This can be confusing 🫤
DHura87 replied to Goober's topic in Lessons, Drills, Mental Game, and Fitness Tips
I would say that the YouTube golf pros know what they are talking about for the most part however, I believe what they are teaching is more for possibly honing ones skill once their swing has already been developed. More so like hey these are the things to look for when trying to get better at chipping or this is what is occuring with the ball and club when you slice or hook etc. The best training one can get is from an in person golf pro that can analyze and tweak your current swing to what will work best for you. -

How to teach a beginner golf
DHura87 replied to pkimbo's topic in Lessons, Drills, Mental Game, and Fitness Tips
If you are going the video route of learning there are several golf pros out there on youtube that are very knowledgeable (Danny Maude, Rick Shiels to name some) That being said I do feel that the in person lesson will definitely benefit the most when it comes to brand new because they can get that instant feedback. I would say once the is comfortable out on the course to at least play then start possibly looking into the video route to more so start to hone the game more. -

How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? Well been playing on and off for over 30 years now. My current handicap is 13 but is already trending downward. What do you love about golf? I live being outdoors and the fact that it is based on how well you perform. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? Was asking for testers signed up and now I'm not only putting my name in for testers but also gaining other information from other knowledgeable sources. Where are you from? What is your home course? From Ohio and I would say my home course would be Darby Creek What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Best, It's not to humid of a place so the long ball is a thing. Worst thing though is during colder months it is very hard to play anywhere. Also some of the very nice courses around require a membership which is hard in itself to obtain unless you know someone that is already a member. What do you do for a living? Work in a Hospital as a Clinical Engineer. How’d you pick your user name? Just used my First initial we with my last name. -
Why are you playing the ball you are? Vice Pro was a little cheaper option and felt great when I first played it. What drew you to it in the first place? The price point definitely helps being about 10 dollars cheaper a dozen. What made you change from your previous ball? Wanted to be different from others all playing Pro V1. Do you play a different ball depending on the season or weather conditions? No What/Why would make you change again? Currently getting ready to try out the Z Star so guess I already am changing. What ball will you never play, and why? Any of the lower end balls just due to my swing speeds and the performance hit I would take from playing something not ment for higher swing speeds.

I would possibly look at some hybrids and maybe a 3 or 5 wood. Also what are the current lofts of you irons. You are gonna be looking at clubs that kind of fill those gaps. I recently changed my irons and had a 10 degree gap between my PW and 56° wedge. I then ended up with a 50° to try and keep the gap between those clubs about as even as possibly. My good friend plays a 3 and 5 fairway wood with a 4 and 5 hybrid going into his 6 iron.
