  1. Arccos is also quite different in presentation between the app and the desktop version
  2. Shotscope has partnered with a UK group (Calculus) that creates training plans based on Shotscope data so that’s a profit based approach to the data-leads-to-improvement-plan issue. I found some PDF “plans” on the shotscope site that demonstrated how to build your own plan on the data - not terribly helpful for me - personally I’d pay for an analysis layer that helps me decipher the data by making suggestions etc. I know where I’m not very effective - so that’s obvious to fix, but I don’t know how much it impacts my scoring ability - that’s where SG would shine. Similarly I have a sense where I’m pretty good and likewise I don’t know how much of a benefit this is for me in scoring. And for the junk in between, who knows
  3. The macgyver was a small hole drilled in the link belt clip that allowed me to pass a small “so I won’t lose the link once and for all time” mod. Yes, the macgyver thing shouldn’t be necessary but it seems like they didn’t consider that a golfer may be wearing a jacket and the link (belt Clipped to your belt) needs to see the sky - that’s the oversight for me. But to be fair, it beats “phone in front pocket” by miles - as long as you live in warm climates, don’t ever wear anything over a golf shirt .... yes, I have seen a few mark crossfield YouTube videos from the UK - shotscope is based in Scotland if memory serves - and he said they’ve told him that SG is in the way. I was wondering if SG has a licence fee to use which exposes Arccos, shotscope etc on cost - that could explain the relatively fast move by Arccos to move to a subscription model - shotscope has no such model, yet, but that’s my hypothesis
  4. I have v2 v3 and Arccos - v3 certainly changes the game on v2 - no downsides that I have experienced at all ive been stuck between Arccos and shotscope as platforms. Shot acquisition is noticeably better for me on shotscope vs Arccos. With Arccos link and no phone in front pocket I thought Arccos might finally win BUT the link needs to have sight of sky so when weather gets cooler I needed to find a way to keep the link outside - finally macgyvered a small cable to the link with a clip since the link kept falling off my jacket pocket - it’s stable when you are in sleeves and it’s on your belt but having walked the course backwards for a few times to find the lost link was a pain ... which is too bad since Arccos has the best data presentation for me - it clearly shows where I need to improve and where I’m doing ok now by using stories gained - for shotscope you need to dig into the data to get the same insight - possible and nit so difficult but the combo of shotscope shot acquisition and the data model of Arccos would be kinda perfect for me. also Arccos sensors WILL die - more specifically the battery will die - I ripped a few apart and was able to replace battery and with some larger diameter shrink wrap was able to make the functional and actually less green and get them back up and running. Shotscope has no such battery issues with the sensors as far as I know I have over 170 rounds on Arccos and about 50 on shotscope so it’s a pretty good sample I think hope this helps
  5. Mine has worked well in an indoor golf dome but haven’t used it in a smaller net situation - just checking but you used the “net” setting, right? apparently that’s something that has been recently released
  6. This is what Pia Nilsson has been advocating for years - Think Box / Play Box. Basically when it’s time to think and plan your shot, do so. But when it’s time to play - just trust the work you’ve done. so much easier said than done especially with so much history fighting for attention but the logic is sound and my coach has always used this as our foundation together - and when I let that happen I’m able to perform at levels that show me my best self, golf wise
  7. Padraig has been so helpful in these videos - thanks for sharing
  8. I have found more success in using "Network" mode where the iPad and Skytrak unit are both connected to the same WiFi network - using it in "Direct" mode (device connected directly to WiFi SSID of Skytrak device) was very unreliable for me. Also I recall that 10.XXX.XXX.XXX IP address ranges are problematic as well so if your WiFi router uses this range it could be an issue as well.
  9. Sadly yes, shanked a wedge into the butt area of a friend - luckily still a friend - but it was a hard swing that shank bladed - ouch. Ironically the incident stopped my ball from going clearly into a hazard - but not a recommended approach.....-
  10. Yesterday I set mine up in the back yard - different angle to the sun and the performance was awful - so yes, in my experience direct sunlight is not good - I'm guessing the sunlight adversely impacts the video collection performance - lots of no-reads and some crazy mis-reads - I hit one PW 342 yards - go figure Generally the Skytrak has been awesome PROVIDED it has a stable Wifi Connection - it wasn't terribly reliable for me at use in the Golf Dome - had to use my iPhone hotspot feature - maybe if the dome gave out WiFi access it would be better but my experience on public Wifi leaves much to be desired, so who knows.
