  1. Nice! Anytime you see Ping Eye 2's it could be a newbie or someone that has gamed them for years. But the Sonartec, that was a really popular fairway wood on a few of the golf forums about 10 years ago, and if someone was still gaming it with some Eye 2's and a Titleist driver, I'd assume they really know their clubs well. 2. That's a beautiful bag. I'd be wary of a money game with anyone wielding those sticks! Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  3. I just bought a KBS C Taper Lite shaft and shafted up my 3 iron in my Mac CB92's so my bag is set. Really don't want to change a thing club wise. I do want to switch up my ball selection though. Played the MG C4 as well as whatever else I have lying around but I think I want to go with a lower compression Urethane ball this year. The ultra low 35 or so compression I'm just not digging, and I think 90-100 compression is out, what is a good middle ground? Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  4. Exactly why I haven't jumped on that deal, I play 1/2" over standard. Well, that and I have no money for new irons right now [emoji26] Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  5. That email caught my eye too. What a deal! Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  6. Just checked my local Costco and the didn't have them. Only one store near me has any. 600 available at the Danville, CA Costco for you Bay Area Spies. Sent from my Nexus 5X using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  7. I was looking for stand bag comparisons and a google search brought me here. The forum seemed like a group of guys just chatting after a round, not 3000 people in a thread bashing each other. One of my first topics I posted was regarding Hogan's resurrection and whether Macgregor could do something similar. We had a real nice discussion about that. Made me want to chat more here. It's funny how many people come for the "free stuff". I think most people don't realize how much work it is to review a product. I've done one review for MGS and had fun doing it, but it didn't feel like I was getting free stuff. It took time to thoroughly evaluate and write a proper review. I haven't even applied to test again as I haven't felt like I've had time lately to properly test and write a review, but I'd like to give it a shot again in the future. 8. Yeah it's funny. If you read that catalog page it doesn't mention the words, "distance", "further",or "longer" anywhere in it. I've never understood the need for more distance from my irons. That's awesome that you custom ordered a set of PMB's back in the day. That must have been incredible the day those were delivered huh? Do you still have them? I had a set of PCB's I gamed around 2002 or so. Never liked the shafts. That's why I bought the CB92 as heads only and added the C-Taper Lites. I think both the CB92's and the PCB's used the same Apollo shafts. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy

  10. Yup, I'm not sure how long they kept the old lofts, but if you can't promise more length, you're not gonna make it in the current golf climate. Found this page from the 1992 Macgregor catalog. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  11. Yeah, I don't think I'll ever shaft that 1 iron up. It would be fun to try though. I took the 4,6,and 8 iron with me to the range today along with my KZG's. I hit them really about the same. The Macs might fly a tad higher with the lower kick point of the C-taper Lite shafts. Obviously the Macs are a bit shorter as the lofts are very weak, 50* PW if I recall correctly. Gonna play on Thursday but not sure which bag I'm gonna take. It's been raining so much here that it's been awhile since I've been out, might need to just go with the KZG's. 12. The 1 iron looks like it's never been hit[emoji6] Sent from my Nexus 5X using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  13. Yeah, these heads are in as close to new as you'll find without being NOS. Sorry I don't have any refinishing tricks, these just were pretty much unused. Glad to hear you got to hit yours Barbajo. Those Macgregor forgings are pretty sweet huh? [emoji16] Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  14. Seeing as we've had a lot of talk of classic MacGregors lately, I thought I'd start a thread dedicated to the sharing of everyone's vintage MacGregor gear and information. I'll start it off with my early 90's set of MacGregor CB92 forged cavity back irons. As I said in another post, these were the clubs I wanted as a teen but couldn't afford so I decided to get a set. These CB92's are sort of a restomod. I bought just the heads, sourced some NOS MacGregor diamond ferrules that came on the 1025 irons like Barbajo just scored. I then shafted them up with KBS C-taper lite shafts. Right now I have the 4-SW in my classic bag, but I also have the 1,2, and 3 iron heads if I ever want the entire set finished. I added a late 90's Tommy Armour 350cc driver, a Cleveland Classic 5 wood and a vintage Bullseye putter to round out the set. As much as I love my KZG gamers, this bag is just as cool. Quality old forgings from the USA and just the basics. Everyone feel free to add your vintage MacGregor scores here. I'm sure Big Stu will fill this entire thread but I got a few more vintage MacGregor items on the way [emoji1]. Sent from my Nexus 5X using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  15. I was familiar with the article about their history and demise but hadn't heard about the ball problems. Thanks for sharing. Be careful with those 1025 CM's. They might give your current gamers a run for their money. I don't want to admit it but I probably hit my cheap Mac CB 92's better than my KZG's. The KZG's are so nice, probably more forgiving due to the larger head, but the Mac's are so accurate. Personally, I find turf interaction the most important aspect of choosing my irons. The KZG's have more of a radius on the sole, the Macs are flat. I'm not sure if the 1025's have the old school Mac sole Grind or if they are more modern. Those 1025's should be a lot of fun. 16. This is like trying to get concert tickets or the NES Classic. Log on right when they go on sale and hope for the best. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  17. I'd be interested in trying out some of these balls. The gel White look good to me, not big on any colored golf balls. I'm not on social media so while I've been playing MG C4's and have just got Vice's Selected dozen to try out, a web search of vision golf balls brought me to a site with a homepage with a big 2013 on it. Makes me think Vision is out of business. Let me know how to get a some, I'd like to try them head to head with the other small brands I play. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy

  19. Very nice looking bag there mr.hicksta. Wouldn't mind throwing that bag over my shoulder for 18 [emoji16] Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  20. I wonder how the Kirkland Ball will affect the smaller guys like Vice, MG C4, Snell and so on? I mean their business is built on have a Pro V1 challenger for less, but no way they can compete with a costco ball's price. I really liked the MG C4 and at $20 a dozen it was a great price, but now pretty much the same ball from Costco at $30 for 2 dozen? I think I'll be switching to the Costco ball. 21. Well between these balls being out of stock and the scarcity of the NES Classic, my stocking is gonna be empty this year[emoji26] Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  22. I was just thinking this morning that I wanted to buy a few dozen of these so I went to Costco's website and they were sold out. An hour later someone posts in this thread that they were back in stock. What are the odds that the day I think about them, they come back in stock? Unfortunately, I went to Costco's website and they are sold out again! [emoji51] Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  23. I've never rolled a Miura putter before, but I'm sure it's nice. I think the reason Miura putters aren't as well received is because the golfer whose tastes for high quality niche irons (Miura's) have equally discerning tastes in putters, which I'm sure means limited edition Scotty's or Tyson Lamb or something else north of $500 that has a reputation. 25. I just bought a set of early 90's Macgregor CB92 heads, 1-PW for a winter project. I remember when they came out, man I wanted those clubs but no way I could afford them. Made a deal for the heads for $110. I think I'm gonna shaft them with some KBS C-Taper Lite shafts, but not sure I want to put that much money in what is basically a back up set. They are actually quite similar to my KZG's I play now, so I figured I could try out a different shaft then I currently use and have fun with them. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy mobile app
