  1. My last data finally input. Will be using this in my analysis. I’m very anal about my gapping in my irons (especially as I’m getting older and my swing is lowing down). It has helped tremendously when I was fitted for my new irons last fall. I’m more confident in going up or down a club
  2. Great job! Based on all the questions and feedback I would say we are all excited!
  3. I’m on the soapbox right beside you! I went through a complete fitting for my new Ping G430 irons and gained 8-10 yards with each iron and dispersion was tightens right up. I needed the lighter shaft. I find it unusual that a very small percentage of players talk about the torque in a shaft. I found the difference in this number was the most important for me to get the club square!
  4. I use the Shot Scope app with the tabs. I find that I have to make sure that I edit the rounds before I save them because there are some mistakes but it has also forced me to follow my game better and review my club selection etc while im playing. The info and data I get from the app is very extensive and has helped me improve my game.
  5. A short update as I wait for my wedges…… a friend of mine who works for a large golf retailer in Canada gave me a call on the weekend and told me he had a small shipment of clubs from TaylorMade and I should drop in to check them out! When I got there he handed me a couple of the new Hi Toe 4 wedges that I will be testing. So as it happened I grabbed them with the back facing me, and to be honest they looked just like the Hi Toe 3 with some minor shape differences on the back.( I own a Hi Toe 3 60 deg already) I flipped it over and found the Wow Factor in the full face! Pictures to follow but I can’t wait to hit these!
  6. Just purchased a new rangefinder. I’ve had a Nikon Coolshot for the last 7 years and was happy with it. It started to act up by giving me 3 or 4 readings every time I used it and was a big range of 150 to 200 yard difference. Frustrating when you know you are 100 to 120 yards and you get 250 - 300 on the screen. A friend suggested that I change the battery but didn’t make a difference. I started to look at reviews, specs, requirements like slope and cost to determine what I wanted. I went into my local golf shop to look at a few different rangefinders and settled on the Shot Scope Pro ZR. I’m a Shot Scope user for my game tracking so it also made sense. It has all the features that I wanted, including the cart magnet, slope etc and the price was in my budget! I’ve used it twice now and I’m really happy with my choice! If your in the market for a rangefinder make sure you look at this model!
  7. My game is rounding into shape for my favourite time of year to play here in Canada, the fall. On another feed I mentioned that I got fitted for a new putter and the hole looks like it’s 10 inches round right now. I’ve now played 45 holes with the new weapon and I’ve made 15 birdies and 1 eagle! My new best friend is my Ping Tyne 4! Lets hope it continues for our Senior Club Championship that starts today!
  8. Congratulations to the testers. I’m definitely looking forward to their results and opinions!
  9. TaylorMade Hi-Toe 4, Full face wedges testing Introduction: My name is Rick (Flanpro) and I'm from the Great White North. I live in Muskoka to be exact, which is a beautiful part of our country approximately 2 hours north of Toronto. Formally called cottage country by the tourists but it is home to my wife and I along with our 3 retired Greyhounds. My golf background started when I was in my late 20's when I decided to look into the golf business as a fun way to make a living. I was able to get my CPGA card within a year and I was on my new journey. My focus was more on the business side even though I could manage to play well enough. Through the next 16years I was involved a General Manager / Head Pro at several facilities in Southern Ontario but my most enjoyable experience came in 2009 when I was asked to be Project Manager for a new course build called Sally Creek. If there was one thing I could do for the rest of my life it would be designing and building golf courses! Not long after finishing that project it was becoming more and more difficult to get approvals for golf courses and I decided to take a different direction. I even applied and received re-instatement of my amateur status. Right now at 65 I'm a 10.3 Handicap Index and looking to improve GOALS FOR TESTING: As you can see I'm a "Wedge Junkie". I have many friends who are "Driver Junkies" "Golf Shoe Junkies" and "Iron Junkies" and many of the Spies will fall into these categories but I am a certified Wedge Guy. This picture is a sample of the collection that I have available to me, along with at least 10 more in my shed. Taylormade, Titleist, Cleveland, Cobra, Smithworks, Wilson and many more brands hold a place. The best part of my game is from 50 yards to the green and my wedges are a big part of my bag - and the reason I am really excited about testing these new wedges. I'm currently gaming Taylormade TG3 Raw face wedges (54 and 58 degrees), along with a Cleveland Special 588 49 degree and a Ping G430 45 degree. My goals are very simple when I look at this testing and analysis - will these new wedges be an improvement on my existing gamers and will they be the next step for me to improve in the scoring areas of the golf course? TESTING Naturally I will be gathering as much data as possible through launch monitors, my Shot Scope application and the range but I still believe the true test is on the course in every possible tight lie, uphill or downhill slope, bunker, rough, and greenside location that I can find! Do they spin? Do they spin enough or too much? Is the ball flight high, low or in between? GOALS My plan is to make as many videos and screen shots as possible to give everyone a clear idea of the performance of these new wedges along with my direct comparison to the Taylormade TG3 that I'm using now. I'm expecting them to be great. FINAL THOUGHT....... I've discovered over all of he rounds of golf I've played (usually 60-70 per year) that there are two clubs in every golfer's bag that are a personal choice - The Putter and wedges. It's important to have the confidence that these clubs will perform to increase your enjoyment and lower your scores! I'm looking forward to providing regular updates and information as we go through the process! Lets go tee em' up!
  10. Bought a new Ping Tyne 4 (2023) putter last week. Did some research on my putter stroke arc with my local fitter and looks like I needed a putter with more toe hang because of the “strong arc” I have - who knew? Results are in. Either my course made the holes bigger or it was a significant improvement for my game…… NINE birdies in 27 holes!
  11. I’m looking forward to the results of this one! Congrats to the lucky testers!
  12. Just bought three new Ping G430 hybrids - 17, 19 and 22 degrees. The reviews for these was too much to ignore (MGS rated top hybrid ever) so I got fitted. We even adjusted the 17 up a degree to 16 and I was able to replace my 3 wood in the bag with another wedge to fill a gap in the low end. Love these hybrids. Easy to hit, great launch and very forgiving.
  13. Usually a dozen. I’m pretty good at purging out the found and damaged balls every one or two rounds. It used to be half a dozen when I carried and that is when I got into the habit of cleaning out the balls not in use or ready for the shag bag
  14. My simple answer to this….. depends on the shirt. Long, short, type of fabric etc.
