  1. Sample bag? I'll do it in text so it isn't a huge post... Driver: Aerojet LS 9 degree, stiff Project X Hzrds Black FW: Aerojet LS 3W, Stock stiff shaft Hybrid: King Tec 3H, stock stiff shaft Irons: King Tour, 4-PW, stock stiff shaft Wedges: 50, 54, and 58 snakebite wedges Putter: KING 3D Printed Grandsport (I think the 3D printed style is super neat)
  2. Fingers crossed for the future testers! I'm definitely interested in participating in some of the challenges, though. Seems like I have a few twilight rounds coming up in the near future, even if the rain is still here.
  3. I've tested Ping 525's and i230's, along with Taylormade P770's through manufacturer's free demo days at Puetz Golf. I've never been fit for irons until recently. My current gamers have 95g regular flex shafts in them, and have a tendency to send the ball high. Changing shafts to 120g options (Project X IO for Ping i525, DG 120 S300 for Ping i230, KBS Tour $-Taper for Taylormade) added about 10-15 yards of distance along with very predictable dispersion. I had one pured shot with the i525s that went 15 yards further than the others, so they were removed from contention. Dispersion was similar between the i230s and P770's, but the P770's won out on distance. Though the fittings were only within a 30 minute window, I feel the testing was accurate and the shafts would be a definite improvement over my current setup. I'm excited to upgrade my irons soon, but it will be hard to decide what to go with!
  4. After reviewing their site, it looks like a lot of information isn't readily available. Even pricing info may require a bit of legwork. Are there any good in-depth reviews out there? The first few links I found didn't provide much info.
  5. My stupidity always makes me look to where the shout came from, definitely need to break that habit... Those are always my driver goals! Did you mostly focus on quieting as much of your body as possible, or is there another swing thought you used to implement the single plane idea?
  6. Of all the Direct to Consumer brands, I think Sub70 is top of my list. What irons did you have before you made the switch?
  7. My usual miss us a pull-draw left. Went to a beginner group lesson with my partner and found out my alignment was entirely off to the right, about 20 yards right on a 150 yard shot... Guess I'm practicing with my 4i as an alignment stick for a while!
  8. I hope they'll all try both ways. Seems like a quirky design, not sure it would ever take the spot of my driver or 3W.
  9. Hey all, I have collected quite the assortment of gear from Proud 90 (proud90.com) and figured I may as well write a review. I am a casual golfer with an approximate 16 handicap and located near Seattle, WA. Typically, rounds are either weekend or twilight due to my day job. Luckily, my workplace is pretty lax on their dress code, so I am able to wear more fun/colorful patterns whenever I want to. I have recently moved to the Pacific Northwest (PNW), but have also played rounds in Missouri and Florida. Playing conditions in the PNW are cold, windy, cloudy, and wet in the winters and spring, with dry, sunny conditions in the summer. Having breathable layers that dry quickly is very important to me, as they would be if I were still playing golf in the humid heat of Florida. I have been golfing since middle school, which amounts to about 18 years. I have not played consistently for those 18 years, however. I have gained a serious itch to start playing again after moving to an area with great courses nearby such as Chambers Bay and the Home Course. My luck has prevailed in Proud 90's PGA Tour Golf Fantasy League, and I have won a few polos and q-zips from them. I am happy to share my experiences with them as a company and from a product standpoint. I have acquired four polos and two quarter zips thus far, in a variety of patterns. The four patterns are "Sea Turtles, Mate!," "The Lightyear," "Holiday Pups," and my personal favorite: "Reptar." (As of writing this, it seems that Sea Turtles, Mate! is no longer listed, suggesting that the company likes to phase out designs). Proud 90 is currently shipping out their orders in blue, compostable bags. The site images are true to color and size chart true to size. For reference, I am 5'8", around 150lbs and a small polo fits well, without being weirdly tight or overly baggy. The quarter zips fit well in the same size, but the sleeves have a tendency to be pulled down through the golf swing. I will be testing a hoodie in medium to see if this changes with a step up in size. As far as durability is concerned, the polos and q-zips have been through the wash a few times, with no signs of color fading or material degradation. I have put the q-zips through their paces, though. They have been taken on hikes and I have noticed some of the material in my backpack straps. This has never happened while carrying my golf bag, however. Overall, I think the durability of these products is respectable and they should last a long while. Given the colorful, fun designs, these will definitely stay in the rotation for golf equipment. These designs may not please everyone's eyes, but they spark joy in my mind and remind me to not take myself too seriously on the course. This attitude is essential when I am a 16 HC and am very capable of many errant shots in a round. These polos outperform the older shirts in my closet and will be taking their places. Let me know if you have any questions at all, I'm happy to go further in detail if anyone is interested. I have attached a photo of the patterns of the polos, and I will try to get some more pictures in action when I'm on the course next.
  10. How has the black finish held up on this? I love the look, but seeing the finish fade so quickly on other irons (Titleist T100, for example) gives me pause.
  11. Thanks for the welcome! Which courses would you recommend the highest? I'm hoping to play Chambers Bay this summer, but am seeking to branch out.
  12. Currently have a lot of Taylormade, but that is subject to change soon. Looking to upgrade my irons, hybrid, and wood in the near future. I am very much more price-sensitive than brand loyal.
  13. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I am a weekend (or late weekday?) warrior who has played off and on for about 20 years. Usually score in the mid to high 80s, mostly let down by my chipping. What do you love about golf? I love that the game of golf is the player vs. the course. It's also an engaging way to walk a few miles in nature, and keep my What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I've read a lot of gear reviews from this site, and find it to be less biased than other sources. Most others always rave about the big products, but smaller producers like Wilson, PXG, and other DTC brands are hardly mentioned. TXG is another good source, but reading articles goes by much faster than watching youtube videos. I don't know anyone else on this site, but would be glad to meet others. Where are you from? What is your home course? Currently in the Seattle, WA area and play Bellevue Public Golf Course most times. I enjoy walking twilight hours after work as my wife and I hike on summer weekends. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? In Summer, the days are long and weather is nearly perfect. Numerous high-quality courses nearby, including Chambers Bay and the Home Course. Prices are high, however, especially with the influx of new golfers during pandemic times. In Winter, the days are short and weather is cold and rainy. With rain gloves and jackets, it is possible to play during the winter months if a nice day comes through. What do you do for a living? I am a Civil Engineer working in Hydrology and Hydraulics. How’d you pick your user name? Shamelessly stole it from a friend's mind about 1.5 decades ago. I haven't felt like changing even though it's ridiculous!
