  1. I think thats the way Im going to have to go. Especially with the prices of new clubs now a days and I should still be able to get a decent return on my old PXGs considering I got them for $200 on marketplace cause a guy just didnt like them after a few rounds.
  2. That definitely helps! I feel like if I tell my wife Im selling my old clubs it will make the conversation easier for the new clubs
  3. I like this idea! I have my first putter that I hope to eventually add to and build a collection over the years to display in my office.
  4. What do you do with your old clubs after you get new ones? Do you keep them? Put them in a "retired" bag in the office or den? Sell them and put that money towards your new set? Me personally I don't know what to do, my current set is my first set that really got me into golf and passionate about the sport again so I feel a weird attachment to them and don't want to let them go. But then again its money I could put towards a new set when I go get fitted. Am I alone or do you do the same? Curious to see everyone's thoughts.
  5. Thats my plan for this season! I have a course just a few mins from me so short commute will help too! I do have a net and mat so thats helped a ton so far!
  6. I assumed ready golf was just the standard outside of tournament play. Just helps things move along. Plus if you're at your ball and ready to go and the other players aren't to their ball back, why wait? Definitely should have let you hit onto the green though, they essentially slowed things down preventing you from getting on the green. Should have let you hit then while you were walking to the green they could have holed out to continue ready golf and keep pace of play up
  7. Still below 0 here, been so for the last week. Got some putting in with my PuttOut trainers. Hoping it warms up to get some swings in the garage here soon
  8. I think golf league may be one route to go. Ive got a small 9 hole course a few mins from my house. The early Saturday 18 holes were great but time consuming with travel in a larger city and takes time away from the family.
  9. Ive got a 9 hole course just down the road so that works perfect. And its a fairly quick play too so I think that will help! I appreciate the insight! I agree, wont be peak golf time but thats okay! A lot of great suggestions from everyone here.
  10. Sounds about like what I was thinking! Nice to hear that others have found success, gives me hope lol
  11. Morning Spies! I'm a new dad and was wondering how other fellow Spy Dads find time to practice or sneak a round in? My daughter is only 2 months old and its winter time here in IA so not much to do golf related anyway but asking more for future advice on how some of you manage/balance your golf game and family time? Obviously everyone's going to have a different experience but would like to hear how some of you do it! Would love to take her in the cart for a quick 9 holes sometime this summer and down the road once she is older and can walk.

Date 08/08/2023 Course Name Woodland Hills Golf Course Gross Score 84 Course Handicap 12 Gross Strokes over/under par 13 Net Score to Par 1 Net Score 72 Net Birdies or better 0 Longest Drive 220 Went lights out and played my best 9 holes on the front 9 shooting a 39. Slipped a little on the back 9 in my short game which kept me from breaking 80. Best part is I hit 80% FIR for the round!

First time playing here and couldnt find a GIR to save my life. Putting was phenomenal though, saved myself quite a bit there. FIR - 43% GIR - 6%

Ill take that any day! Felt much better off the tee and getting to the green. Trending upward! Exceeded my goal for GIR and FIR. Gotta keep the momentum going! Hoping to get to a new course next week. GIR - 56% FIR - 67% Putts per hole average - 2

