  1. I’m jonesing to take a crack at a couple of different iron sets. Titleist T150/200 and the Ping Blueprint-S. Both just look so darn good to me!
  2. I’m gaming a Cleveland Huntington Beach 10.5c and can’t say enough good things
  3. Sticking with my Ping 430 Max 10.5 degree. Longest, straightest driver I’ve ever owned.
  4. Congrats on the 73!! And so happy to read of your success with the T350’s !! I’m in the market for a new set of irons this year and very eager to hit the T-Series. I’d love to slip into a T200/T150 combo set… but definitely going to take swings with the 350’s as well. Im never opposed to more forgiveness!!
  5. Putting... always putting. Golf and i have a strange relationship. I live in New England and my busiest time at work is from Nov-April or early May. I basically put my clubs in a spare room in mid-late October and that is where they stay until sometime in May when i can think about hitting a ball again. No weekend simulator sessions, no winter trips to play in warm weather.. i'm just too busy with work and believe me 6 mos. without swinging a club does nothing for my game. What i HAVE done the last couple of years is work on putting. A few years ago, I bought myself a PuttOut putting mat and the Perfect Putt gizmo. I work on my putting about 20-30 minutes almost every night. I also have a putting mirror but, aside from giving myself the ability to check my eye color repeatedly throughout the practice session, i just don't get it... Practice has helped considerably with what was previously some fairly abysmal putting. I've been doing this for the last 2-3 years with good results. FAR fewer 3 putts that before. My speed control is much better and my putting stroke is much more consistent. It's either practice, or my switching to a Huntington Beach 10.5c (center shaft) putter, right around the same time that has helped. I'd like to chalk it up to the added practice but maybe a little of both! Now, if only every putt was 6-7 feet, with no break, i'd be all set!!
  6. For better or worse, i have a very short memory. I don't hold grudges (ok, maybe one or two, but we won't get into that here ) So, for me.... almost every shot is an opportunity for a new start. If i'm on a heater, i just roll with it. If things have gone sideways, i just try to focus, slow my transition, which is where things usually get way too fast, and then put a good swing on the ball. Like a buddy of mine says.... "Hey, we're not that good... don't expect too much"
  7. I have a pair of FJ's with the BOA system.... i'm not a big fan. With the ratchet gizmo on the heel, i find that quite often getting in or out of a cart, the dial gets jostled and releases the tension on the laces which is a pain in the butt. I mean, it works but i find myself messing around with the dials way more than a pair of shoes with laces. I've got enough problems with my golf game.... i don't need to add wonky laces to the equation!
  8. Have you checked out Citrus Hills in Hernando, FL ? It’s a smaller but very nice community with some great amenities. Golf courses, Spa, Workout and Activity center.... a new resort style pool is being built as well. There homes (new and resales) as well as condos and some duplex properties in the community. There are also Maintenance Free properties within a gated section of the community where all outdoor maintenance is on a scheduled and rotating basis (lawn maintenance, outdoor painting and roof cleanings (the gated section has tile roofs). Citrus Hills is about 40 minutes west of The Villages. There are 4 golf courses in the community and many additional tracks in the surrounding area. Of the 4 courses in the community, one is their signature course - SkyView, which is always kept immaculate (in my experience). To be honest, the other two 18 hole courses were a little rough last year but have been in MUCH better shape as of late and more effort is being put into them. The 4th course is 9 hole track that I find to be fun and fairly challenging as well. Citrus Hills is only about 30 minutes from newly opened Cabot Citrus Farms (Formerly World Woods) which is spectacular. Twisted Oaks as well as some other very nice courses are within 10-20 miles. If you enjoy kayaking and boating, Crystal River is 20 minutes away with numerous opportunities... they don't call that area The Nature Coast for nothing. The area is also a haven for manatees.... which are a hoot to watch. I’d say it’s worth a look. It is a “quieter” community than The Villages, but the area is growing.
  9. Hey there gang! I'm a Southern CT guy and new to the forum. I have been playing golf since i was a kid (believe me, I'm not even close to being a kid these days!) Played a LOT of golf in my early years thanks to grandparents who played a lot themselves and got my brother and i into it early on. Then hit a stretch after marriage and once the kids came along during which i rarely played golf except for the occasional charity scramble. I got back into it as they went off to school and now that they are on their own, i get to play fairly regularly. I bounce around between a 12-15 index these days. I'm something of a Ping guy, playing i200's these days but think this could be the year i look for a new set of..... something. Titleist? Cobra? Tour Edge?? yet ANOTHER set of Ping's ??? i have no idea yet. I'm enjoying the forum, various topics, testing and overall banter that goes back and forth. Looking forward to participating when I can and hopefully bring something to the table with my input. Cheers!
