  1. Long ago I got to go to Greece for a 2 week stay- (Hops are a WONDERFUL thing). I REALLY loved it. The scenery and people were fantastic. Couldn't take my clubs though- REALLY took a liking to the Ouzo- almost got me in a little bit of trouble though. We live and learn!!!!!
  2. Went out in the wind tunnel that was Saturday morning to work on the "new" chipping method. Figured out that I occasionally have a bad habit of pulling instead of "swinging"- I'll give it another shot when the cross winds aren't 30+mph. But for the most part I think it went relatively well. Still need a LOT more work on the lower lofted clubs.
  3. After rounds- Dawn/warm water and a used toothbrush head in my "electric" toothbrush on the irons/Hybrids. UW and Driver get wiped down w a damp towel and a moist toothbrush to get any recessed areas/parts. The grips get wiped down with a moist towel with every cleaning. During rounds- a wet(damp) towel to wipe them off(if necessary) and Frogger brush to get the gunk out, and a dry towel
  4. They look REALLY nice. The C-Tapers were/are a little bit stiff for me. The Lite version was really nice though........Look forward to hearing what you think .....
  5. I've been exactly where you are now and you asked for opinions so here ya go: I personally really like all 3 of your options. I'm really leaning really hard toward option 1 with Option 2.5 a REALLY close 2nd and here's why: Option 1 IMHO - is what you're currently COMFORTABLE with and you're no longer enamored with your current 60*. Plus, it gives you the opportunity to re-educate yourself with your NEW 60*(set-up EXACTLY how you want/need it to be) and remember how much fun you had with it's predecessor before. Option 2 is definitely doable- but I got rid of my 2-3 wood to make room for ?????. I That space went vacant for a LONG time. It ended up being a 64*. Never really been a fan of FWs. I find I can do better with my 17* UW (kind of a FW/Hybrid cross) and my Hybrids (20*/23*) and don't really miss the lower FW. Plus, I've now got another tool in my "arsenal" to accommodate different close-up approach shots. You know, those short-sided shots where you have to get over a bunker/stream/ (insert your most dreaded obstacle here.....) and stop the ball basically before it lands. Option 2.5: That's also doable. You picked/found those wedges to fulfill a specific set of tasks. They've apparently performed well for you over the time that you've had them. IF I were in your position, (for this particular option) I'd really think hard about goin to 54*/58*(with MAYBE a 62*/64* instead of a FW/Hybrid as in Option 2- which would make this MY favorite of the 3). 5* isn't a bad gap between the first 2 wedges (from what I've read- a common separation is 4*-6*) and it would fit well with the others in your bag. My set-up goes from 44*(PW) 48*(GW) 54*(SW) 58*(LW) and 64* (I gotta get this up high and stop fast), or any other multitude of shots its good at (and you'll find more every day). Then by eliminating your "need" for the 60* you can resort to Option 2(which is actually my least favorite- although the 20* hybrid makes a little bit of sense depending on the gaps with your current set-up). I hope this helps more than confuses. And these are just MY thoughts. Cuz, Like I said, I was once (twice.... ) in the exact same situation.
  6. Practiced a "new" method of Chipping in the front yard tonight. I've been working on my short game for a LONG while now and am pretty consistent, but I want MORE. I was watching a Steve Stricker video and a Butch Harmon video. They're quite a bit different as you can imagine. I REALLY like the Steve version the best. It's REALLY simple, easy to repeat and I'm pretty sure that it'll be there when you need it in a pinch. The Butch version was really good in that it reminded you about different ways to get the ball to cup, low vs mid vs high lofted clubs. Getting more or less loft/spin etc.... I can see where they both have their places and audiences.
  7. We had our 1st Faculty/Staff 4-Person Scramble on Monday at Stagg Hill. Although I don't particularly like the format, but it's a great way to have a little competition and get back together with golfers you haven't seen in a while (as hard as it might be to believe- not everyone shares the same enthusiasm for this wonderful sport that WE do). All points considered we did well (+2). We hit 12 out of 14 Fairways (some were just in the rough and some were WAY off the fairway) 13 out of 18 GIRs (some were JUST on the fringe), and a few really nice up and downs to save par. But we had a few issues with our putters. The weather was chilly, windy and a few sprinkles/drizzles blew through. We all occasionally surprised ourselves with really nice drives/approach shots/chips. The 8th hole is my nemesis on this course. It's a par 5 with a L to R dogleg off the tee then it goes straight up a hill into a R to L dogleg. If you're feeling froggy, you can try and cut the corner on the 2nd shot. But the trees there usually get in the way unless you have REALLY good placement with your drive. Then you can choose to try and go over or through the trees. We got it about 90 yards (we had a little bit of a quartering tail wind) from the green with 2 (we'd decided to lay up instead of fight with the trees). I waited for my turn, I played my 58* and it hit literally 2" to the left of the cup (you could see indent on the green where it landed), bounced up a couple of inches and rolled BACK AROUND the cup to the right to about 4" away- yes we made the birdie. We had a great time and look forward to our next one in May at Colbert Hills.
