  1. Man, let me tell you how bad the spring allergies have just kicked me square in the golf balls. I’ve been down and out for almost a week and it’s be less than fun. Going to try and hit the range today, but the pollen count is supposed to be really high again even with a little rain we had yesterday. This makes me wish I had an indoor simulator haha. happy Tuesday spies!
  2. Thanks @KC Golf may get 10 rounds in 45 days, that would be on the high side though. I’ll probably just do the year subscription and see how it goes.
  3. Morning fellow spies! Woke up to frost on the ground, but temps should hit mid 60s today. Hoping to get in a quick 9 today to play around with the new Arccos set I got. Most of my weekend will be filled with little girl birthday activities as my daughter turns 7. Hope everyone has an amazing weekend. It’s almost Masters time!
  4. Arccos set arrived today… got an email for a “free” set of sensors after my fitting at Club Champion. I get a 45 day trial, so wanted to see if generally speaking everyone finds the data to be useful? What’s the best way to get started?
  5. I’m an Oakley guy all the way. Like the OP I have too many pairs haha.. I still love my OG flak jacket XLJ, they are my daily driver 99% of the time. I also have flak 2.0, Holbrook, frog skin, and an awesome set of split shot that I use exclusively on the water when fishing. One thing I will say is for those of you that go through lenses frequently, like I do with tiny humans getting their hands on my glasses, FUSE lenses are worth the investment. I started using them when I could no longer find the G30 Oakley lenses for my flak jackets. Both the prizm and pro versions are really nice and the customer service is outstanding!
  6. In-laws are right there with you.. just outside of Cooperstown. I’ve never seen my FIL soooo pissed about having to shovel haha. They were supposed to be headed here (Va) for spring break and see they grandkids.. Mother Nature had a different plan.
  7. Morning everyone! like a lot of other spies have said it’s a poop weather day.. 5-6” of rain expected here and the in-laws will be snowed in so won’t make it here today. curious, for those of you without indoor practice space what types of drills/practice are you capable of doing? I’ll be doing a ton of stretching the next couple of days.. post Pinehurst I’m really sore haha, but I’m looking for some ways to practice simple things at home between meetings.
  8. Pinehurst update.. played Pinewild, Magnolia Course this morning.. was a test for sure. Took 3-4 holes to feel right and loose, ended up with a 92. afternoon round was at Mid Pines… let me tell you this may have been the hands down best course I’ve ever played. It’s was BEAUTIFUL. I loved everything about that course, well groomed, elevation changes, tight greens. Everything I wanted on this trip and I played well 44 front, 40 back. Putter was doing work all round. I honestly don’t think I could have played better. Images attached. Tobacco Road is the final round tomorrow on the way out of town.
  9. Pinehurst was SO much fun! Anyone that hasn’t played it, you should if you can. We had the last tee time of the day on 4 and the three groups in front of us canceled, so we weren’t pushed at all and played fast. Similar to @ILMgolfnut my best club today was my driver, followed very closely by the putter. First round with the new Ai Smoke TD and it did not disappoint. Best drive was on number three, slight dog leg left playing about 380 today. I carried a left side fairway bunker that was about 260 and mush have caught a downhill just right because I had only left 68 yards as my approach. I’m not a long hitter by any means, but that was a confidence booster and carried me most of the round. That drive even made one of the Pace Rangers $1 when we came back around to #13. He said he saw my drive on 3 and bet another ranger I’d out drive the fairway bunkers on 13 . The one hole that ate me up was 14. Short par 3 well protected by water and traps. I hit two really bad tee shots into the left water and ended up with a 7 and took away any shot I had at shooting in the low 80s. Putting today is really what save me from shooting high. I was rolling the best I have in a while and was reading really well. Sunk a couple of 25 footers for par saves. Overall a really good first round to start my trip with a 43, 44. Tomorrow we play Mid Pines and Pinewood!
  10. Halfway to Pinehurst, stopped for gas so thought I’d check in! Bright sunny morning and the courses are just dying to be played! First tee time is #4 at 2:20pm today… so amped. Hope everyone hits them true today!
  11. My first good morning post on the eve of heading to Pinehurst! I’ve never done a “guys trip” so I have a feeling this will be like Christmas morning. Weather here in Northern Va is a little on the chilly side, but won’t prevent me from getting a practice round in this morning before packing. I know trips like this are supposed to be fun and all, but I’m nervous about playing well on some of these courses.
  12. Great goals and congrats and the soon to be new edition! I’ve been on a flexibility/golf workout hunt for a little while as well. If you’re on instragram I highly recommend fairwaygolffitness. There is some great at home workout content and tips to improve flexibility and rotation.
  13. Hi all.. new here, checking in from NOVA. How long have you been playing golf? Casually for 20ish years What’s your handicap or normal score? Just joined the VASGA and got my first official handicap of 11 What do you love about golf? I really enjoy the casual banter and social aspects of golf. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Product reviews as I try to really improve my game Do you already know any other Spies? not currently Where are you from? Burke, Va What is your home course? No "home course", but I play a good amount at TPC Potomac What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? best thing is the number of quality course, you can pretty much walk on any where you want to, worst thing is What do you do for a living? I work in sports and entertainment ticketing on the tech side How’d you pick your user name? It's my gamer tag.. I play far too many video games
  14. This is amazing.. In the wild I think I run into like 2-3 lefties a season.. who knew they were all here and have a club! #LeftyGang
  15. Hey all.. really excited about the 2024 season. I'm new here and love the idea of adding goals in a public space and hoping folks here can be "accountability buddies" haha For 2024 my main goal is to dedicate more to improving my game in total. I've just decided that it's time for my game to reach another level. I struggle with my short game a lot (80 yrds and in), so finding those at home/range drills is my first priority. I just started recording rounds for an official handicap, so a stretch goal would be to find improvements and reach single digits by the end of the season. Lastly.. having never been fit for irons before my equipment goals is to save the money to go back to Club Champion where I just got my driver fit and saddle up some new irons.
