  1. I'd love to test these. My current gamers are the original Edisons. I have used up to 4 of them 47*, 51*, 55*, 59*. Currently I'm using the 51* Edison, a 54* PXG Sugar Daddy (original), and 59* Edison. I have loved the 51 and 59 - the 51 especially around the green and the 59 especially for longer pitches and full shots up to 85 yards. For some reason the 55* Edison never worked out for me (still haven't figured that one out), so I had to replace it, thus the PXG. The 47* has also been really good and competes regularly for a spot in the bag with the AW from my set (ST Pro's). All that to say, I'm a big fan of the original Edisons and have been pining to try the 2.0 version. So, I think I could be an ideal tester to compare the Edison 2.0 to the original as well as to compare it against some of its competition from other Wedge brands. My most meaningful data would be taken directly from my experience playing with them on the course, but I would also supplement it with data from range sessions with my Garmin R10 launch monitor, CT-10 club sensors, and practice green sessions. Pics and videos would be part of the review presentation.
  2. I tried it a couple years ago and have loved the result. It recommended Chromesoft X, Tour B X, Pro V1 X, Chromesoft X LS, and Maxfli Tour as my top 5. I've been playing the Chromesoft X ever since the recommendation after experimenting with several different balls previously (Maxfli Tour, Z-Star, Pro V1, AVX, Cut Blue, TP5 X to name a few). It has been a great ball for me - longer off the tee than the balls I had previously tried, feels good, spins well around the green and off the irons but without ballooning or having excessive curve ... I also like the feel. I have no desire to experiment anymore except to maybe try the Tour B X ... According to Ballnamic, it is the best at minimizing curvature, which seems like it could be beneficial to my game.
  3. Definitely looking forward to this one. I use the first-edition Edisons and am a fan, so these second-editions are strongly on my mind.
  4. I think there's a good chance you could gain some distance with the 223 ... maybe get half that distance back you lost. To get more back, you would likely need to go more game-improvement with the stronger lofts and lower CG's. You could stay in the Mizuno family and go with something in the Hot Metal lineup.
  5. Mizuno Experience, near the Battery (Atlanta Braves Stadium), had every Mizuno club available to hit, so you can hit the full gamut of the irons, and think through a combo set or whatever. Relatively inexpensive fitting cost. I had a really good experience there. The two drawbacks were that the shaft selection was not the best, and it was an indoor bay (I greatly prefer outdoor).
  6. I've been struggling with my non-glove hand getting pretty torn up by practice and regular rounds. Does anyone else struggle with this? If so, what is your solution? Extra glove? Tape? Tough it out? Is this anything like playing the guitar where it hurts like crazy at first until you get callouses on your playing fingers and then it's all good?
  7. I didn't find paradym to be overrated when I hit it at a recent fitting. I found it to be really good. It wasn't as long as the longest low-spin models, but that's not what it was designed for - that's the Triple Diamond's competition. I did find it to be very long for the overall forgiving driver category which fits the biggest swath of golfers. And, I found it to be extraordinarily forgiving/consistent. That has also been reported by at least one major robot test done by True Spec. All that said, it's always going to come down to individual preference, fit, and performance ... and how a shaft-head combination pair together for an individual golfer. For my fit, I would've been tempted to say that G430 LST, or TSR2 is overrated ... because they didn't work well for me with the shaft I was fit into that day ... But, they're not overrated, they just didn't work for me with that shaft. Another member here just posted his recent driver fitting where G430 LST was the overall best for him. I would've thought Taylormade Drivers (Sim, Sim 2) were overrated because they didn't work well for me when I tried them in the past ... Well in my recent fitting, the Stealth 2 Plus was my winner. So, you just never know. When a Driver is labeled as "Good/Great", what that means to me is that it works well for a lot of people.
