JGreene's Achievements

  1. Because of the time and other responsibilities, then I prefer 9 holes. Otherwise, I end up feeling too selfish for staying away from the house for 5+ hours. I would love to get 18 in, especially when after 9 holes my scorecard is looking horrid. It's golf and I always feel like I can do better on another (back) 9. I do get to play 18 about once a month for work outings, so my appetite for a longer round is satiated through that.
  2. I adjusted my game to intentionally sacrifice distance for control, especially because my home course will destroy you once you get off the fairway. It helps that my distance sacrifice still results in 250 yard drives. If I'm playing at an easier course, which allows for more dispersion, then I will certainly go for it. Suffice it to say that it will always depend on the course, which gets us down to playing golf is more than just hitting a ball. Course management (and mental management) are significant factors as well.
  3. Since my last name is Greene, then I put one green dot just to the left of the logo and farthest away from the alignment line, thus only on one side. This allows me to pick it up and identify it, yet at the same time I'm not distracted by the dot when lining up the ball.
  4. 39 years old here and the 5 iron is the longest iron I have in my bag. Although I don’t typically hit it very well and dispersion is the worst. I moved the 3 and 4 over to hybrids earlier this year and still wonder how I should replace the 5 iron. Lots of options with a hybrid or 7 wood.
  5. This is a great question and discussion in our house. My 14 year old son carries about 4 dozen! He’s crazy and I tell him it’s way too many. I carry two sleeves and about 6-9 more junk or scuffed balls that I’ve found or scuffed while walking.
  6. I know others are much smarter than I and are directing you to grind types. I'm just not that good enough, nor have the money, to spend on a custom fitting and club setup. I picked something that was good enough. For me, that was a Cleveland 56 with a 8* bounce. It's my go-to club around the green, whether from the sand or anywhere. It's been super versatile and exactly what I have in mind when I think work horse. I chose the bounce based on the course conditions I normally play and my swing type.
  7. I will work out 4 days a week in order to hit all body parts. However, I did change my routine a couple of years ago in order to proactively avoid golf pain, soreness, and injury. The biggest change was making sure to include good mornings every week. Ever since I haven't had as many days of lower back pain. Also, not to overlook, I would already make sure to do lat pulldowns, pullups, side lateral raises, and military. I tend to get sore in my shoulders and back, so hitting those muscles every week has been beneficial.
  8. A couple of worst golfer ideas... Funny driver head cover Ridiculous hat that they have to wear for the round Play either pink golf balls or emoji golf balls
  9. I almost only buy my clubs at Callaway Pre-owned now. I'm not that good to justify new club expenses. However, pre-owned does a great job exceeding my expectations every time. I purchased my last set there and they came in looking just like new.
  10. This is a great concept, especially with wearing through Titleist Players gloves.
  11. There are a couple of places around NW ATL. Below are the most recent prices I have from the beginning of this year.
