buckpillar got a reaction from Rob Person in Odyssey Ai-ONE Putters - 2023 Forum Review
Did you get the feeling that when you thought the ball was going to stop, that it went a couple more rolls?
That is one of the impressions I got out the Heel and Toe tests that I completed, I will be finishing the center strike test later this week since we will have some good weather coming threw.
Great feedback, looks like your dispersion was tight also like my groupings turned out with the AI#1.

I think the grip on my AI#1 is just right, the firmness, style, and material is a great combination, the light tackiness is good. The size to me is relative to my putting, keeps your hands for the most part out of the stroke and gives freedom on longer putts. So far very happy with the grip combination to the putter
I went from a Super Stroke 2.0 to take the hands out of play, but after using it for a season felt that it hampers me. Here are a couple photos of my grips.

I have the same grip on my current putter. I’ve been using an old Scotty Cameron Studio Stainless Newport 2.5 for years. It’s finally time for a split.
Thank you for the pictures. It will definitely help my decision to change to grip or not.

Fairly long post…but got to the practice green today with the Ai-ONE. I must say, this putter continues to impress.
Focused on a few areas: Distance Control (Off-Center Hits), Putting From The Fringe and Overall Putting.
Distance Control (Off-Center Hits)
Set up a test on an open area of the green, it was slightly downhill breaking left, but was really just looking to see how consistent the distance was on center/toe/heel strikes. Set-up:
Tees marked starting point and stroke length. Really focused on maintaining a steady stroke on each. Did 3 rounds, going C-T-H-C-T-H and then looking at results. It ended up being about a 20 foot total distance.
First Round (about 2’ delta)
Second Round (about 1’ delta)
Third Round (about 1’ delta)…videos show Center, Toe then Heel.

IMG_4408.mov Putting From The Fringe
Hit quite a few putts from the fringe to see how the putter worked through the grass and the ball roll.
The putter worked quite well from the fringe and the ball rolled very cleanly onto the green. Speed control was not an issue at all…would easily decide on using the putter from any closely mown area during a round.
Overall Putting
I really enjoy this putter! It is very easy to line up and get started on line. Sank many putts from the 25’ to 40’ range and left most of the others inside a 3’ circle (ones outside of that were a complete misread or just a bad stroke). It is easy to get the ball started rolling and on the selected line.
Have I said I really like this putter???

Interesting robot test video comparing distance for the AI insert and milled mallet putters compared with another Odyssey .

I've watched those vids, and a few others too like this. They have some valid science and stellar results using the mechanical testing side of it.

I'm left handed, but do everything righthanded, Since I was a kid, back then it was cheaper to play any sport righthanded.
What's funny, I can play golf left and right handed, left handed I hit everything straight as an arrow but don't have any distance to compete. Righthanded I can anything and everything with the golf ball with power.

I've actually putted lefty, and it was pretty easy for me. I'm a 50/50 left handed person. I write lefty, but am also quite ambidextrous. (Thank the nuns for that one) Sports are 90% right handed, except for frisbees and pew pews. (But I'm qualified for both for work)

I’m the opposite of you…write/throw right handed, bat/golf left handed.
I have played a few holes right handed, actually hit the ball very consistent, it was a 30 yard slice, but it was the same every time…still better left handed though.

It would be great if they would stamp the weights on each insert.

I seen that there were a few PGA Pros using the AI putters in the Sentry tournament today.

Wonder if you did take off the bottom plate… would it mess up the positioning of the AI?

Wife Equals 3 Putt?! Three Putt Challenge….
I don’t think so, I had the Odyssey AI#1 in hand at the Country club.
I got the wife out to help with this test, I had her randomly throw out the golf balls and then choose what hole I was to putt on the green, I would attempt the putt and hope to get down in 2 and not 3 putt.
The putts ranged from a minimum of approximately 20ft to just over 50ft, we did this 40 times with the putts consisting of uphill, downhill, left to right, right to left breakers.
Here are the results from the 40 putts.
1 putts = 2 -- 5%
2 putts = 32 – 80%
3 putts = 6 -- 15%
I would say the Odyssey AI#1 performed outstanding, knowing that I didn’t hit every putt in the center yet to have the ball roll out as if I did, the distance control was good even though I had a couple run past the hole from some of the longer putts, the dispersion was tighter than my normal putts with my old putter and still amazes me that the AI can produce such results.
I’ve almost have the center strike test completed, I must put out my new green in the family room to finish. More to come on that test.

I’m with you @buckpillar, I’ve putted so well with the stock configuration I am afraid to make any changes at this point.
