2024 Masters Pool Sponsored by Titleist and Vokey Wedges
Frankast23 replied to Golfspy_CG2's topic in Deals & Contests
Cut line +3 Low Am - Christo Lamprecht Thank you guys for doing this again. It’s always fun regardless of the result. From my fitting last year: 48.10 F grind, 54.12 D grind and 60.12 D grind. All with KBS Tour S 120 shafts. They’ve been great. -
What's Your Favorite Iron Shaft?
Frankast23 replied to GolfSpy_APH's topic in Golf Balls/Shafts/Grips
Based on fittings and being objective the best shaft for me is the KBS Tour S 120. Tried different shafts and different heads from different manufacturers during fittings two years ago, and it was constantly coming up as the best performer for my swing. The ball goes through the right window with the right amount of spin and comes down at a good angle. That’s why the T200s in my bag have this shaft. -
Thank you @MattF, and happy birthday @Preeway, @CFreddie, @Dr. Bill, and @BatcatCA.

On the course, I use a range finder and Arccos. I use Arccos almost exclusively to measure performance and keep track of my distances, so I don’t fall in love with that pure shot downwind and let it become my new carry distance. If I’m playing a course I don’t know or a blind shot, I would use it to check out the layout and confirm a landing spot. Most of the time I’m using my range finder to get distances to pins and hazards. I prefer using the range finder because I can see where the pin is and if there are any green features to consider in shot selection (false fronts, back stops, tiers, etc.).

I’m too lazy to go back and quote, but someone mentioned Norman’s Shark logo. It is similar and it wouldn’t surprise me if the brand had a similar faith. I believe in 20 years Sun Day Red will be at Costco for a fraction of the price, and it will be worn by my uncle who doesn’t play or cares about golf. That’s if the partnership lasts that long.

I’m in! This should be fun.

2023: How many brands have you played?
Frankast23 replied to GolfSpy_APH's topic in General Equipment Talk
Oh Boy. Due to gifts from the wife and relatives my bag has been trending towards one brand. Driver - Cobra, Taylormade and Titleist (next weekend) Woods - Cobra 3w and 5W (I don’t see my F8s going out of the bag any time soon) Utility - Cobra King Utility 3i (it rotates with the 5w) Irons - Titleist T200s (4i-PW) Wedges - Vokey SM9 48F, 54D and 60M Putter - Evnroll ER1v Ball - ProV1x and Srixon Z Star XV divide. Glove - FJ, Titleist and Nike Bag - Titleist Hybrid 14 Shoes - Nike TW ‘13 Retro and Nike Jordan 1s Low -
I just got fitted for wedges by Titleist 10 days ago. I’m getting three new Vokeys 48* F grind, 54* D grind and 60* D grind. The set up that I had before was very similar. It had the same lofts, but the 60 was an M grind that I liked to use around the green. Through some blind testing, we decided the D grind was the best option. Also, we changed the shafts from the stock DG S200 to KBS 120. I typically swing these 80% at most to cover anything under 120yds.

I have two candidates. Being forced to work the ball either direction off the tee on a dog leg. For some reason it goes dead straight most of the time. Hitting last in a scramble. There’s added pressure to being the last after everyone else. Especially, if no one else played a safe shot.

Fell in love with an Evnroll ER1v at the PGASS a couple of years ago. Tried 5 models total including a Scotty Newport 2 and a Ping Anser. I just had better results with the ER1v in the drills we set up at the corral, so I took it home. Putting improved over my old ping putter. I do believe Evnroll’s Sweet Face makes a difference in consistency.

What are you doing with the '21 Ball test data?
Frankast23 replied to TBS's topic in Golf Balls/Shafts/Grips
I enjoy looking ad data and analyzing my game. I enjoy the analysis of my game and the game in general quite a bit. The first thing I did after looking at the data was schedule a virtual golf fitting with Titleist. My typical gamer ball is the Kirkland signature and callaway hex tour. This is due to price because I’m a 20+ hcp, and I lose about a sleeve per round. However, I have played with TP5s and ProV1s before that I’ve gotten as gifts from family. I will say that I tend to play more conservative and score slightly better when using premium balls. I attribute that to loss aversion because that stops me from trying to carry 200yds+ of water with my 5w. The data showed how spinny the Kirkland balls are, and I had already noticed that when I took a sleeve of them to a PGA SS. The backspin with my driver was 3500+. The courses where I live are pretty windy, and high spinny drives are not a good shot. I will use this data to select a ball with a with a penetrating flight and lower spin. Anyone else looking forward something similar that has some suggestions?
