  1. Mostly the same as everyone else - work + kids = lack of time. We just welcomed our second child, so I’m lucky enough to be on paternal leave, but my toddler’s daycare decided to close for spring break . So, currently chasing him around while changing the others diapers. My wife also likes making plans for us with friends and family, and strategically tells me about said plans when I try to hit some balls… Weather has also played a factor as we’re getting to the time of year here in the Midwest where we can see all four seasons in a matter of a couple days. All that said, I have a net and small mat, but haven’t set it up. I can definitely mix in laziness in there with time and kids.
  2. I’ve seen a lot of names for clubs and balls, so I’ll stay away from that. One area I haven’t seen much on is shoes, and I believe OluKai. Great shoe that works in all types of weather, conditions, and even of course. The price is hard to look at, but it’s equivalent to other premium shoes/brands.
  3. It’s a double edged sword - it’s nice when he gets the new equipment and I get to try it, but then I want it and have to find a way to hide it from the wife
  4. Good to know! I didn’t think of it this way. I’ve just always assumed they know best, but it’s hard to know if you got the best fitting without trying it all. But you’d also probably feel like you just played 36 holes afterwards. Thanks for the insight!
  5. Fittings have definitely helped me, but I'd say lessons are just as, or even more important. One detail about fittings that I've actually been thinking of myself recently is the reliability of the fitter. I've been fitted at Golf Galaxy for my irons and Golftec for my driver, which is also where I was getting lessons at the time. Looking back, I was not fitted for every brand during each fitting, nor fit for different shafts. I think it would behoove you to find a fitter that will allow you to hit all different manufacture's clubs and shafts. It may seem like common sense, but these were my first couple fittings since starting to play myself, and I hadn't thought about this previously.
  6. Will be keeping an eye out for results for a buddy of mine, specifically on the Qi10. I've had good luck with my Paradym, but he can't seem to get enough of the new equipment coming out
  7. I would love to see the Ventus line from Fujikura tested against the Tensei line from Mitsubishi and the HZRDUS Smoke RDX line from True Temper. I'm interested to know the similarities and differences from each style (or color, rather) and how it would help/effect golfers of the different swing speed categories. Obviously, this would be more geared towards drivers, woods & hybrids. I've always played the HZRDUS with my woods, but have always heard great things about Ventus.
  8. I will back this claim up all day! I just bought 4 dozen of the Tour X on sale at DSP for $110 - and I've always played Chrome Softs. Losing balls was getting too expensive until now but I don't feel the difference between these and the other premium balls.
  9. I wish I had made the shelves slightly deeper for my shoes, but overall very happy. Now I want to add something for my hats.
  10. Nice. My mom lives around Indian Creek, so we play that often. Also play Pacific Springs a bit too.
  11. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I’ve been playing since 2020 and have gotten my handicap down to 17 is that span. I’m typically shooting mid to high-80s, but will get into the 90s. What do you love about golf? I love the constant challenge and learning that comes with the game. I’m pushing myself to learn course management, when to use certain shots/clubs, etc. but also challenge myself mentally through tough shots or bad rounds. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I only know a couple of people within the forums, but looking forward to meeting more! I love the ability to learn about all types of equipment to help my game, but also the platforms to gain knowledge from others. Where are you from? What is your home course? I’m originally from Elkhorn, NE, but currently reside in Kansas City, MO in the Tiffany Greens area. Currently, my home course is Tiffany Greens GC. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? I think we can all agree that the winter months are the worst. I see it as a love-hate relationship, as it allows me to work on mechanics, but I won’t see the fruits of my labor until spring time. What do you do for a living? I work in the commercial and residential elevator & escalator business. I’m in sales/account management, and work with building managers and owners to help with their vertical transportation needs. How’d you pick your user name? Easy - keeping it simple.
  12. I just did something similar. Went online to get some ideas, made a blueprint, and started cutting away. Overall cost was $100, which is less than or about as much as you’ll see online/in stores. Super happy with how it turned out.
  13. Paradym driver was about to get the boot but I’ve come around to it, and have played quite well with it recently. I’ve also had a good experience with the Chrome Soft balls as well. My Stealth irons and wedges are causing some heart burn at the moment, but it’s all self-inflicted. Trying to convince myself (and my wife) to ditch the irons for a fitting of the Mk II. the only club in the bag that’s truly on the chopping block is the putter. I struggle with it, and contribute it to being a blade, as I’ve felt way more confident with a mallet when I borrow my buddies.
