  1. Looking on pulling the trigger on the Golf Slingshot for sequence training and potentially some more speed training. Unfortunately there isn't a ton out there that goes really in depth on the product. Are there any fellow spies out there that either own one or tried one and if so what were your results?
  2. So I ended up benching my 56° TAIII wedge for my round this past Thursday and subbed back in my SM8 56° for the day and my practice sessions since then. The main reason for this was I just got the yips with the TAIII in my hands while on the course which is strange because practicing with it there are zero issues and still genuinely love the wedge. I think my indoor practice is able to hide the fact that maybe the sole grind and 12° of bounce just aren't for me when it comes to actually being out on the course. I'm reasonably sure I mentioned this in my review but looking back I think the 54° bent 2 degrees weak might have been a better fit for me. I will say though on a positive note the 60°LB is still very comfortably in the bag and isn't going anywhere any time soon.
  3. So I am in agreement with this. I don't like the idea of the ball being rolled back but its gonna happen anyway so it is what it is. What I also dont agree with is how little its going to be rolled back because especially at the tour level 15yds is not a lot and they can easily gain that back over time. Hell the group coming up in 6 years is gonna be overcoming this because they have been training speed their whole lives. What's going to be interesting to me is how much distance is lost on the misses. does a good shot lose 10-15 but a miss now loses 30 additional yards from what your miss would have been with the current ball? To me that is where things can become actually game changing and you can appreciate those well hit shots more.
  4. This might be an interesting take but since the rollback is only going to take 15yrds from the pros and thats only like a club for them why not make the hole itself smaller. One club difference to them isn't that big a deal but if the hole diameter shortened by a half in or so we would most likely see a lot more missed putts and thus higher scores. Everything else can stay the same but if that 70% make percentage from 6ft becomes 50% scores would be going up and the game would get harder without changing much of anything else.
  5. A little late to the unboxing party but here are some photos of the SMS. I went with Dynamic Golf X100 as the shaft since I play DG 120's and the additional shaft weight of Tour Issue X100 never bothered me all to much and for grip I just went with tour velvet midsize so nothing fancy on that end. Put of the box these things are absolutely gorgeous and I was very excited to hit them as soon as I got them. They definitely are a larger profile iron from the back and sole but for the players distance category they have a great shape. The thing that stands out to me the most is there is a fair amount of offset but its not off-putting and I love how short the blade is from heel to toe. I would say its a bit smaller than my ZXy's however the ZX7's have a thinner topline and less offset as well. and that satin finish is I will admit a nice touch over a shiny chrome. There are some negatives of unboxing though. The first one is that the SMS and my ZX7 are both supposed to be the same length on paper but the SMS is 1/4in shorter. Now I haven't taken them to a ruler yet as I don't have access to one but I have had my ZX7 measured before and I know that it is deadnuts 37.0in. I did get the SMS iron 1° upright so this may be the reason it appears shorter so if anyone has any insight on this possibility I am all ears. Having hit them since their arrival they don't feel shorter and they don't play any different than my ZX7's in terms of length. The bigger negative for me though is that I never received a tool for the weights in my shipment. I will be reaching out to Edel about this issue and report back however it is also not a major issue as I have an allen key I can use on my own but it is a slight disappointment.
  6. That's a great point. I had them bent 1° upright so that would make sense.
  7. Noted. It's not big deal as the club was still shipped without a single scratch but curious as to others experience.
  8. Demo arrived yesterday. Did anyone else's demo arrive without the club head plastic wrapped?
  9. I'm going to be doing almost all of my testing indoors and so far I have found the TEST ball to be incredibly soft to the point where every iron shot feels out the middle. I haven't done any driver testing yet but so far this is proving to be a very low spin ball with PW and 7i. Gonna also save the wedges for last since it seems that the durability might be an issue based off of the other testers feedback so far but we shall see.
