  1. Yes I much prefer my balls clean! Back when the pandemic started they didn’t allow the ball washers on the course for fear of virus spread. So I found the “Frogger” to clean my balls with. I mark my ball on the green, clean it before my turn to putt and now is clean for the next tee. Hardly ever use the on course washers anymore. Link below? Not sure if I did it right. On Amazon and I’m sure some golf shops. 2. The only club I purposely back weighted was my putter-with a super stroke 2.0 with back weight. I like it. However, I did in effect back weight most of my clubs by regripping all my clubs with heavier multi compound grips. It changed my swing weight from approximately D1-2 to C7-8. Having lost the feel of the head caused me to lose tempo and rush the downswing. I immediately installed a tungsten weight inconspicuously inside the (generous) cavity back on my irons with some epoxy-bringing the swing weights back to D1-2. Problem solved!
  3. In my almost 50 years of golf there is one thing that helped me the most. For the first many years I struggled to break 100. Yes occasionally 90s and rarely 80s. Chronic slicer, hitting from the top. Decided in the early nineties to fix it. Bought many books, took a few lessons, etc. Nothing seemed help very much. One book I came across was “Quantum Golf” by Kjell Enhager. A short, fun read within the mystical fantasy golf genre. Within the story there was one thing that I had never heard in any other book or from any teaching pro, that helped me to stop hitting from the top and thereby help eliminate my slice. Don’t remember the exact words but basically; don’t stop breathing- at the top of the backswing, exhale as the downswing starts. If you try to “hit” from the top it will cut off your breath. By exhaling as you start the downswing it allows your arms to find the “slot” and therefore approach the ball from the inside to square to inside instead of outside to in, creating the slice. I had tried every other “fix” - strong grip, draw face angles, etc. - any fix or anti slice thing I tried - nothing worked because I was casting the club from the top trying to hit the ball hard and cutting across the ball. Oh sure sometimes it wouldn’t slice but would pull hard left - not much better! Now it is a work still in progress- when I started the process to quit slicing my handicap was around 25 or so. I slowly brought it down to an index of around 12+. Even broke 80 a couple times. It has crept up to 16+ the last few years. I think I’ll read the book again-probably been thirty years! Maybe some other things will hit me like the breathing did!
  4. Date 07/26/2023 Course Name Manitou Ridge Gross Score 89 Course Handicap 15 Gross Strokes over/under par 18 Net Score to Par 3 Net Score 74 Net Birdies or better 5 Longest Drive 220 Ok I’m happy I was still in the 80’s but not that happy. Too many weird shots seem to come out of nowhere after some great shots. Like a shanked wedge or how about a hoseled hybrid!! Very rare! Anyway starting out with birdie then par gave me hope that quickly vanished after the double bogey third. Anyway still glad that it was in the 80’s!!
  5. Date 07/18/2023 Course Name Gopher Hills Gross Score 84 Course Handicap 18 Gross Strokes over/under par 12 Net Score to Par -6 Net Score 66 Net Birdies or better 9 Longest Drive 225 Special Event Haven’t posted for awhile-so bummed how my game went down the tubes after things were looking up in June. Started looking up again yesterday shooting 84 after about 3-4 games in the mid 90s. Even had a 101 in the mix. Hopefully will continue on the better path going forward!
  6. Date 06/21/2023 Course Name Heritage links Gross Score 96 Course Handicap 16 Gross Strokes over/under par 25 Net Score to Par 9 Net Score 80 Net Birdies or better 5 Longest Drive 240 Another disappointing round. Never played this course before. Hot and humid today. ( I don’t like hot & humid) At least I only had two 3 putts but that may be more because of a lacking GIR stat. The greens were fairly fast and didn’t break as much as it looks. Too many double and triple bogeys. There’s always next week!
  7. Also clean grips on a regular basis. Soap and water with an old toothbrush. Rinse and dry with towel. Regarding golf hats- once the sweat rings show, I save up a few and then put them through the washing machine on gentle cold water. Spin dry then shape and air dry. Have probably too many hats! But some are 15-20 years old and still look great. Of course with so many no one gets more than a few wears per season
  8. I have a smart TV and have Peacock. $4.99 month. Have watched all day coverage yesterday and today. Not sure what happens on Saturday and Sunday but pretty sure it’ll be on NBC. I cut cable years ago and use antenna and a few choice streaming services. Of course need internet access with Wifi.
  9. Date 06/14/2023 Course Name Bluff Creek Gross Score 92 Course Handicap 13 Gross Strokes over/under par 20 Net Score to Par 7 Net Score 79 Net Birdies or better 5 Longest Drive 230 Started on hole 10. Played silver tees(6023 yds). Disappointing round. After starting with a birdie, reality set in. Greens are generally larger with plenty of slope and contours-had five 3 putts! Not able get it to the hole on the uphill putts! At least I have my MGS bag card now!
  10. Get the book “Swing the Clubhead” by Ernest Jones. Helped me learn how to swing through the ball instead of “hit” at the ball.
  11. Date 06/09/2023 Course Name Pheasant Acres Gross Score 86 Course Handicap 12 Gross Strokes over/under par 15 Net Score to Par 3 Net Score 74 Net Birdies or better 5 Longest Drive 240 Beautiful day! Tee time 7:40 am. Earliest I’ve played for many years. Usually 9-10. Other than a 9 on the par 5 fourth, continuing to make decent contact mostly and putting consistent. Had two chip-in birdies-one from about 25 yards! Handicap is slowly going down!
  12. Date 06/07/2023 Course Name Loggers Trail Gross Score 80 Course Handicap 11 Gross Strokes over/under par 8 Net Score to Par -3 Net Score 69 Net Birdies or better 6 Longest Drive 240 Nice day-not too hot! Best round in a long time. However, played from senior tees because others in group did. Other than a couple driving errors, most good. approaches better than usual and putting consistent- only one 3 putt-yeah! Must say fairways were mostly pretty generous. But course was in good shape, bent grass fairways- true rolling greens. More expensive than most courses I play but worth it once in awhile!
  13. Date 06/01/2023 Course Name Tanners Brook Gross Score 85 Course Handicap 16 Gross Strokes over/under par 14 Net Score to Par -2 Net Score 69 Net Birdies or better 10 Longest Drive 235 Best round so far this season. 3 birdies helped offset a triple and a few doubles. While I feel like my approach shots are improving my driving let me down a few times. Putting not bad although I did have some 3 putts.
