  1. Morning all, anyone lucky enough to be braving the weather in Augusta this week? Once again my buddy is going to Augusta and this time he has tickets for Saturday and Sunday. I am sure I will get a shirt, but I'd rather be his date. Suffice it to say I'll be hiding away in the back of my office pretending to work while watching the coverage.
  2. My shoes smell so bad that I'm not allowed to bring them in the house. But they are comfortable and and the tread is still pretty good considering I always walk the course and they are spikeless. I know at some point I am going to have to break down and get a new pair. Would love to maybe get a remote cart or maybe even just a push cart, but I doubt she would let me keep that in the house either.
  3. Like many others in this post, I usually don't retire golf balls since they take care of that on their own via drowning or a hike through the forest. In rare cases when I am able to keep the ball for multiple rounds the only time I might consider retiring it is after a significant scuff from a cart path, rock or successive bunker shots. I don't usually have to check it after successive bunker shots since hitting multiple shots in the same bunker is usually the ball's fault and that is reason enough to store it away for another day.
  4. The call for "Why I should be a tester" sent a thrill through me, kind of like the exhilarating feeling you get after finally finding your ball nestled amongst the poison ivy (hey, at least it wasn't lost, right?). Let me assure you, I possess qualifications so unique, they might just make your sponsors team do a double take, like witnessing a perfect backspin chip-in from the rough. First, a disclaimer: while my dedication to the sport is unwavering (think two to three pilgrimages to the course per week, rain or shine, sunscreen or not), my fashion sense might need a slight... recalibration. Picture the minimum acceptable attire that the starter will let me get away with. But hey, at least I'll stand out on the course, right? Speaking of standing out, I'm not your typical equipment tester. My reviews won't be filled with dry, technical jargon that puts you to sleep faster than a lecture on the history of sand traps. No, I'll deliver the unfiltered truth, from the "This driver is smoother than escaping a handshake with a sweaty stranger" highs to the "This putter makes me question my life choices" lows. Of course, some might find my unique perspective (think outside the box, or more accurately, outside the sand trap) a bit... unorthodox. Metaphors might take unexpected turns, and puns may fly faster than a rogue driver on a windy day. But hey, at least you'll never be bored! I may not be the picture-perfect candidate, but I guarantee you this: my application will leave a lasting impression, like a perfectly placed divot on a pristine green; or that hole-in-one that I still haven't found in 50+ years of trying. And who knows, you might even learn a thing or two about the true spirit of the game (and the therapeutic value of bringing a milk carton for friends like Artie who ditch tee times).
  5. This is so true. I've been wanting one for quite some time, but the "fine" keeps me in check.
  6. And what happens if the chipped shot hits the tee and knocks it a few inches away from where it was? It would be difficult to prove that the ball was replaced in the exact spot it was originally would it not? Would that be a potential penalty?
  7. Congrats to the testers. One of these days I hope I will get picked for something.
  8. Congrats to the testers. This was one I really wanted to win, but I will be following closely. Perhaps @MGS could work out a special deal for our forum members to get their own?
  9. For me, it's any first tee shot with someone I haven't played with before. Driving is one of the best parts of my game, but prior to getting to know the person I'm playing with it always adds a level of stress. I actually like the gallery aspect when playing, which seems at odds with playing partner stress. I guess the difference is that I don't have to spend the day with the same gallery member coming up with conversation as I hit my third shot out of the bunker?
  10. OMG, where to start? Been playing off and on for 40 years. Funny enough I hit the pin yesterday but ended up on the fringe behind the hole and missed the birdie putt. The closest I have been is two inches behind the cup on #15 at Doral's Blue Monster from around 165 yards out as it lipped around the cup to the back. The worst part is that my brother has two of them and he's not a great golfer. His most incredible hole-in-one is the one that he topped off the tee and it rolled down the cart path, over a bridge bounding back and forth from the concrete rails and then continued to roll all the way into the cup. There's just no justice.
  11. I'm a big fan of the Maxfli Tour X and in the 4dz box they run about $30 a dozen. Used to be even less, but greedflation has taken a toll. Still a good value.
  12. I think there are a few things that MGS has done to impact my game. First, it's given me a community of people to interact with that share similar passions. Second, the equipment reviews have given me better insights to value purchases that meet my game. For example, the golf ball that I currently play was selected as a result of the MGS comparison thread. And finally, I think that the platform has re-energized my love for the game. The news notices and articles have kept golf at the forefront of my inbox. I play more often now and that has led to lower scores and a desire to play more. Thank you MGS!
  13. Excellent insights from all the testers. Loved all the graphics from @Golf2Much and the interesting insights. Next time you're up from the Keys let's play a round.
  14. Not sure if this has been said, but I crack up watching the goodgood guys.