  8. So- I'm guessing that you MIGHT'VE eaten at Sir Scotts Oasis in Manhattan once or twice?
  9. Have you ever gone to Ennis MT around Labor Day? The last time I was through there around that time they have a really big Fly Fishing Tournament? My next door neighbour in Colorado was highly ranked in the world of Fly Fishing(from what I understand). He and his wife were always in their front yard casting to tires all over their yard and through tires hanging from their trees.
  10. So- I jumped straight from the "what are you thinking about" to the CHA's. Someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse(well- I COULD'VE- but what would the fun be in that) on my current SW/LW- SO- I was then FORCED to replace them with the Callaway(go figure) Jaws Raw Full Toe in the 54*/58* versions. At least the guy buying them knows he has to wait til my new ones come in
  11. GM Y'all(kinda) Been a busy day- hopefully everyone has had a great day- lots of INCREDIBLE golf and easy work days(except those that are set to retire- I'll get there some day). Went from the "what clubs are you thinking about" STRAIGHT to the CHA's. Just ordered 54*/58* Jaws Raw Full Toe wedges. I got made an offer I couldn't refuse. Hope everyone has a great weekend !!!!!!!!
  12. GM Y'all !!!!! I hope y'all have great rounds today and as good of a day as possible if there's no golf involved. I get to go play human pin cushion(again) today w an RFA(the high point of my day/week/month.....). But it works, so I guess it's a "temporary inconvenience for a (somewhat) permanent improvement". Yep- we're gonna save the world yet again!!!!!
  13. Yeah- those definitely hurt......... IMHO- the paint is the best place to be- but it DOES get a LITTLE bit physical in there (I've survived a broken nose, black eyes and bruised ribs having been in there), but I always admired the shooters from the outside. It's fun to get the rebounds when they miss
  14. GM Y'all !!!!! Happy day!!!!!! Hopefully everyone will have some golf in their day- Thinking I'm about to try and stimulate the economy (again) and renew my membership in the CHAs- those wedges haven't stopped screaming at me - Nothin' but F&Gs and for us workin' class people- just another walk in the park !!!!!!
  15. GM Y'all!!!!! Hope everyone has a great day- lots of F&Gs and birdies!!!!! The work day is under control and no worries. Just wondering why our tournament couldn't have been today instead of yesterday- no wind, great temp oh well- that's why we love the game. It's amazing to watch a shot on a perfect line right at the pin get hit by a gust of wind and basically drop from the sky or almost get blown into an adjacent fairway. It was a constant 1-2 club w occasional 3-4ish club wind. Makes us appreciate the calmer days that much more.........
  16. My first duty assignment was at Malmstrom in Great Falls, The scenery was beautiful (except for the winters being a little bit chilly). Got lots of memories and experiences that were great from that area. I remember my gas line freezing while I was driving between Dillon and Boulder. They had a nice course back then- but it WAS a trek to get to any others
  17. GM Y'all!!!!! We have our first Faculty/Staff Scramble Tournament this morning. I LOVE playin with my team- just not always fond of the set-up. We've had a few teams in the past that seem to "enhance" their score and/or possibly "exaggerate" their driving distance or proximity to the hole(I know it's a common theme but.....). The fact remains that its time off from work to play golf. I just get to leave early- our tee time is 11:30. Doesn't get much better than that!!!!!! Hope y'all have an awesome day. For the rest of y'all playin- nothin but F&Gs. I KNOW the rest of y'all got this!!!!!!!!
  18. Yeah- The new Callaway Full Toes are screaming for me to take them home. Went and looked at one at hit it a few times at Golf USA here in town- they're REALLY REALLY nice- jus sayin
  19. Sounds great- good luck w that. Every once in a while I'll do the 7 club scramble. Usually not sure which 7 I grab till I've got them out of the bag. I've had some interesting club assortments. The only constant is the putter
  20. GM Y'all- HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!!! I got to take off early from work yesterday, so I went to practice my short game a while. Apparently my wedges figured out that I was thinking about replacing them and they threw a fit- couldn't seem to get any of them to work right. They finally came around and behaved themselves. It was kinda difficult w a First Tee kids clinic getting ready to start and everyone hovering around the area. So I cut it short and went to another course nearby and used their driving range- so it was a good afternoon for the most part. I hope everyone has a great day and a golf filled weekend. Lots of F&Gs with low scores and limited lost souls. We got this!!!!!!!
  21. I've got their predecessors and I love them. I saw all the changes and the "new" grind and think that it can't do anything but help a little bit more.
  22. I CAN'T.... GET.... THESE.... VOICES..... out of my head- Callaway's NEW RAW FULL TOE CHROME WEDGES- keep screaming at me- telling me I NEED them and they NEED a GOOD home where they'll be LOVED and APPRECIATED. They know they're not the prettiest wedges ever, but they'll give me EVERYTHING they've got and they'll make my SHORT GAME BETTER. I mean, I'm only SO strong.
  23. GM Y'all- Had a helluva T-Storm/Hail storm, then a little bit of hail just for good measure roll through last night(this morning). Weather radios and sirens seem to have everything timed just right- every time I'd start to drift off again- one or both would go off. At least the greens should be REALLY receptive. Too bad I won't be able to take advantage of it. Hope y'all have a great day. Nothing but F&Gs and LOW scores for those playin- and as a reminder- us worker bees got this and there's nothin we can't handle!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. Kinda like in the hospital when they wake you up to give you a sleeping pill