  10. Got the shipment notification that my SMS 7i will be delivered on the 7th!
  11. On Black Friday Edel offered a 60 day free trial of an SMS 7i built up completely to your specs from shaft to lie angle to which ferrules you would want. I was able to sneak in there and scoop one up to test. While I fit more into the SMS Pro it was to good of an opportunity not to pass up. I'm really looking forward to doing some small testing on my own especially after rereading all the reviews.
  12. I almost went ZX5 in the 4 and 5 irons but I'm really glad that I didn't. I tried them out in a 6i during the fit but my fitter and I agreed that we would still have plenty of height with the ZX7 and the ZX5's would be going too high for that end of the bag.
  13. UPDATE ZX7's are still comfortably in the bag and I'm gonna game these irons till the grooves wear out. Lot of really great irons out on the market right now but I really don't see anything giving me much more in performance that what I am getting with these clubs. They are for sure safe for another season and I still have no complaints about them.
  14. *Quick update* The SM8's have been out of the bag for a few months now and have served their purpose for my golf game. I have moved on to the Sub70 TAIII's which I was fortunate enough to test and liked them so much that they have a permanent spot in my bag. The main reason for this decision is that the SM8's were nearing the end of their life cycle and the fresh grooves from the TAIII's was a welcomed change. These wedges still have some life left in them and I am saving them for a travel bag that I am slowly building. As a final thought I still think fondly of the M grind on my 60° and I truly think that for me it was the best wedge for my style of play. Feel free to check out my review of the TAIII's through my signature.
  15. A little update here. The TSR3 is still comfortably in the bag after a full season of use. It has not been smooth sailing though and has had its ups and downs but this was all due to me losing my driver swing for a short period of time and trying anything to fix it. I messed around with settings to toe weights to different shafts and lengths. Ultimately I would end up back to the UB7x with a hosel change to B1 which to me became a lesson in trusting your fitter and if it's not working after a good fit its the Indian not the arrow. However, out of my love for tinkering and knowing I have a solid setup in the bag I was able to find a HZRDUS Blue uncut with the blue PVD finish for a steal of $180 and treated myself for my birthday. This was not a random decision though and is a shaft that I have tested in the past and was almost fit into. I also was a big fan of the HZRDUS Smoke yellow so this less of a leap of faith and more of why the hell not with the goal of slightly lightening the swing weight to pick up a bit of speed and maybe some consistency. What prompted the change was that while on my best days the setup was perfect with plenty of control on a beautifully piercing trajectory providing both carry and rollout I felt I needed to be swinging fast to reach the full potential of the shaft and I didn't feel like I had control unless I was swinging at about 115mph on my PRGR. So far I am liking the change and will post an additional update with some photos and numbers but so far this gamble is paying off.

  18. Test balls arrived last night. Let the games begin!
  19. Thanks for the info. Now I can finally get some true numbers on my actual gamer ball once testing is complete.
  20. Love the resourcefulness. Does it need to be in any orientation to work best?
  21. What kind of tape is that on the balls. I intend to do a hefty amount of Trackman testing myself. Typically I use RCT balls but that won't help too much for the TEST ball.
  22. I am actually currently carry both a Srixon ZX utility 2 iron and a Mizuno CLK 3 Hybrid in my bag. I tend to rotate them out depending on the course conditions but typically I favor my hybrid as it's just much more consistent with a slight fade. It for sure wins on the ease of use compared to the 2i and I like the additional distance I get out of it as well.
  23. Wedges have been completely safe in the bag and my short game hasn't been in as good of a place in a long time. According to arccos it's my best aspect of my game and I am gaining 2.2 strokes per round compared to someone of my handicap level (12) and 0.9 strokes gained compared to my target handicap of 4. Last weekend they led to 3 birdies in one round and having my putter do the rest. 3 birdies in a round for me is a lot since I average about maybe 1 every 18 holes. One thing that I would like to add is that my 56° has just a hair too much bounce for my liking. When it comes time to get new wedges these will for sure be in consideration however I would potentially go with the 54° and have it bent 2° weak to get the same loft and gapping but have a little less bounce which is something I prefer. These wedges have no problem in the bendable category so that wouldn't be a stretch at all.
