Shankster’s Demo Day Shenanigans 2024 Edition

Recommended Posts

Howdy friends,

I spend a good chunk of today at the demo day.  Taylormade, Mizuno, Titleist, PXG, Callaway, PING, cobra, and OoXI or whatever it is was there.

Let me start off by saying I didn’t have my best swing today.  I went to the Mizuno tent last, and used this swing analyzer that I’ve always wanted to try.  It was quite telling if it is actually accurate.  +2 attack angle with an iron?  That makes sense on why I am missing them right currently.  Like I’ve mentioned I vary from level to ever so slightly down… but plus 2… I don’t know if I believe that. Especially since I was taking a divot.

Alright, let’s get down to brass tacks.  You know me.  I hate bulky irons, so I only hit the blades and CB model of the brands… stupidly I didn’t think to take pictures of the Taylormade stuff… but once again my first swing of Shanksters Demo Day Shenanigans was Tiger’s 7 iron.  I absolutely love the shape of this iron, but the feel is off.  It’s hard, just as described that he likes.  It’s such a beautiful golf club.  Hit about 10 of these.

Next up was the new Taylormade CB… not gonna lie, I am super jealous of the testers on this one.  This is one of the best feeling Taylormade clubs I have had the pleasure hitting.  The lines are gorgeous, it’s compact, and buttery soft, you guys are going to enjoy them.

A little further down, was my favorite part of the day.  The Titleist tent.  It just so happened that they had full sets of the T150, T100, CB, and MB to try out.  Oh my goodness.  I spent the most of the time at this tent, I did hit the 100 and the 150, but they were meh, didn’t care for them.  Moved on to the CB, and MB.  There was a point when I had the MB and CB 3 irons battling for the stripe show.  I used both the CB and MB PW around the chipping green with great results.

I then tried Callaway’s Apex MB.  Didn’t try the CB because it was too chunky.  This was a very good club, the shaping was a little sharper around the edges than I like, but overall a great club, good job Callaway.

Cobra, man… I tried the CB, didn’t like it very much, it is a very compact head with a wide sole.  I also tried the MB, it is better than the CB, but these went backwards from the previous model… very unfortunate.  They look good, just don’t have that feel, I also tried the Tour.  Very comparable to the T100s as far as feel and performance.

PING……. Probably the biggest surprise of the day.  I hit the Blueprint T and S, and the i230 for good measure.  The Blueprint S was probably my favorite club of the day… except for the offset, PING really needs to do something about that.  I can’t do it.  The T… whoa man, what a gorgeous and super good performer.  I love that club.  I was striping the 3 irons in both of these.  The T has come a long was since the blueprints I tested for the forum.  They are more blade like.  Loved them. The wedge is shaped awesomely, but I couldn’t find a sole I got a long with.

Mizuno… they got me on wedges.  I’m going to order the T24’s.  So so pure, and their D grind worked flawless around the green.  Did I mention they were forged?  A lot softer feeling than the irons.  I tried the 241 blade, but it was harder feeling than the TM Tiger blade.

I don’t really have much to say about PXG.  They are gaudy, and feel terrible.  I tried, I really did.

End of the day.  I was striping the Titleist MB with the stock shaft so well it is hard to imagine not buying them.  The thin sole works so well for my swing, even better than the CB, I ended up hitting 3-PW in both the MB and CB.  I just can’t believe how well they did, I even tried the 150 and 100 3 irons but even my miss hit with the MB was better.. how does that work?

Anyways, if you guys have any questions let me know…

Oh, and about this guy… 👀