Date 05/10/2023 Course Name Sugar Creek Golf Course Gross Score 78 Course Handicap 8 Gross Strokes over/under par 10 Net Score to Par 2 Net Score 70 Net Birdies or better 1 Longest Drive 258 A much better showing this week! Although it is one of the easier courses in town it gives a good challenge with your approach shots. Club selection and how you want to play the short game is quite important from 150 and in. FIR - 42% Par or better - 50% GIR - 39% GIR, again, not quite where Id like it but Im getting there! Same with FIR, much closer to my 50% goal for the season. Time to grind for that tour card!
  17. Congrats everyone! Looking forward to the results
  18. We have one here in Des Moines going public. They couldn't keep up member numbers. I wish a few more would relax or have times where it was open to the public. Would love to play once or twice a year at some around the area Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk
  19. Date 05/07/2023 Course Name Woodland Hills Golf Course Gross Score 86 Course Handicap 11 Gross Strokes over/under par 15 Net Score to Par 4 Net Score 75 Net Birdies or better 0 Longest Drive 249 New Ody Versa was lights out again, absolutely loving it. No 3 putts on the round! Hit a few long putts to save par/bogey. Otherwise left the long putts short for tap ins, Ill take that anyday! Not the best final score but overall was a pretty good day out with the guys! Hit 53% FIR and 22% GIR. Working on getting my GIR up this season. Thats my main goal. Approach shots felt good but short game/chip shots were far from ideal. A weak point in my game I cant seem to figure out. About 5-6 chunked chips that could have lessened the score but instead added to. Felt a lot better off the tee box then normal so thats a great feeling! Hoping to continue that. Play was slooooow ahead of us. All in all it was good to catch up with the guys on the tee box while we waited! Excited to post my first score here and looking forward to the upcoming weeks!
  20. Ive gotten tired with some of the drills Ive been doing and looking to mix up my practice. Whats some of your go to practice drills?
  21. I recently upgraded to an Odyssey White Hot Versa Double Wide. I had been playing an older Odyssey White Steel #2 Blade or a used TaylorMade Spider Tour mallet. Wasnt until recently I found myself missing putts and not feeling confident on the greens. Proceeded to research putters, balance/toe hang, putter strokes, hosels, shafts, etc (to which I have found a new found passion for clubs and specs). I found I am a straight back and straight through putt stroke which was polar opposite of the putters I had, wrong hosel wrong toe hang. Went to GG and tried a various number of putters, mallet and blade. I wasnt completely focused on getting an Ody but was leaning that direction. I tried the following: Odyssey Tri Hot Cleveland Huntington Beach Odyssey White Hot Versa Odyssey Eleven TaylorMade TP HydroBlast Del Monte 7 TaylorMade Spider GT Bettinardi Queen B I prefer a soft smooth feel off the face on my putters vs the audible feedback. Overall I that drew me to the Ody inserts in the Tri Hots and Versas. Some of the mallets felt rather large and blades too narrow. Enter the double wide, LOVED the look of it overtop and when lining up a putt. Has a small but just big enough alignment and the white stripe between the front and back of the putter is *chefs kiss* perfect. I think I sunk 14/15 from 4 ft and was sold. Feel, look, everything was great. Practiced with it the next week on my PuttOut mat and PuttOut trainer and was dialed in. I hadnt ever felt this confident with a putter in my hand. Took it out for a quick 9 a few days later and saw a considerable difference in my putting. First hole I was left with a long 15-20 ft birdie putt, missed it just short by about 6 inches for a tap in. Already was feeling good as normally Id either leave it considerably short or way left. Hole 2 I had a terrible shot off the tee and a terrible second shot. My third at least got me on the green but again was left with a 15 ft par putt, but this time I drained it. Throughout the rest of the round I really felt like putting is now where I can shave a few strokes off. I went on to tie my best ever 9 hole score of 39. I like the weight of the putter a lot, I left the 30g (2 15g) inserts in. Not sure if I want to go heavier or not but definitely dont want to take away weight. I like the change they introduced in the stroke lab multi material shaft, shortening the steel section to make it lighter and emphasizing the weight in the head. Overall very happy and very impressed so far with the Versa. Gives me great control on the greens. Best purchase for my golf game.
  22. Just bought my first brand new putter. Been using an older Odyssey White Steel #2 (bought in 2011 used) and was definitely time for an upgrade. Putted around at GG and absolutely LOVED the Odyssey White Hot Versa Double Wide. The feeling of the ball coming off the face is phenomenal. So much more confidence and control on the green now. Well worth it! I liked the Odyssey 5k Tri Hot a lot too but was a little out of my price range and liked the feel of the Versa more.
  23. Typically I focus more on my putting and short game prior to rounds. If I have time before I go Ill hit some balls in my garage to warm up. Id rather mishit my first or second shot on a hole where I can recover than risk a mishit around the green or a missed putt.
