L.A.B. DF3 Putters - 2024 Forum Review
bbanksp1 replied to GolfSpy_APH's topic in Forum Testing Reviews
Have been using DF2.1 for 2 years. Own DF3 and Mezz Max also but they can’t push the DF2.1 out of the bag. After using both I don’t really understand why anyone would use the DF3 instead. My misses tend to be pulls which I think has to do with the shaft lean and press grip but I haven’t totally solved that puzzle yet. -
This so right.

2024 New Drivers - What Is Your Favorite?
bbanksp1 replied to Wheelieb's topic in Breaking News and Debate
I've brought several of them home, played them, messed around extensively on our Trackman. so ive spent alot of time with the following drivers: Ping G430 Max 10k- straightest club I've ever hit, maybe sacrificed a little speed. Dailed it down 1 degree to 9.5 and ball speed and spin numbers a little better. Still experimenting TM QI10- great speed, sets up a litte open at neutral setting to my eye- ended up not being able to overcome the right miss TM QI10 Max- good speed, straight. after alot of testing I put the TSR 3 back in the bag. Speed is as good/ better than any of the above for me. adjustability so good with the head weight and titleist sleeve. Hard to beat. one middle aged golfers experience. -
played US AM Tour Tournament at Kiawah this weekend. Tough conditions yesterday at The Ocean Course. But so much fun

When to move on from game improvement irons ?
bbanksp1 replied to Paulb95's topic in General Equipment Talk
I used it at Sea Island this weekend in a tournament. There were 25 to 30 mile an hour winds. Typically it’ll carry about 175 or 180 yards so into a 25-30mph wind I hit it on 150 yard par Three. Landed 20 yards short of the pin. Literally went straight up in the air. Haha -

Definitely goes high and can certainly go left. But on the other hand it almost never goes right. -

More opinion: most shouldn’t have more than a 5-6 iron in the bag. For me I start at 7 iron. I sometimes put 6 iron in the bag in high wind. for context I’m a 4 index with 95 ish driver swing speed on the course. Not max speed. iron replacements for me: 3/4 iron-7wood. The positive move that started it all. can actually hit a green and have the ball stop 5 iron- 9 wood Hits the ball HIGH. In high winds can be tricky but 90 % of the time this is another magic club. I also have a hybrid I can put in the bag that flights it down more 6iron- 5 hybrid with loft adjusted toward 6 iron. Adds a lot of versatility to the bag then 7-P plus 3 more wedges -
When to move on from game improvement irons ?

What’s the point of moving on. I finally woke up and moved INTO game improvement irons. One of the best decisions ever. No recreational golfer can consistently or needs to shape the ball. We need to be able to hit the ball where we are looking. It’s about the quality of the miss and getting the ball to land and stop on the green. I’m not talking about shovels or extreme GI irons. Personally I don’t like the strong lofted hollow body irons. Not enough spin. I’m talking strong lofted cavity backs. I moved into Titleist T300s and I’ve never been happier. IMO golfers who need a certain look aren’t really trying to shoot the lowest scores. At my best I was playing Mizuno MP-32. Beautiful blades. Nice mid trajectory short iron shots but with slightly above average swing speed in my early 40s the mid and long irons were undependable in my hands. Do the T300s feel like Mizuno blades? Heck no. Do they make a god awful noise on mishits? Oh yes. But they go long straight and high. I’d rather see that shot than fancier clubs sitting in my bag all day. as I’ve said on this forum—those Cleveland. Zipcore XL irons are looking so sweet btw. I’ll be having those for sure. -
anyone else see the Cleveland Zipcore XL irons and like them? They look like a prettier upgraded version of the Titleist T300s-which i love and are in the bag. Had a chance to see them and hit them this afternoon. Look soooo goood. hit soooo goood. wont be long til they're in the bag. just sayin......

what is the appropriate length of a putt to give?
bbanksp1 replied to ryan.mzzz's topic in General Q&A
this is exactly right. Our group which plays a simultaneous team stableford, individual nassau, skins, trash, plus 2 other types of bets(all kept track of by a decades old computer program for money 3 times a week)- trued up quarterly---found the same thing out. if we have 4 foursomes out, who knows what gimme range is for each group. so no gimmes. And so by extension i play ball in hole to keep this part of my game in shape.