  11. I have a 45 PW and a 47 GW for that very reason - as lofts get jacked the need to get fit for the remaining wedges becomes more and more important - especially at higher handicap levels - not sure many 15-20 HDCP players have the finesse to fill a 30 yard wedge gap that commonly exists as you've said
  12. I blew on the Tour Velvet MicroSuede grips last week and they needed far less pressure than others - quite thin and stretchy almost like PURE but felt like I could have ballooned them very easily .....
  13. I also use a rag with some solvent on it to clean the shaft of tape debris etc and that helps the grips that like to grab or stick - its just enough
  14. I've found adding a layer of build up tape (one sided) helps some groups stay in place better when they've been blown on. For example, Golf Pride Plus4 Midsize grips can be a wee bit resistant to staying in place but build up tape has easily resolved that
  15. Hi All, I had been using Arccos 360 for about two years - it was a cool experience but not without issues - some were my fault, some were not First, Arccos golf support was always incredible - in fact received emails on days when the data that got posted was so strange they wondered if I was having difficulties. I was in fact having difficulties, which is an issue in itself, but the immediate follow up was impressive. My main issues with Arccos were four things: First, on my course, holes 1 and 10 are reasonably close together and sometimes Arccos would get confused where I was - and if I didn't check phone to see which hole it was selecting then problems could arise. This caused me to become a more distracted golfer since I now needed to more actively monitor what was happening to save potentially + large editing pain later. Second, the lack of pin seeking was an issue since it was always a required edit fix. They added a feature where you could mark a flag, but that didn't work out well for me. Thirdly, the Putter sensor could not be installed on the superstore grips with the counterweight capability - although that has now been rectified with a new sensor strategy (for purchase) that becomes a part of that counterweight configuration - kinda cool actually. Lastly, having to have a phone in my pocket wasn't an issue for me, but as in 2 above, it contributed to me being a more distracted golfer. They have announced for over a year that a new belt clip thing (like Game Golf only better) would be arriving, but that has continuously been pushed out due to difficulties of some sort. The data was great and was helpful in getting a more holistic view of my golf game in a relatively unbiased manner. This is based on about 120 rounds of recorded golf. But one day found a used Shot Scope V2 set cheap - and decided to try. At first glance, if I had to compare, Shot Scope is like Microsoft windows and Arccos Golf is like Mac The watch is totally geeky and really quite ugly, but that tags are smaller and don't act like a feature in themselves - no green colours In use I found Shop Scope to be nearly flawless PROVIDED I understood how it worked. For example, for penalties etc, its very helpful to understand how to manage them as you play - retrospective rising is possible but I just found it to be messier. Related, Shot Scope, unless I am wrong which is highly possible, interprets approach shots in a slightly different way. Example - on a par five it seemed to think my second shots were approach shots instead of layups - they call layups etc "positional" shots - which you have to mark to get the data correct. Same is true for punch outs and other "other" shots. I found this strange given that it seems like a relatively easy rule to implement. The pin collect feature, which took me some repetitions to add to my putting routine , was pretty good and simplified post round editing by a lot. This summary is based only five rounds of golf. Given the low sample size for my Shot Scope experience, it seems like Shot Scope is easier to use since for me, it was functional within five rounds - the same wasn't true for Arccos. Both solutions presented common data and the also have different approaches - not sure which I like better yet but a combination of the two would be close to ideal I think. If you have two sets of clubs, Shot Scope makes that easier to manage (kinda). The Arccos solution to the problem is to have two user Accounts - that is also an option in Shot Scope - but this doesn't help total stats view for all rounds but does help segregate data between sets of clubs. Shot scope allows a group of clubs to be added to your bag before play. So you can choose which clubs you re playing and the data remains with the clubs - which was nice since you get best of both worlds. But this also means you can easily have two drivers, two putters etc and be able to compare stats across clubs in the context of a single bag - a nice implementation I think. Im not sure yet, but I have seen the Shot Scope tags more likely to get dislodged in more soft, rubbery grips than the Arccos tags. So I guess It seems like Shot Scope is my preferred option - in any event the data from either is helpful in many ways and I dont think i'd like to play without any such system anymore - it has really helped me understand the patterns in my game. Play well folks
