  1. My final review is in the works! I am excited about sharing my experiences with this product with you all!
  2. I have been enjoying incorporating this product into my practice regiment. Where I have felt the most impact on improving my putting is the emphasis on the upward angle of attack. I realize that having a consistent feedback mechanism that makes me aware of attacking my puts with a consistent upward angle has given me much better feel and control for putting to various distances. This is an aspect of putting that I have completely neglected before this trial, meaning I have struggled to consistently manage my depth of putts from round to round mainly due to inconsistencies with my putting stroke. I feel much more comfortable at this point in the season with putting than ever before. The design that provides this feedback is my favorite feature of this product through my testing.
  3. I have updated my initial impressions of the TrueStroke Putting Track within my main post. TLDR: Check out these quick videos to see both instructions interface and quick setup!
  4. Good evening ya'll! Unboxing Quick Thoughts: Pros: Comes in a nice mesh, draw string bag that can fit within a golf bag Made of sturdy plastic Cons: Poor packaging for shipping Some assembly required (magnetic strips are loose without clear recommendation for placement on L brackets) Lacks robust information, instructions, or recommendations for use within the packaging (will cover in more detail in future posts) I thought I'd share my quick unboxing reactions with you all! Please note this post is intended to help you generate your own initial reactions before being exposed to a ton of information. I will provide more details within photos, videos, and postings as we go along that will hopefully provide strong insight and recommendations!
  5. Update - 2/17/2024 Greetings to all on this fine Sunday! As I enjoy the final round of The Players, I figured I'd provide a quick update! The TrueStroke Putting Track is enroute from the manufacture with an expected delivery date of Thursday, March 21st. I'm excited to see the initial presentation of this product and I am most eager to see how user friendly it will be perceived right out of the box! I'll share my initial impressions once it arrives!
  6. Can't wait to see your progress and hope this tool gets you to scratch!!
  7. Great opportunity to test a great concept! I love the simple approach that emphasizes the importance of the mental side of the game!
  8. Thank you! I wish I could claim it as my home course but just a bit too far away to say that. I will claim it as my favorite hole in the state though! Giants Ridge up in the Northern Range is definitely worth the trip!
  9. Hello Fellow MGS Members! I am excited for the opportunity to test the True Stroke Putting Trainer and share my experiences with you all. Let me first begin by introducing myself. My name is Dan and I reside in south central Minnesota. I am a registered nurse and currently work within an Emergency Department in Mankato, MN. I have been working in the medical field for over 12 years and had previously spent time on Active Duty in the Army as an Army Nurse. I am happily married and have two beautiful daughters. When I am not golfing, they keep me busy with activities such as dance, softball, and keeping me up to date on all things Taylor Swift. As far as my golf game, it is a work in progress. I have been golfing for most of my life, but the first 20-ish years were very casual. I would occasionally golf with friends for entertainment, but I would hardly put in any additional practice to improve my game. It wasn’t until the winter of 2022, when I decided to get fitted for clubs, that my desire to take the game more seriously and improve really sparked. I made an investment in my equipment, so it became time to invest in myself. I am a member of Minnesota’s Public Country Club, which gives me great access to 160+ courses throughout the state and region. I absolutely love playing new courses because it brings about new challenges while also experiencing the intricacies of each region. Where does my game currently stand? I am currently in my mid-thirties and my game continues to improve. I set out last summer with a goal to be a consistent bogey golfer by the end of the season and was able to accomplish that goal. I am not a long-ball hitter. I never have been, and I probably never will be. Because of this reality, it is crucial for my short game to be dialed in. That’s a major reason why I am so excited to test the True Stroke Putting Trainer. I have always been confident in my putting, but after getting the advice of “you have to learn how to score” by fellow MGS member @Preeway, I realize that I need to take better opportunity on the green to take my game to the next level. True Stroke Putting Trainer – The Plan Going into this test, I know very little about the True Stroke Putting Trainer. Currently, my primary putting tool is the Compact Putting Mirror as made by Puttout Golf. I enjoy the compactness of this tool and ability to easily bring it with me wherever I go. This tool is primarily beneficial for verifying a consistent setup but fails to provide any real feedback mechanism on my actual putting stroke. This is where I hope the True Stroke Putting Trainer will help my putting; through the application of real time feedback that promotes a more consistent stroke and keeps my putts on-line. I will plan to utilize the True Stroke Putting Trainer on