  1. Traditional woodworking with only hand tools has taken over much of my free time. It's as relaxing as golf as you don't have loud, dangerous machinery, just simple tools. I buy used vintage tools as I like to imagine who used them and what they built with the tool I now have in my hands. This is my favorite tool I've acquired so far. It's a moving fillister plane circa 1857. It's used for cutting rabbet joints. Made of wood, brass and steel. Just really neat to use, works just as good as a powered router. 2. I had planned on playing an early morning round today, but 10 hours at Six Flags yesterday wiped me out. I try tomorrow.
  3. For MB I'll go with Seven X Shinagawa MB's Player irons Hogan Ft. Worth 15 Don't really have a favorite game improvement club at the moment. Sent from my Nexus 5X using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  4. It's tough because of course a tester wants to be impartial, but you also have to have some interest in the product. I am an iron guy. I love hitting irons. I have played many different brands and styles from Super Game Improvement to blades. I thought of putting my name in the hat for the Ping i200 irons or the Callaway Steelheads, but I am so happy with my irons right now I don't want to mess with what I have, which would probably have allowed me to be a bit more impartial during testing. The only thing in my bag I have thought of changing lately is my driver, so I put my name in to test the Epic. I'd like to see how it will perform against my deep faced Cleveland Classic Custom XL. With drivers though, everyone wants to see the numbers; spin rate, smash factor, carry distance, launch angle, etc. I don't have a launch monitor and I couldn't compete with the great MGS 2017 Most Wanted Driver test, so I'm contemplating what my testing method would be and how I can give the great members of MGS a different take on the Epic if selected. I love that MGS gives us these great opportunities but it is hard work and very difficult to keep up with MGS' already excellent testing.
  5. Don't turn 41 until September so I get to vote for the younger 31-40 age bracket!
  6. I only walk. There are a few nice courses near me I never play because they are designed for carts with long distances from green to next tee box. Just not a fun walking course. Walking burns calories, allows a rhythm with my clubs clacking as I carry. I can walk straight to my ball and I don't need a range finder as I just count my steps after I pass the closest yard marker. I ditched the pull cart a few years ago, I find it easier just to carry my clubs. Sent from my Nexus 5X using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  7. Judas Priest The Hellion- Electric Eye. Great walk up song. https://youtu.be/DUCRFMZ-hiY
  8. I like Joe's acoustic stuff even better than his electric playing. He is incredible at both!
  9. Big Derek Trucks fan. I was at the Tedeschi Trucks shows in Oakland last September that they recorded for their new Live in Oakland record/DVD. Awesome band. Also saw Govt Mule at the same venue, The Fox Theater about two years ago. I love the Allman Brothers Band and those two groups are about as close as you'll get to a modern equivalent. I just started getting into Frank Marino. I had Google Music on mix and a really cool song came on I hadn't heard before. I looked and it was Mahogany Rush. I had heard of them but never listened to them before. They seem like a cool band.
  10. I've seen so many great guitarists live, Robin Trower, Johnny Winter, Pete Townsend etc, but my biggest regret of my concert going career is never seeing Rory live. I have all of his concert dvds and watch them quite regularly. You're right. A really humble guy. Seems like a great guy to hang out and enjoy a Guinness with.
  11. Been listening to Elmore James all day today. Picked up these two gems on National Record Store Day Sent from my Nexus 5X using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  12. I know seasick Steve, but didn't think anyone here was a fan of the late, great Irish blues-rocker Rory Gallagher. What a force of nature he was.
  13. A good cordless drill. Dewalt or Milwaukee. Spend a little more for them. They last. Nothing worse than buying a tool twice.