  8. Very cool; glad you shared that experience. I have an interesting comparison of my own recent fitting with yours. I also previously gamed a TS2 that I got fit for in 2020 by Club Champion. I felt like I wasn't getting all the distance I should be getting but also still felt pretty "married" to that Driver because I knew it so well and it was fit for me. Well, I got a very inexpensive fitting at Mizuno Experience in which the ST-X 230 with an X-Stiff Hzrdus shaft got me at least an extra 10-12 yards, which then got my curiosity itching even more, so I bit the bullet and got fit at True Spec. Long story a little shorter, I found the 430 LST to be very spinny for me - just about the same spin as my old TS2 and the Mizuno ST-X 230. So, for me it was significantly shorter than the top 3 - Paradym, Aerojet LS, and Stealth 2 Plus ... and I found that I had less control with it than those as well. For me, Paradym was most forgiving/consistent, Aerojet LS was longest, and Stealth 2 Plus was best overall (almost as forgiving as Paradym and almost as long as Aerojet). I gained somewhere around 28 yards of average distance with any of those three over my old TS2. Now, I think I would also attribute just as much credit to the newly fitted shaft - a Ventus TR Black 6X (a lot more stiff and stable than the previously fitted one). Even my swing speed went up 3-5 mph just from switching shafts. Just shows that each one of us might have a different sword that comes alive in our hands, which, to me, just adds to the coolness of Golf. On course, with the new club I started out pretty rough the first two rounds, but the new Driver and I have gotten to know each other a lot better with some extra practice over the last two weeks and I'm finding it to be close to what I hoped - longer and just as accurate (maybe even a little more).
  9. Would love to hear more about your fitting experience - Which heads and shafts you tried, how they performed for you, and how you settled on TSR3 and Hzrdus. I got fit recently also, and TSR3 is one I wish I had insisted on trying. My fitter suggested trying TSR2, which didn't perform well for me. Otherwise, my fitting was great, and Stealth 2 Plus was my winner, with Paradym and Aerojet LS both impressing as well (Ventus TR Black 6x). TSR3 has gotten some good reviews, most notably from TXG (I guess Club Champion now) and their Driver bracket contest.

2023 Mizuno ST-X 230, 9.5*, Kai'Li Blue 50S. I love this Mizuno head, but the shaft doesn't fit me - not quite stout enough and launch is higher than I need. I bought this new, took it out of the plastic, hit it 5 times into a net and knew it wasn't my fit. It's in perfect, like new condition.

    $340

  12. I'd like to hear about how you determined the shaft.
  13. Love my Sim Max 3-wood, Zero desire to change. Easy to hit, goes long, and hits a nice controllable shot ... can also be worked either way if you want. I can hit a geared down fade 240 or a geared up draw 280 - which allows that to be my only fairway wood - My next lowest club is a 3-rion that I can hit about that same 240 distance, depending on the lie. Should be able to be bought for a bargain right now. Of course, shaft will matter just as much, or maybe even more than the head, to achieve whatever your goal is for a particular club. I think that's especially true in the long game clubs.
  14. Glad to hear you hit them well! Oh, and love the Bull Durham reference.
  15. I'm 6'1" also, so this has definitely got me thinking. Thanks for the info.
  16. I forgot to say another great thing about the process. I got there about 45 minutes early. A staff member of the Club met me in the parking lot and brought me a cart, super friendly guy. I told him about my fitting and mentioned that I would LOVE to play just a few holes before the fitting just so I could get my "normal" golf feel going into it. He let me do that for free! I played like 5 holes before heading to the fitting area (really nice course, btw). Of course, I hit a few extra drives on each tee box to get good and ready. I REALLY loved that and think it helped me feel better about the whole process. I also forgot one negative about the process. They didn't really have any "stock" shaft options to compare to. For example, Pete did say that if I wanted to go stock to save some money, that the Hzrdus Smoke/Black 60g 6.5 or the Kai'Li White 60g X would be the closest to the Ventus, but he didn't have those to test. To me that is a big deal. I really would like to have a good idea of why I'm spending this money. If I have those stock options to try, then I can say: Well, they're pretty much the same or the stock option may actually be better ... OR, I can say, I'm getting an extra 15 yards and tighter dispersion with the aftermarket ($$) option ... And, then I can truly decide what it's worth to me. Well, I did find the Stealth 2 Plus with a Hzrdus Smoke 6.5 available through the Global Golf UTry program. I ordered it ($25 for 2-week trial) and have used it for the last 2 weeks. I also just got the components in to make the Ventus version two days ago, so I'll be looking to try to compare them head-to-head with my Garmin R10 launch monitor before I have to send the UTry one back. After using the Hzrdus for a couple of rounds, I have noticed the distance increase from the old gamer, but I think the Ventus is going to be better for me overall.