both synthetic and real greens. At home, I utilize the Competitor Pro TW Putting Green (made by Big Moss Golf) and this will serve as my primary putting surface as I gather my initial impressions and practice with the True Stroke Putting Trainer. In addition, I will utilize outdoor greens at my local golf club to validate my initial impressions and perform any testing on the effects of the True Stroke Putting Trainer. The Methodology My hypothesis: The re-enforcement of positive movements within my putting stroke will establish improved muscle memory and ultimately improve my putting performance after implementing the True Stroke Putting Trainer within my practice regiment. To test this, I must first establish a baseline for putting performance to measure the impact of the True Stroke Putting Trainer. I will conduct my testing on a real grass surface at my local golf club and create measures of putting success both before and after implementation of the True Stroke Putting Trainer. I am expecting to see improvements in my putting performance after the implementation of the True Stroke Putting Trainer and will ultimately make recommendations on the True Stroke Putting Trainer based on the results of my testing. I am excited to take on this opportunity and share my experiences, I hope you enjoy the roll with me! First Impressions (7/10) The Unboxing: Unboxing Quick Thoughts: Pros: Comes in a nice mesh, draw string bag that can fit within a golf bag Made of sturdy plastic Cons: Poor packaging for shipping Some assembly required (magnetic strips are loose without clear recommendation for placement on L brackets) Lacks robust information, instructions, or recommendations for use within the packaging (will cover in more detail in future posts) The Instructions The Instructions Quick Thoughts: This product is rather intuitive, but overall lacks front facing exposure of instructions and the overall purpose of the device within the initial presentation of the product. Why this matters? If I were to gift this to my technologically challenged parents, they would have a hard time understanding the concepts of the TrueStroke Putting Track because the only way to gather information about the product is through the QR code interface. The product does have clear instructions for use within the QR code business card that comes with the product. I think this approach assumes that the purchaser has some level of understanding of the TrueStroke Putting Track prior to purchase of the product itself. I appreciate the ability to watch videos that are generated by the creator of the product, but I do wish there were more robust training regiments or recommendations included within the instructions. For example, I wish there were specific drills that incorporated the training device over a set period of time to address the three crucial components that the TrueStroke Putting Device is intended to correct. Finding ways to incorporate the theory of the device within the initial instructional page would benefit the overall adoption of the product. The Setup The Setup Quick Thoughts: I appreciate the flexibility of this product to be used with any putter. Within the above video, I utilize a Scotty Cameron Special Select Newport 2, Ping Prime Tyne 4, and Ping Doc 17 to capture the flexibility of this product to match any putter. I had challenges with the magnetic L brackets working with any of these three putters, therefore my training regiments will likely forego the use of them. I could utilize rubber bands to hold these brackets in place, but I lack motivation to find others means to get a product to work as intended if it means that I need to gerry-rig something outside of the product contents itself. Overall, my initial reaction is that the immediate feedback that is provided by the TrueStroke Putting Track is a key component of this product. The initial alignment can be cumbersome, but once in use, the ability to putt and feel when the putter head comes off line, whether because of take back or face rotation through the stroke is a huge benefit. Understanding that this product is designed to improve the overall putting stroke, I project there will be great benefit in conducting putting motions without the ball in order to increase repetition and build muscle memory. Other putting tools that I have used in the past are great for improving the address of the golf ball but fail to incorporate a strong influence on the putting stroke itself. After familiarizing myself with the TrueStroke Putting Track, I am hopefull that this product with improve my ability to keep my putts on my intended line.
  10. Love seeing a more complete field for this tourny. Should make for an interesting four days! I just hope Tiger can make the cut!
  11. Excited to see how this partnership unfolds. Great opportunity to synthesize data and information into knowledge on the golf course! Anything to make the game smarter helps!
  12. Thank you so much! I've been enjoying it so far! Lots great content!
  13. I am really making an effort to practice 6-8 foot putts daily while waiting for the ground to thaw. I utilize the Competitor Pro TW Putting Green that is made by Big Moss Golf. I chose this green because it offers multiple holes of various sizes. Having the ability to aim small means I learn to miss small and that mentality carries over better when putting towards a regulation hole. My confidence is growing and hoping to reduce my time on the green during this upcoming season because of it.
