  1. Looks like he apologized already: Edit: I like the comments it picked up.. haha
  2. At my skill level, I don't realistically have any hope of holding a green from 220+ all I'm looking for is nGIR (obviously, it makes sense to have the best tool to hold the green). I tend to hit pretty high in general, but it looks like my 5i has a descent angle around 35-38* That isn't giving me a great chance to hold a certain distance as it tends to run quite a bit after landing. So I think perhaps a 4H is the best option for me (and probably to replace my 3U with a 3H as well). The upper end of the bag is a challenge for me to find the right clubs.
  3. It's a bigger number, so of course it is better /s (honestly no idea, but I'm looking at it for a 4H. I'm torn between a 4H, 4U or a 4i. I need something that gets a bit higher in the air, so I'm leaning hybrid, but I don't know.)
  4. Looks like a beauty! Let us know how much you love it What is the adjustability on the hosel?
  5. Sorry to hear that @RobyM. It is in fact a grind. I tore mine on April 22nd, I didn't end up having surgery given my age and the advances in functional rehabilitation. I also caught it really early and was off it quickly. The doc thinks I'll have a same/similar outcome to surgery, so it was a pretty easy decision. I'm now at week 11-12. I was out of the boot at 10 weeks post injury. I also did my left foot, so it is my front foot. The golf swing doesn't have a lot of push off on the front foot, so I got the go ahead to play golf wearing my lace up ankle brace. I've been to the range twice and played 9 twice (cart not walking). It gets really sore after nine and I can feel it for sure. It really hasn't effected my swing that much, but is a good excuse for playing poorly Just be careful, it's a long ways back and a re-rupture is my deepest fear right now. There is light at the end of the tunnel, but still no light running until October for me.
  6. @Sub70What is the loft adjustability on the driver head?
  7. Update.... now out of stock (that was quick)! Good work to the lads @Sub70 hope to see some reviews soon
  8. Looks like you can now get a 9* head with your choice of shaft. While I have the swing speed to hit a 9, I'll probably hang on till the next ordering window to see what the options are. (A lot of this depends on when I can swing again after my achillies injury... I'm hoping early/mid July)
  9. I like the 3W, but it hasn’t had a real working over yet… I tore my Achilles a couple weeks after I got it. I have the hzdrus black shaft, cut down 1/2”. It has a very penetrating flight and just rips. We don’t yet get along all the time, but I like it a lot.
  10. Oooh boy! Looking forward to it! We will need some reviews as well
  11. There is a swanky club in Utah called Victory Ranch that I have played a couple of times. They have so may tee boxes on the par 3s it is ridiculous. It really allows a lot of variety for angles and how you play them. The 17th has 14 tee boxes
  12. I've had my eye on this for a bit (849 Pro Driver). The release date says June 2021... which is now halfway over. I'm really curious to read some reviews once they come out. Anyone hearing anything (paging @Sub70 ). I just finally learned to hit a driver in the ballpark, so it's time to replace my old TM RBZ Stage 2 (the dings on the top are just not acceptable anymore). I'm really looking forward to seeing how this turns out!
  13. Every now and then I come across a video of someone with a truly bizarre golf swing. It got me thinking about the swing in general. Most people seem to have an idea of how to make a swing that "looks" like a golf swing (it may not go as desired), but every now and then there are some people that just can't figure it out. Which one are you and what was your experience?
  14. It's sadly a long recovery time, but it would be nice to pass the time doing a little of something. Thanks for the ideas @alfriday101 there are certainly some pros and cons to working on different balance. @jlukes I totally hear you and these are my exact concerns.
  15. For sure, from reading the boards it looks like you are very familiar. I'll be at a wedding in Raleigh Durham, so it would be a quick hop over there (relatively). I'm not likely to make it back down that way again, so I really want to check it out.
  16. I tore my Achilles tendon at the end of April. I'm now about 5 weeks into my recovery. I should be shifting off crutches in the next week or so, but I still have a walking boot (and will until the end of July). With the Achilles injury, they put several removable wedges in the boot to keep your toe pointed and bring the ends of the tendon close together. Essentially, my left leg has a 3-4 inch heel compared to my right. I'm anxious to start putting and chipping a little bit, but am worried about grooving some terrible habits based upon the height differential. As the wedges come out during the healing process, this will start to mitigate. It would be half swings (at best) for a while, but I'm worried about doing more harm to my swing than good. Does anyone have any similar experience? Have you played in a walking cast/boot before?
  17. I currently have a 4 wedge set up (45, 50, 54, 58). I could drop the 50 and work on a shorter swing with the PW, but why. I'd be adding something that theoretically helps me stick greens that I have a minuscule chance of hitting in the first place. The flip side is strokes gained says I should be working on that longer end of the bag and would benefit from greater consistency there. Getting 10 yards closer from 230-250 makes a big difference. I'll probably not do anything about it in the near future, but it's the one area where my bag setup has questions.
  18. Thanks, I've been lurking for the past year... it seems like a great community. I've been noodling this question for a while. I'm currently 3W, 3U, 4I and 5I at 200+. I perhaps have a gap around 230-240, but I'm not consistent enough with these clubs to really have the gap turn into anything clearly identifiable. One thing I've been toying with is adding a 3 or 4 hybrid to get a little higher flight on some of those shots. In "theory" it would help to stick greens at that distance.
  19. I'm still sort of new to the game, Covid year was my first real year dedicating some time to the game. At my skill level I'm not exactly hitting greens from 200+, but I'm pretty athletic and can carry my 5i ~200. However, I'm wayward at this distance and inconsistent with my ball striking. My personal question is, does it make sense to add another long club or another wedge? For the group, how many clubs do you carry that you can hit over 200 yards? Cheers!
  20. I'll add my own Sub70 fanboy post. I bought a set of 699 Pros after demoing them this winter. Loved the clubs, I got the Dynamic Gold S shafts and just love the ball flight. I'm still learning to work the ball, but they have proved to be great so far. I also got a 3U with a Project X shaft. It's an amazing club and I can rip it 230 under the wind. However, hitting off mats this winter, I snapped the shaft right at the hosel (I did get to fulfill a lifelong dream of driving the ball collector when I went to retrieve my club head). I emailed customer device and sent a picture. They apologized for the defect (not sure it was) and sent me a return label. Within two weeks I had a my club back in hand. After about another month, I cracked the shaft at the hosel again (I'm sure I was coming in steep on mats). I emailed again, same process, but we discussed shifting to a steel shaft. They found and held a Project X U shaft for me. They installed the shaft and re-gripped the club. The only cost to me was a $30 for the non-standard shaft upgrade. Back in hand after two weeks. I love the clubs so much, I bought a 3W Pro with a HZRDS Black shaft. It's a beauty and when I catch it it just screams off the club with a nice piercing ball flight. The customer service is amazing and cannot be beat. I'm on beyond happy with all of the clubs and will be upgrading the driver this summer with 849 Pro.
  21. It sure does look like there is an abundance of really nice courses in the area. More than likely I'll just go poke around at Pinehurst and play elsewhere (unless I end up staying at Pinehurst). It's been fun to read through this thread!
  22. What sort of handicap is should I be shooting before tackling Pinehurst #2? I'm thinking of playing there end of may next year. I'm about an 18 now, but am improving (or was until I tore my Achilles). It's a bucket list course, but I don't want to go out and have a totally miserable time (if you know what I mean).
