  1. Yeah hitting the ball high is never an issue for me even at 8* turned down 1.5*. It’s a blessing and a curse lol
  2. Yeah playing the Alph One Grey 65/4. Thought about going with the Blue 55/4 but so far appears I made the right choice with the grey
  3. Ok got a quick 9 in before it looked like it was gonna rain. First impressions are really favorable. 1st hole 363 yard par 4. No range so aimed down the middle. Hit a nice little cut that ended up 5 feet off the fairway 80 yards left. 3rd hole 313 dogleg left par 4. Aimed over the trees. Hit another cut that carried the trees but ran out of fairway due to the dogleg. Half 4th hole is a 533 yard dogleg right par 5. Trusted the cut and nuked it. Middle fairway 210 out. Big 5th hole is uphill 330 yard par 4. Left to right wind as it started to pick up. Aimed left to compensate and hit a pull cut that didn’t make it back enough. My fault but no check. 6th hole is a dogleg left 286 par 4. Playing into the wind and played the cut. Hit another it right where I aimed but no cut. Hole high 10 yards left of the green. 7th hole is a downhill 470 yard par 4. Right to left wind so played the cut aiming down the middle. Another nuked drive middle of fairway 147 left. 9th hole is a 560 yard uphill par 5. Left to right wind. Played left edge and hit a slight pull cut that the wind helped back to the left edge of the fairway. 280 left. Only 3 fairways but 5.5 checks out of 7 is a win for me. There is no real kick feeling with this Aretera shaft. That said there is zero boardy feel. I just wanted to keep hitting it. Hoping to grab a full 18 tomorrow afternoon if it doesn’t rain.
  4. Headed to the course for a few holes before the rain comes back. Feel like a kid in a candy store. Can’t wait to hit this beast
  5. It’s a brand new company and this is their first shaft to hit the market. The talk is a super stable shaft that doesn’t feel boardy. TXG/Club Champion did a review of the alpha one shaft. I did the waggle test and while this thing feels super head heavy, there is no give or soft feeling/flex to it. Feels like a sledgehammer.
  6. Alright time to unhide this one and get this going. I’m gonna try to get some swings in tomorrow after work as we just got over 2” of rain so no chance tonight. Also planning at least 2 full rounds this weekend. Let’s go
  7. This will be my review post. First I wanna give a huge thanks to my local hookup and owner of myclubmaker.com. John is a great standup guy that can get you anything you want and in my experience beats anyone’s pricing. If you are looking for any golf clubs or shafts be sure to hit him up. Don’t forget to mention that Mark at MyGolfSpy sent ya. May or may not help price wise but can’t hurt lol. John has offered the simulator and trackman to help with this review. I grabbed the shaft from John Monday after work along with an all fit adapter. He will build the club for you or sell you raw shafts or heads. I chose to do the build myself for this review. Last night I installed the adapter and tonight added the Golf Pride Tour Velvet Align grip on. This will be very interesting as this is a heavier shaft than I’m used to playing. I usually stay in the low/mid 50g shafts and have played R/S/X in a variety of shafts over the years. My swing speed hovers in the 108-113 range but can get up to 120 if I swing all out. Last year I played the Paradym TD 8* with a few shafts. I ended up playing most of the year with a Ventus Velocore Blue 5R shaft and had some of the best driving of my life. This lead to my first ever round in the 60’s(68). The start of this year has been a different story. As many of you know I was an official mgs tester of the Flightscope Mevo/Mevo+. With the added inside swing I developed a fade swing with driver. This is tough to adjust to as I played a draw almost exclusively last year which was awesome coming from a slice when I started golfing. This review will start with the Aretera Alpha One Grey 65/4 shaft paired with the PXG Black Ops 8* head. I am a high spin/high launch guy and while the tour-1 may have been a better fit, the golf store I stopped at 2 weeks ago in another city didn’t have it so I opted for the regular head. Feel free to ask any questions or chime in with your thoughts or if you want anything in particular tested.
  8. Starting this thread as a place for anyone to talk or give their thoughts on the new shaft company Aretera. I will also be doing an unofficial review of the Alpha One Grey 65/4 shaft and would love for anyone with any experience or thoughts to join the conversation. Here are a few snippets from their website. From the mind of one of the best shaft designers in the business Alex Dee, whose ideas have lead to some of the most played and revered shafts to hit the Market, this new company is hitting the ground running. At the heart of the Alpha One shaft is the powergrid technology. There are 2 models of the alpha one shaft. The blue model and the grey model.

  13. I checked and it looks like things were approved but I’m not 100% on our clean talk stuff. I’m sure Jamie can get ya right when he gets a chance.
  14. I was part of the forum review which can be found below. They didn’t work out for me in the end and I passed them on. That said they are every bit as good as the larger OEM’s.
  15. Both were 8* TD’s. To be fair manufacturer tolerances could play a roll but as I said they looked identical at address for me
  16. Oh the face doesn’t look open. Both set to the exact same setting, same loft, same head weight, same shaft, and similar strikes the Smoke was slightly more fade bias. It’s not an earth shattering amount but it was evident for me.
  17. I played them with all fit adapters and both in the -1.5* setting to keep spin down. The Paradym is the one I should have never sold. Currently searching big time with the driver and getting frustrated lol
  18. I have hit both TD’s and the Smoke was more fade biased for me. They look identical minus the gloss black vs gloss navy.
  19. This advert is COMPLETED!

    • FOR SALE
    • Used

Up for sale is a Cobra Darkspeed LS 8* head with headcover. Pics show condition. I can probably source of shaft if wanted as I have a couple with all fit adapters. I believe I still have the OEM screw but I won’t guarantee it. May consider trades but will be picky.

  22. Yes I actually rent a cart shed for my cart at my local golf course. Even the other courses in my area allow me to take mine there to use. Only one charges a $10 trail fee which isn’t terrible. I posted a picture a few days ago but here is mine again. Still a little more work I wanna do but she is a runner for 32 years old.
  23. Ok then. Don’t look now but you are chatting on a golf forum Edit: Just trying to show I can joke around too. Wasn’t trying to come off as an a$$.
  24. Where did I or any other staff member say anything about ad revenue? You can try to make me out to be a bad guy or twist this into whatever you’d like but this system has proven to work. As mentioned above a review is a 4-6 week(sometimes longer) responsibility for a member to use the equipment and talk about it before giving the final review. While you are correct not everyone can write a good paper, but that good paper that is written doesn’t tell us anything other than that person can write a paper. Again you are missing the point of posts being a tiny requirement. Im sorry you don’t care for how we do things. All we can do is be upfront with how we chose testers and that it isn’t just some contest or whatever word anyone wants to use. We have a responsibility to the OEMs to make sure that the equipment they provide for a review is in fact reviewed. This has nothing to do with advertising or even money. My comment about the amount of $ in equipment was meant to provide some context on why we do it this way. We expect the same effort for a ball review as we do an iron set review.
  25. You are missing the point of wanting to see posts in the forum. It shows a little commitment to this place. As I said anyone can write one paper but that shows us nothing for your commitment to MGS. This is a community of golfers not a review site. Yes we do member reviews but that’s not what this forums core is about. It’s a Perk given to those that care to take the time to be a part of this family. I’ll just put it like this. You are right, my mind is set and you arent gonna change it. I’m not gonna agree to send someone $1500 set of irons cuz they gave me their word they’d be a good reviewer but don’t have time/want to post here to prove it unless it’s for a review. Sorry not sorry.