  14. "then you have to learn how to score" ^^ that right there is gold.. I really appreciate that sentiment.
  15. Everyone is always searching for the magic that makes their game better. What are things that have worked the best? Whether it was a piece of advice, a piece of equipment, or a drill that has become ritual, what is the one thing you wish you would have known or tried earlier in your golfing career? Any and all insight is appreciated!
  16. Argolf has definitely found a way to separate themselves from others with their unique designs. I'm eager to see the review for the wedges. If the feel matches the looks, I may have found my next set of wedges. I would definitely love to give them a try. Any club that can offer improved consistency, forgiveness, and playability is always exciting to add to the bag!
  17. The video doesn't do the story justice since it only catches his reaction. I wish I would have had my camera out in time, as I was in perfect position to see him hit and watch it drop. IMG_1555.MOV
  18. Minnesota golf is great, but weather can play a major factor in determining how long our season will be. So far this year, we've had an uncharacteristically warm winter with highs in the lower 40s during the day and lows below freezing at night. So what does every reasonable Minnesotan do if there's no snow in December? They make a tee time. We were playing just before Christmas on a warm 42 degree day. The sun was shining, while the ponds had just enough ice to create a frozen glaze. There was not yet enough layers of ice for pond hockey, but there was just enough for the idiots to feel confident enough to walk on... We were on hole 10 and and my buddy fleeced a long drive right into what would have normally been wet. Instead, the ball could be seen on an ice sheet peppered with lost golf balls that anyone with common sense had left there for fear of falling through. Well that day, I was playing with one of those idiots who decided to go out on the ice... He finagled his way to his ball and ultimately took his second shot on the par four. To everyone's surprise... my buddy holes out from about 80 yards on the ice for Eagle. We were stunned and it was easily the best golf shot I had ever seen in person. A summer 6 turns into a winter 2 on the scoresheet because my buddy had the cahoones to go after his ball! Afterwards, we were lamenting that none of us caught that moment on camera while heading to the next tee box. The guys on the next tee over overheard our gripes mixed in with our celebrations and yelled over, "We caught that on video! We were hoping you would fall through!" He survived hole 10 from the thin ice for what easily became his best moment as a golfer. He went on to beat us all that day in stroke play, but we all got the last laugh as he tempted fate again on hole 18 and ultimately wasn't so lucky; he fell through up to his knees and had to drive home with wet pants. All in all, it was a fun day. But I still wouldn't advise going out on thin ice to find your ball, even if that means you have the potential for an eagle....
  19. You should be able to make your money back pretty quick on that purchase!
  20. How long did you use it for and did the durability hold up over that full time? What made you decide to switch away from it?
  21. I'm stuck in simulator season so I'm eager to get it outdoors. I've gotten out once to hit it into the screen and so far I like it. Definitely a shaft that relies on consistent tempo.
  22. I just bought my first Autoflex driver shaft for my Titleist TSR2. A buddy wouldn't stop praising his Autoflex during one of our last rounds so I decided I had to try one for myself. Does anyone else have experience with these shafts?
  23. Hello, My name is Dan, I'm from Mankato, MN and am excited to get involved with this forum. I have been playing golf since I was a little kid (approximately 25 years). I have always been a casual golfer but most recently have been taking the game more seriously. I have no established handicap but am looking forward to establishing one during this 2024 season. There's lots to love about the game of golf, but most importantly I appreciate that it is a game you can play against others, but also yourself. We've all lived through the trials and tribulations of improving our own scores and that is ultimately what always brings me back for more. I come to MyGolfSpy in an attempt to grow my knowledge of the game while finding opportunities to network with other players. This is a completely new community for me. I am proud to be from Minnesota and love the diversity in courses that our state has to offer. I primarily golf at North Links in Mankato, MN but also recently became a member of Minnesota's Public Country Club which has created exposure to many additional courses throughout the state. If you are from Minnesota, I highly recommend enrolling! Unfortunately we have finally reached the offseason for our outdoor season after a very mild start to our winter. Minnesota winters are definitely the worst thing about golf in our region. If I am not golfing, I'm spending as much time as I can with my family and I also work as an Emergency Room RN. My username was selected to pay homage to my home state while also representing fellow southpaws (I hope you enjoy the logo )! Feel free to follow me on instagram, where I plan to build and focus on my growing love for golf.