  17. His name is Pete Weber at the Cartersville Country Club.
  18. Interesting on the 1" shorter shaft. I've been pondering that some lately as well. So, at 1" shorter than standard does that mean the shaft length is around 43.5" and the installed length plays around 44.5"? What made the fitter suggest it? Is it mostly a function of your height and wrist-to-floor measurement? What fitter did you go to?
  19. Maybe try another Ventus ... the TR versions add extra stability to the butt/grip section to go with what was already a super stable tip. You could jump all the way to Ventus TR Black. That's what I just got put in (6X) and I found it to be very stable and fast. A lot of the distance though can be affected by your spin number relative to your speed and launch angle. The Ventus TR Black is low launch, low spin for players conducive to players with higher swing speeds and launch angles that would otherwise produce too much spin and launch. I would think the hulk shaft would be similar. So, if you end up with too little spin, then the ball will fall too quickly and cost you distance.
  20. Yeah, I am definitely having tipping issues as well. My son is 3 and weighs 35 lbs, so when he's in the stroller it's not an issue, but I like to let him get out and hit the ball with his little sawed off club that I made for him. So, when he gets out, it tips every time unless I remember to park it on a nearby slope facing downhill with the brake on. With your stroller design and with your baby's weight/age, this would be a LOT bigger concern. With my stroller if it tipped backward, it wouldn't be so bad because the kid is tipping backward with his head resting on the backrest ... It would scare him, but not hurt him. With your stroller's design, the kid would tilt forward with no head/neck support, and that could be really serious, especially at your kid's age/size. Scary.
  21. @Cshane12 It's nice when there's a clear winner - the longest and most consistent. Helps to remove all doubt from your mind and just commit to playing and getting better with those irons knowing they're the best for you. I also really liked the 223 and would game them in a heartbeat. Were you able to test multiple irons in the 223 set when you bought them or just the 6/7 iron? How was your first time out with them yesterday?
  22. I played Callaway Big Bertha irons with a Callway RCH-90 "firm" graphite shaft, from 1996 until 2020 (firm means something between regular and stiff). That's a long time. In all fairness, they were a great set of irons for me as a casual golfer (like 5-10 times/yr) over that span. I started playing more the last 3-4 years (1-2 times/week), and wanted to get some irons to take on a new golfing journey. I feel like I've had a pretty hard time finding my set. On a whim, I tried some Ping Blueprints at a PGASS and hit them great. I would've forked out the money to buy them that day, but as fate would have it, they didn't have them in stock ... I still sometimes wonder what might've been. A day later, I got a used set of Callaway Apex Pro '16's, with Project X 6.5 shafts from an Edwin Watts store. That turned out to be a big mistake. I never hit them well and started s&*%'ing the ball ... took a WHILE to work that out ... made me want to quit golf ... maybe it was that they were a half-inch long (which the fitter said might be good for me, I'm 6'1"), or it might just have more to do with the fact that I played a "firm" graphite shaft iron on a "game improvement" iron (before game improvement was even a normal golf term) for 24 years and then tried to switch to a heavy, x-stiff metal shaft on a player's distance iron. I think my body had just learned to live in the rhythm/timing of that shaft and had a lot of trouble adjusting. I bought a set of (VERY) used Bridgestone J40 Irons with Neo 105 GH shafts for $150 out of my local club proshop. I have really liked them. I'll also say this, they are the best feeling, softest, butteriest, irons I've ever hit (including a buddy of mine's Miuras). I have now gone through 3 iron fittings. My 7-iron swing speed is 96 mph and I have an aggressive transition. I have been told by multiple fitters at the beginning that I need a heavy, extra-stiff shaft. And, then with each one, they moved me to a lighter graphite shaft and found that I hit it so much better. First it was a Club Champion fitting in 2020 where he ended up putting me in a Mavrik Pro with Steelfiber i80 stiff shafts. A couple months ago I went to Mizuno Experience at the Battery (Braves Stadium) to see what getting fit there is like. Same thing, started with the heavy, xstiff stuff ... then moved down to MMT 105 XS. Everything was smoother, better contact, flight, etc. If they had any lighter shafts, she would've tried them but they didn't. She had me in the Pro 223. I really liked those and have thought seriously about purchasing them. Then I went to a PXG fitting... Same thing ... The guy ended up putting me in the 0317 CB with KBS 80 S shafts ... again, the selection of graphite was not great. Finally, I noticed that my club's proshop had gotten a Callaway ST Pro demo 7-iron with a Tensei AV IR White 85 Stiff shaft. I took it out multiple times and hit it great every time. So, I bought a used set of them from Callaway preowned. Been playing with them a month or two now and LOVE them. The game feels pretty easy again. They feel great, perform great, good spin, height, distance, playable draw stock shot, can fade it if I need to. I don't dread the 180-yard par 3. I play the 3-iron all the way through the PW. The 3-iron is a great T-ball option if the situation calls for it. I guess this would be a "self-fitting" after learning stuff from the professional fittings. I would say this setup is probably close to the modern version of what I played back in '96 as a teenager. I still keep the J40's handy for practice as I think it does benefit my ball-striking, and I think it's fun to play with them every now and then for a change of pace and challenge.
