  1. I've done it so many times it seems odd when I don't. The first time was 14 years ago when I was 64 and then it was a big deal. Now that I'm 78 I don't even think about it. I play often with good players that hit the ball much further than I do but I enjoy just trying to keep up. Golf certainly can teach you humility especially when you realize how old age affects your play. The guys here don't let you play the senior tees until your 80 but then they better watch out. HA
  2. Throwing a ball is done at your side right , not in front of you? To me side saddle putting is like pitching a softball under handed or throwing a beanbag, its seems pretty easy once you work out how long your stroke has to be to roll the ball a certain distance.
  3. I spend most of the year in south Texas and untucked is the only way to go. Hot and humid so we need all the air circulation we can get.
  4. I've been putting side saddle or face forward for about 8 years with a Cure rx2 from Veritas Golf. Developed a bad case of yips 30 years ago and had to start experimenting with different putting styles. Putted left hand for many years and that was ok but can see the line better side saddle. 42 inch shaft and the head angle is adjustable, the only real issue is the size of the head, took a while before I figured out how to quit hitting my foot on the back stroke. Long putts on slow greens are problematic but inside of 15 feet its fantastic.

  6. I have played Pro V1x for years but last year started playing Vice Pro Plus and am very happy with the performance and price. I'm playing the fade orange and yellow, easy to see off the tee and find if I miss the fairway.
  7. As I've gotten older it's all about loft and carry for me. I use a 16.5 3 fairway and a 7 wood. Never crazy about hybrids my 7 wood has a 5 wood shaft and works very well for me. At almost 80 and still a 5 handicap I've experimented with many different club combinations and the 7 wood just works best.
  8. Typically 1 hour early, I'm old so it takes a while to smooth things out. Hit a small bucket, chip and then putt a bit and hopefully shoot a little better than my age.
  9. I read an article years ago that talked about the life of golf balls. Supposedly it takes 250 shots with a driver at tour speeds before you need to replace them. Obviously that means if you don't damage them with cart paths, rocks or something else abrasive you can play one about as long as you don't lose it.
  10. Looking forward to being a part of the forum I'm 78 yrs old, live in South Texas and go through way too many golf clubs in a year, nothing else to spend money on.. Currently gaming TSR2 driver, hl3wd and 7wd, don't care for hybrids. Mizuno JPX 923 forged irons and wedges with Modus shafts. Am currently trying a Fujikura axiom 105s in my 7 iron considering changing to srixon combo set with the axiom shaft. Handicap is a currently a 5 but can still shoot an occasional 65 depending on how the putter works. Have dealt with the yips for over 30 years so switched to side saddle many years ago. I've gone through 5 sets of irons and tried maybe 6 drivers in the last year so I guess I qualify as a junkie but hey it's fun to try different things.
