  1. Yeah, that 54 has some serious bite!! The trackman app is pretty worthless IMOH. Does not supply much at all. Hate the website forces the app usage to see the practice data.
  2. I feel either that or the material used for the injection molding. Could it be something with the metallurgy and how it interacts with the ball? It is just wild.
  3. That is sick. Like a saw blade slicing at the green. Would have loved to see that one. Great stuff bud! One of my buddies just refers to the Opus as the "pin seeker" . I'm starting to get more questions around the wedges than I do my LAB broomstick now. Crazy how many folks out here have yet to hear about the Opus wedges. Great opportunity to send them the link to these reviews and get them acclimated to MGS I say!
  4. Hell yeah! Everything you said resonates so much with how I have been with the wedges. I am guessing you want to just check it up at the pin now instead of rolling it there. I find myself doing that more often, going after the pin now as opposed to the bump and run or long chip. I would have never done this before with my current gamers, but these Opus wedges are just so different. Any reason you chose the 58º more often than the 54º?
  5. PGA SuperStore Testing - Part Deux!! I had a chance to...swing...by the PGASS in Phoenix earlier this week and got a chance to test out a few more wedges and compare to the Opus Platinum. Of the wedges I found on the rack to test out were the Jaws MD5 and the regular Opus offerings!! I also grabbed a Vokey SM10 as the last go round left a bad taste in my mouth and wanted to give the vokey another chance. Vokey was the only club I could not find in a 50ish loft offering to try out, so I went with the 48º. The other Callaway offerings were pretty close to the 53º I am currently testing. The bays at the Chandler location were awesome! They use trackman technology and offer a VERY nice experience. The store had to have been recently renovated as I do not remember the store looking so dang fancy the last time I went in there. Ok! Enough chit-chat! I utilized a trio of fresh ProV1 golf balls and stuck to a 40-yard swing, all clubs with stock steel shafts, 5 swings each: *edit* I accidentally added 29.1 to the Total Yards delta for Opus 54º. The correct delta is 2.8 What really stuck out to me is how consistent I was this time around with all clubs. As I mentioned earlier, the Opus offering felt heavier in my hand, which could have led to my slower swing. That Opus not only felt heavier, but the ball felt clickier off the face too. Nothing offensive, just the standard feel off the face I am use to with other wedges. I struggled with the Vokey offering last time but was much more successful. The club felt great, easier to swing this time, still feels a bit big at address, but did offer quite the amount of spin for a club lofted at 48º! Very pleased to see spin that high for this loft. Low flight, high spin, not too shabby given the strike heatmap I produced with this wedge. Jaws felt good. Jaws has beef!! Ball looked hot off the face and the data proved this feeling. For having the same swing speed as the other clubs, that ball had some ZIP. Spin was respectable, height not too shabby given the strike points, ball felt solid off the face. No complaints! The good ol'Opus Platinum continues to impress. Compared to the Vokey's 48º loft, this 53º wedge still out distanced the Vokey in carry and total at virtually the same swing speed. Again, this proves the hunch @GolfSpy_SHARK has about the Opus Platinum having more distance with the same swing vs most other clubs. This is still a shock for me to continuously see when comparing data in a controlled environment. My strike heatmap is much better, though this may be the familiarity with the club at this point. Overall, I did enjoy every club I got to try. The Opus Platinum still just feels so great at contact, is very consistent across the face, and just feels so good in the hand. Had I more time with the regular Opus offering, I am certain I could have made equal strides. Overall very happy with the Opus offering and would still continue with this model over anything else I have tried out, both Platinum and regular.
  6. Right on. Just hard to find much online, especially from YouTube since it seems like all those who test them go with the largest of the jumbomax grips and give a negative review because it is so damn large
  7. The online fitting tool is awesome and love these grips so far. Have tested the STR8 tech in ultralite and tour, as well as the tapered ultralights. I am leaning more toward the str8 tech, but hesitate on which one to get as I am trying to break away from an early release on my swing. I get a bit wristy and am borderline from flipping the ball. Can't find much on counterbalanced grips and if that would make the wrist flip worse? What is y'alls take?
  8. I use to go through the same thing with a mat and 1" padding underneath the already pre-installed padding on the mat. I moved on to the Fiberbuilt deck and I am loving it. It is high off the ground, but if you can level it with your hitting area, it's a dream. Very tall and wiry surface to avoid digging in too much and shocking the arms. Also provides good feedback when you do hit it fat as the club will dig in pretty deep and not hit the ball as crisp as you would bouncing off the standard mats. That and bounce from wedges is pretty much nonexistent as that surface is not solid enough for the bounce to really help. Still, give er a look! Pretty solid through hundreds of swings on it already and no issues.
  9. Y'all can already put my name in ink to be a part of this league! I have an R10 and ability to play with GSPro and the E6 courses it came with via PC or Android. If I need to subscribe to Garmin Golf for their courses, I can do that. Even have the ability to putt with R10 and webcam. Game for anything!!! Let's do this!!
  10. Sweet and sweet! Appreciate the info! Still deciding if I will be able to make the Stableford, but will DEFINITELY keep an eye on the Sim league!
  11. Same here in Arizona, but then you have to add in all the "snow birds" that show up. Prices get ridiculous and people become nasty out here . I'm going to start looking out there, damn the torpedoes!!!
  12. I need to move back to Texas. I miss the motherland
  13. Gouda morning, Spies! Back in the office from a fun few days at the ol' corp-o-rat offices for some meetings. We had a pretty sweet team event at Pop Stroke Scottsdale! First time checking it out and it did not disappoint. That was a ton of fun and highly reccomend for those who can get to one. Take the fam! Super kid friendly as they have two sets of 18 to play. Tiger Red is the challenging 18 while the Tiger Black is not so tough but still a challenge. Be good and swing well folks!!
  14. Didn't see an answer to this one. What do the judges say?
  15. Great stuff! Good to know those e12's do well on approach. Have not used those balls in quite some time. One of my fav non tour balls has always been the Laddie . I should get a pack and see how those work with these wedges.