  23. I went to True Spec, North Georgia for a Driver fitting a couple weeks ago and thought I'd share my experience. Previous Gamer: Titleist TS2, Accra FX 2.0 - 250 M3, fit by Club Champion 3.5 years ago. It's been a good driver, was pretty good for a push-draw stock shot. I kind of always felt like I wasn't getting all I could out of it. My swing speed with it was usually around 108. My good drives were usually somewhere in the 280's, best drives right at 300. Before that, I played a Ping i15 with a stock Ping shaft (heavier and stiffer than the accra), and I think I was longer with it. I went to Mizuno at the Battery (Braves Stadium) to get a fitting a month ago ... I'd definitely recommend it because of the very reasonable price. I mostly went for the iron fitting but the Driver part was interesting. The Mizuno swing analyzer thing had me swinging a 7-iron 96mph with a very aggressive transition, so it recommended all the stiffest shafts. So, the fitter had me try a Hzrdus Black 70g X-Stiff with the Mizuno ST-X 230 Driver and it was easily 10-15 yards longer than my Titleist. 280 was gone, everything was 300-ish. That got me to really thinking and you know how it is, I had to get a more comprehensive Driver fitting, which took me to True Spec. I chose True Spec North Georgia primarily because it had the indoor-to-outdoor fitting environment. I like that so much more than indoor. I feel like I just don't swing my swing when I'm in a bay hitting into a Screen. Something about feeling closed in and lack of true immediate feedback of ball-flight. So, the True Spec fitter also said he thought I definitely needed a stiffer shaft. He clocked me swinging the Titleist with the accra around my normal 108. Then he had me try a Ventus TR Black 6X. Immediately my swing speed jumped to 111-113 and stayed there the rest of the fitting. THAT was intriguing to me. He said even though the Ventus was heavier than the Accra, sometimes a person's body/mind can perceive when they're swinging something weaker or stronger and will compensate. That was definitely true of me even though I didn't know it for these last 3 years. Now, what I did learn is that I also can't hit my normal push-draw with that stiffer shaft. So, when I was trying to do that, I was hitting a pull hook (awful). And, that may be why the Club Champion fitter put me in the Accra - because it "got along with" and promoted that push draw. But, what I could do with the Ventus was hit a straight shot (Who knew?!). So, I stopped trying to hit my push draw and just started hitting it straight with a small fade or draw sometimes. My main miss with my previous Driver was a push-fade, when I'm trying to draw it (a secondary miss was an overcompensated hook). The fitter said that was primarily a product of the weaker shaft that couldn't keep up as consistently with my swing speed/transition. I think he was right. With the Ventus, it didn't feel like that push fade was even possible. OK, so we found the shaft!! And, I've learned some very valuable info about my swing and what shafts can do for it. On to the heads... He tried me first in the Mizuno (because I told him about that previous fitting). Then he asked what else I'd like to try. I told him the usual suspects: Titleist TSR (I said 3, but he said, Nah, I think you need 2), Taylormade Stealth 2 Plus, Callaway Paradym (he thought the regular Paradym over the X or Triple Diamond), Ping G430 (He recommended the LST over the Max), and Cobra Aerojet LS. So those were the candidates. I'll put them in the order I tried them: Baseline (Current gamer TS2): Club Speed: 107.5, Ball Speed: 154.5, Spin: 2931, Total Distance: 281 (12.7 std dev), Control: Good. STX-230: The Mizuno had a decent showing. Club Speed: 111, Ball Speed: 161.1, Spin: 2975, Total Distance: 287.9 (8.9 std dev), Control: Good. TSR2: I wanted to give Titleist the first shot since that was my previous gamer. It was decent, but my face contact