  14. I had PCB's about 15 years ago and just didn't like them. I don't know if it was the shaft the forging or both, just never got that sweet Forged feel with them. Just felt kind of dead. I'd hold out for the PCB Tours as, like you said, they are supposedly Miura forged. I recently saw a set on the bay recently that looked to be in pretty nice shape. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  15. I've been just throwing darts at the range with my new old Mac CB92's. I haven't been this accurate with my irons since I played my Dynacraft Pro Cavities 10 years ago. I've been really excited about my game again. Go to the course today and pay for my greens fee and get a warmup bucket. First three balls with the wedge fly beautifully. Then on the 4th...SHANK!....right off the hosel. That's weird I thought. Haven't had that happen in a long time. Next ball...BOOM...another hosel rocket. OK, what's happening. Next 4 or 5 balls, shank. Man, what am I doing? I pull out my hybrid, hit a few nice shots, go to my 4-iron, nice solid contact. 5, 6, 7 irons all flying good. Get to my 8 iron...Shank! 9 iron....Shank! I'm now out of balls and at this point I think to myself, "I can't tee off yet, I can't hit a short iron!" I get another small bucket, make my grip a bit stronger and put my headcover down just on the other side of the ball to make sure I don't hit it. OK, now only 1 out of 3 are Shanks. I'll take my chances. I tee off and am having a good round. Hit the turn and after a bogey on 10 reel off 4 straight pars. I realize I'm 7 over after 14. Man, I might break 80 the first time out with my new old sticks if I can keep this up, maybe get a birdie for good measure. Good drive on 15, and then it happens. Second shot, 8 iron from the fairway...SHANK. OK, now just a wedge...Shank! OK, just get on the green with your SW, it's a 15 yard chip...SHANK! Took a 7 on the par 4, 15th. After a par on 16, I go bogey, bogey to finish up with an 84. I had a 115 yard approach shot on 18 that seemed like the hardest shot in my life. Man. I was scared to hit that shot. Anyway, sorry for the long winded response. I feel you man. And I just wanted to type SHANK a bunch to get it out of my system.[emoji16] Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  16. Nice! Anytime you see Ping Eye 2's it could be a newbie or someone that has gamed them for years. But the Sonartec, that was a really popular fairway wood on a few of the golf forums about 10 years ago, and if someone was still gaming it with some Eye 2's and a Titleist driver, I'd assume they really know their clubs well. 17. That's a beautiful bag. I'd be wary of a money game with anyone wielding those sticks! Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  18. I just bought a KBS C Taper Lite shaft and shafted up my 3 iron in my Mac CB92's so my bag is set. Really don't want to change a thing club wise. I do want to switch up my ball selection though. Played the MG C4 as well as whatever else I have lying around but I think I want to go with a lower compression Urethane ball this year. The ultra low 35 or so compression I'm just not digging, and I think 90-100 compression is out, what is a good middle ground? Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  19. Exactly why I haven't jumped on that deal, I play 1/2" over standard. Well, that and I have no money for new irons right now [emoji26] Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  20. That email caught my eye too. What a deal! Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  21. Just checked my local Costco and the didn't have them. Only one store near me has any. 600 available at the Danville, CA Costco for you Bay Area Spies. Sent from my Nexus 5X using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  22. I was looking for stand bag comparisons and a google search brought me here. The forum seemed like a group of guys just chatting after a round, not 3000 people in a thread bashing each other. One of my first topics I posted was regarding Hogan's resurrection and whether Macgregor could do something similar. We had a real nice discussion about that. Made me want to chat more here. It's funny how many people come for the "free stuff". I think most people don't realize how much work it is to review a product. I've done one review for MGS and had fun doing it, but it didn't feel like I was getting free stuff. It took time to thoroughly evaluate and write a proper review. I haven't even applied to test again as I haven't felt like I've had time lately to properly test and write a review, but I'd like to give it a shot again in the future. 23. Yeah it's funny. If you read that catalog page it doesn't mention the words, "distance", "further",or "longer" anywhere in it. I've never understood the need for more distance from my irons. That's awesome that you custom ordered a set of PMB's back in the day. That must have been incredible the day those were delivered huh? Do you still have them? I had a set of PCB's I gamed around 2002 or so. Never liked the shafts. That's why I bought the CB92 as heads only and added the C-Taper Lites. I think both the CB92's and the PCB's used the same Apollo shafts. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy

  25. Yup, I'm not sure how long they kept the old lofts, but if you can't promise more length, you're not gonna make it in the current golf climate. Found this page from the 1992 Macgregor catalog. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
