  1. I feel the exact same way. I live right next to a private club and there is many more walkers. There is also much talk of the game dying, losing golfers, and not nearly enough new players taking up the game. I think carts are a problem as to why. Women overwhelmingly walk more than men. If getting women to play is important to growing the game, they can't charge cart rates to walkers. Women are more interested in the exercise benefit of golfing than men are. Also similar with younger people. 20-something's I know don't play golf because they are into Hiking, Camping, Ultimate Frisbee, pickup basketball, etc,; all sports that require physical activity. They look at golf as old guys riding around in carts. I'd love to find a local course with no carts or cart paths. All walking. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. Have been getting to the range, but not the course. My wife has a new job with a set schedule for the first time in 14 years so I can actually make plans to get out and play more. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. I got out for a quick 9 today. First time playing since last August. Shot a 43 with 5 pars. I was cruising along with 4 pars and 3 bogeys until I reached #8 where I took a 7 on a par 3. [emoji12] I was happy with my iron approach shots, but both par 3's my iron shots from the tee were horrendous. Putting was pretty good, drives were pretty good, chipping was so-so and thankfully didn't land in the sand at all as my bunker play has been awful. Nice to get out on the course though for the first time in awhile. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Congrats on a great round! Good luck on breaking 80. I'm still looking for my first sub 80 round as well. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. I'm 41 and a stay at home dad. Before that, I was an Video Editor/Producer for a professional sports team and also edited shows for The Outdoor Channel and The Design Network. Prior to finishing school, I worked as a professional gambler, playing in California card rooms. Once my kids are all in school I'd like to go back to work. Maybe I'll start another new career. 6. I'm not living on the air in Cincinnati, so no, I'm not really Dr. Johnny Fever. Rock n Roll has been a big part of my life though, I play guitar, collect records and attend a lot of concerts. I also bore a striking resemblance to the good Dr. as I had longer, thinning hair and a handlebar mustache. When my oldest daughter started kindergarten I realized that as a stay at home dad meeting lots of moms I should probably clean myself up a bit as not to scare away potential friends of my kids. 7. Pinnacle Golds. Man, what an awful feeling ball. Ok off the driver but off an iron or wedge no spin and just felt terrible. For a new ball, I was really disappointed with the original Taylor Made Project A. For a premium urethane ball it didn't perform nearly as well as the MG C4 or Callaway Chromes for me. 8. My Machine M5 putter arrived and it is a beautiful piece of kit. Needed a headcover for it so I thought I go a little crazy with some exotic leathers. Black gator, Cream gator, Pink Gator, and blue lizard skin. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  9. One problem for me is cost for how little I would use it. I probably pull my hybrid out of the bag twice a round so spending $200+ for a seldom used club isn't very appealing. I started a thread a little while back about chipping with a hybrid. I'm trying to convince myself to keep it in the bag by getting more use out of it. I'm playing on Saturday and won't have the new shaft for my 3-Iron head so the hybrid will stay for at least one more round. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  10. Yeah, I think the Ping Crossover might be the way to go, the Mizuno looks good too, also the Titleist TMB. Lots of options, time to start investigating. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  11. I feel I have given hybrids enough of a chance but these things don't work for me. I'm at a loss as to why. Perhaps I just need a fitting but I've tried small head hybrids; larger, almost fairway wood sized hybrids; both stiff and regular flex shafts and I've not found one that I am consistent and fully confident in. I have full confidence in my 3-wood as well as my 4-Iron, but that spot in the bag between the two I'm lost. How many of you have switched from a hybrid to one of the new driving/fli hi irons that seem to have become pretty popular in the last few seasons? For now, I'm just shafting up the 3-Iron again and it's going back in the bag. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  12. Man, the agony of the wait. 😀 Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  13. I don't know what has come over me. I'm supposed to be selling yet I keep on buying. Picked up another vintage Ping putter which was just a few bucks but then last night decided to splurge on a Machine M5 putter. It wasn't even a drunken purchase. 😀

    P2 Grips

No I went with the Tour. Like you said the regular is 182 grams which is crazy. I think I'm just old school. I grew up in the 80's playing mismatched blades and persimmons from the 50's and 60's that my grandfather had in his barn. I still play pretty narrow soled forged irons. Now, I'm no Luddite. I have a 460 cc driver with graphite shaft, and even a hybrid in my bag, but I've never seen much need for putter tech. It's putting. Children do it at mini golf courses everyday. I think many times we get caught up in tech instead of just using the simplest tool to roll the ball in the hole. I did want to try the latest and greatest just to see if I was missing something. Well, I tried it and it's just not for me. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy

    P2 Grips

Yeah, maybe jumping in with both feet wasn't the best way to go. I had no real complaints with my Ping Zing 5 or Ping J Blade. Just thought I'd give all this cutting edge stuff a try. I've actually amassed a small collection (5) of vintage Ping putters and putt pretty well with all of them or my 1950's and 60's blade putters. Doesn't really make a difference in my scores. P2 Grips

Well, I've taken the Cure CX2 with P2 Reflex Grip to the practice green 5 times now and I don't think this whole high MOI large grip thing is for me. I have always been a pretty good putter, I learned as a kid to grip the putter with both index fingers pointing down each side of the shaft. That method has always kept me from getting wristy in the stroke and it has worked for me. The large putter grips like my previous Super Stroke and now the P2 also keep you from get wristy in your stroke, but the oversized shape made it impossible to take my normal grip, which then made the club feel unstable to me, though it would probably work for others. That feel combined with the size and weight of the high MOI head just didn't result in more made putts for me. I pulled out my Ping Zing 5 and was making more putts and the small grip felt more natural. I'm sure this combination will work well for someone, I'm just not for me. This one will be in the Classifieds soon as I'm going back to my classic Ping and blade putters. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  17. I'm going back to the old tried and true Ping PP58. It is super skinny which flies in the face of everything putter companies and grip manufacturers think we should be using these days but they just work for me. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  18. My wife and I were walking to Safeco Field for a Mariners game on our first trip to Seattle in 2005. We walked by the Filson store and I looked at the stuff in the window (they were already closed). It was the first I'd heard of them and had no idea what their stuff cost. Went online to check out the prices and couldn't believe it. To be fair, looking at the stuff through the window, it just looked so well made. I'm sure once you buy something from them it will last you a lifetime. I'd like to try some of their stuff some time. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  19. You mean Filson? I can't even afford a pair of shoelaces from there $$$$$$$ Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  20. And Eddie Bauer. All that stuff never goes out of style. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  21. Oh No, a 3-piece cage is dope. I'm talking vests for warmth. They look good, especially in an LL Bean catalog, but I don't see the use. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  22. Has the world gone mad! The 1% vest manufacturers have gotten to all of you! My wife has a bunch of vests and says I need one. I told her she is crazy. Have I been wrong about vests this whole time? 🤔 Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  23. What is this “snow shoveling” you speak of? [emoji16] So vests are only practical if you plan on doing something active, not just casual wear? If I'm raking leaves in the yard I'll start in a flannel or sweatshirt and once warmed up remove them and finish in t-shirt. Once finished I put said flannel or sweatshirt back on. You haven't won me over in my disdain for vests [emoji14] Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