wasn't great with it. Club Speed: 111.3, Ball Speed: 161.5, Spin: 2975, Total Distance: 288.3 (12.4 std dev), Control: OK. G430 LST: I wanted to give Ping the next try since I played a Ping Driver for a long time before the Titleist. It was surprisingly probably the worst performing of all. Club Speed: 110.8, Ball Speed: 162.4, Spin: 3285, Total Distance: 281.1 (12.2 std dev), Control: Awful. Paradym: No reason for the order from here on, just what the fitter gave me. Paradym was very impressive, good distance and excellent consistency. These were my 7 shots: 307, 300, 297, 308, 305, 299, 299). We now have a strong leader in the clubhouse! The fitter said that Paradym performed really well in True Spec's robot testing ... that it significantly outperformed others in "forgiveness" with very small drop-offs in ball speed with off-center face contact. Club Speed: 112, Ball Speed 164.3, Spin: 2576, Total Distance: 302.2 (3.9 std dev), Control: Good. Aerojet LS: Wow ... This thing was amazing ... for better and worse. It hit bombs! But, it was very unforgiving. Big discrepancies, but the bombs made it very attractive. These were my 7 shots: 310, 322, 319, 271, 269, 296, 326. 4 out of 7 were great, 2 were clunkers. And, I had trouble with missing it exceedingly high on the face. The fitter said he had seen this often with the Cobra with the high face contact. He said he had a PGA pro in there recently who had the exact same trouble. But, man, I am super intrigued by the distances I was getting ... For that alone, this one has to remain in contention. Even the clunkers weren't that much shorter than my good drives with my old gamer. Club Speed: 113, Ball Speed: 162.1, Spin: 2281, Total Distance: 301.7 (21.6 Std Dev), Control: OK. Stealth 2 Plus: I have never gotten along with Taylormade Drivers, so I didn't have high expectations even though it won the MGS best driver award... This Driver stepped up to the plate and changed the game. It rivaled the consistency/forgiveness of the Paradym and the power of the Cobra. I could swing it confidently and make decently consistent face contact. These were my 8 shots: 307, 306, 309, 305, 309, 303, 300, 326. The MGS winner was also my winner! Club Speed: 111.3, Ball Speed: 164.8, Spin: 2275, Total Distance: 308.8 (6.8 std dev). Control: Good. The fitter then tried me in a Tour AD shaft just to be thorough ... He said that shaft had a little less torque than the Ventus. Club and Ball speed went down slightly and we could tell that from a few shots it wasn't going to be as good. Then he tried an Autoflex (X-flex), at my request, and at his reluctance. Definitely not a fit. I had to gear back to swing it OK. One thing I'll say about it is with a geared back swing with less effort it was doing pretty well. I could see it benefitting some people (maybe me as I age). So, from that day to now, I've been looking for (and ordering) a way to build the Stealth 2 Plus with the Ventus TR Black 6X shaft on the cheap ... and I'm also going to try to do the same with the Aerojet LS just for some experimentation. Man, that was a really fun experience, and I'm feeling a lot better about myself and the distances I can get. I didn't think the pros were swinging THAT much harder/faster than me, but with my old setup, I couldn't imagine averaging over 300 on drives. I also didn't think equipment was going to make that much difference. I'm glad to be wrong. I was really amazed ... almost every driver with the new shaft setup was going to be a significant improvement over my previously fitted one. I mean I'm gaining like 27 yards on average from my gamer to the Stealth 2 Plus. That's crazy. One thing I think I'm losing in this new setup is the ability to hit a playable draw. I am almost certainly changing my stock shot from a push-draw to straight or slight fade, but that may end up being an added blessing also. I'm seeing why most of the pros are hitting fades with their equipment setups.
