. See how she does in the club championship this weekend.
  12. I am 32, have 2 children and have been married for 7 years. I work in sales selling Maintenance of Way Equipment to railroads and contractors. I have been in heavy equipment sales for the last 5 years.
  13. Played 9 holes in league last night. Hit the ball better than I did on Tuesday, but still not scoring. Swing just does not feel 100% there. Was able to get around in +1. It was a very nice night for golf though.
  14. Thank you, it was still fun and nice to watch the future of golf for a day.
  15. Thanks guys. It always stings a little when you do not play to your ability. Just more reason to practice and come back next year.
  16. Played in my US Amateur qualifier yesterday. Was one of the worst all around performances I have had in competition. I did not drive the ball well, did not hit green and when I did I 3 putted. (77-80) I did play with 2 very nice and good college golfers (they finished 1-2 and are moving on). I know after yesterday that this is a young mans game. In no way was the course too big, but the distance these kids hit the ball is unreal. I knew I was in for good day of watching golf when on the 4th hole of our morning round I hit one 325 and was 30 yards behind them. Just the speed that they carry thru impact is awesome. But back to my poor day. It wasn't the balls or the clubs it was just the lack of a consistent swing, and no touch putting. My best shot was a 23* Ft Worth Hi on the par 3 7th. Hit it into the wind (220 yds) to 10 ft and made the putt. My wife caddied for me and asked on our 27th hole "why do you do this to yourself". I asked her what she meant by it. I had just hit a wedge from 104 yds in the fairway (425 yard hole) that had no chance of holding the green. The ball hit 10 ft short of the flag and went over. (All of us in the group went over). And she replied you hit a good shot and do not get rewarded, why play in this these conditions? And my reply was I have no clue. We came to the conclusion walking the last 9 that yes I am getting older and yes I am not as fast but I love the competition. So from now on its just State Am's and State mid-ams where maybe the setups are not as tough. It was a long day and but I had fun and got to see 2 very good golfers. I also had a lot of fun with my wife. She did her very best to try and get my game and swing where it needed to be. Below are the stats and they are not good.
  17. Played in an event with my father in law at his club over the weekend. 36 Saturday and 18 yesterday. We finished 3rd in our flight. Over all it was a good showing for us. Still loving the Snell and Ft Worth Hi's. I did get 2 new Cleveland wedges and will put those to the test tomorrow in my US Amateur qualifier.
  18. Sounds good. I will let you know when we will be in town.
  19. revkev, I'll be in Tampa for 6 days in Oct for a wedding. I have heard that the TPC of Tampa is a great place to play, is it worth trying to sneak in a round?
  20. I agree they are very easy to hit off the ground, but I will say I am loving my 20* Ft Worth HI off of the tee. I tend to hit the ball lower than most so maybe that is why.
  21. Undershooter, I agree should be a fun day next Tuesday. I didn't putt very well either which could be a good thing.
  22. I played a practice round for the US Amateur at the ISU Weibring course yesterday. Didn't play my best, but was very nice to see the course. Its not overly long, and you need to be in the right place. Should be a fun day next Tuesday.
  23. StrokerAce, from what I have seen so far, I hit the 20* Ft Worth Hi as far and Higher than my 19* Adams V2. I need more time with it, but right now I am seeing the results I wanted.
