TBynum
In what year did the major clubmakers stop making simple "Straight Ahead" drivers and start creating all this equipment with biased club faces and adjustable hosels? Here's the reason I ask ... I have always played older equipment. Always looking for a deal on something online or at my local shop. Example, right now I am playing a TM R9 driver with a shaft I retrofit from an even older TM Superfast driver. I have that REaX shaft in my 3W, so I found one online, cut it down and added the adapter so I could attach the R9 head. But what I'd really like is to find what I call a "Classic" driver from Titleist or Ping (or similar) ... that is still a "Straight Ahead" design without all the gimmicks. Looking for makes/models as "NEW" as I can get without all the trickery. Would love to hear some insights ...

It serves multiple purposes particularly from a fitting perspective and once fit you really shouldn’t change the settings. But to answer your question most OEMs went adjustable in the early 2000s. There have been a few in recent years; Cleveland comes to mind, that I have tested as part of most wanted testing. I’ve been testing since 2017. NM01
Agree with above none of what you state is trickery or gimmicks. It allows for the golfer to get an optimized fit for their swing and ball flight and can be adjusted quickly when needed. Its a big improvement over the bonded drivers from a fitting standpoint and the added weight that comes from the adapter has been accounted for in the design.
