  1. I just got back from a trip to Missouri to see the in-laws and play a couple rounds of golf with friends from grad school. On Thursday, we played Eagle Knoll a bit south of Columbia. I had only played it a couple times "back in the day" but had a great time. The course was in great shape and has a TON of elevation changes, making club choice tricky at times. I shot a 41/45 with a double on the front and a double and a quad (on a par 5) on the back. I will take that score all day long with +8 coming on 3 holes. Friday, we were able to get on the Country Club of Missouri in Columbia. Absolutely beautiful course, in my opinion. There are a couple strange holes on the back that I would play differently having played them once, but it was hard to figure out from the tee, even with the benefit of a satellite view. The rough was very penal, so that added some strokes for me. Around the green I was terrible, even though I have had a very good short game this season. I blame the rough - it was thick and grabbed the clubs badly when needing to be delicate, so I had to try to convince myself to hit the ball harder than my instinct told me. I had a couple double-chips just to get it out of the rough and onto the green. Shot a 40 on the front (thanks mostly to better-than-normal iron play) with 2 birdies and a 47 on the back. Here is the 17th hole.... After hitting a "safe" shot, just for kicks I tried to go for it. I hit the ball pretty solid and it was on a good line to reach the closest point, but I never found it. If it missed, it could not have missed by much. I wish I could have seen where it landed, but the small tree and the island obscured our view as it was coming down right on that line.
  2. Well, the streak of stellar (or at least very good) short game and putting ended today. Still didn't play bad, thanks to driver and irons being better than normal. Ended up with a +6, 41 in some steady rain that lasted about 5 holes. I missed a 4-footer for bogey and a 3-footer for birdie that had been nearly automatic. I think the rain kind of freaked me out - I had no confidence in speed (with chips too) and did not commit to the shots. Shooting 1 over my handicap on a day like today and knowing I left meat on the bone is at least encouraging.
  3. Works for me, just let me know if I'm pulled off the bench.
  4. It was a tale of two 9's.... Started really rough - 2 triples and a double in the first 4 holes. My inner dialog was considering quitting at the turn if that garbage kept up. Fortunately it did not. The first few holes are really tight and require accuracy, which I did not have to start the day. Turned things around on the back and even had a couple birdies. Ended up shooting 48/38.
  5. I haven't played a ton of golf since we wrapped up the reviews, but this week in league was the 2nd 9-hole round with my Cleveland 54* and Sub70 58*. I have zero complaints at this point....
  6. Well done, everyone! Maybe if you had some better wedges, like Clevelands or Sub70's.... In all seriousness, something about Vokeys don't work for me and I have no clue what it is.
  7. Not really concerned about it - no one in our league takes much of anything too seriously. We're just out having fun.
  8. Agreed. My opponent last night tried to give me a 4 footer - I think he was starting to get a little exasperated that I kept knocking chips close. I refused to take it, but made it anyway.
  9. Don't get me wrong, it's really fun. I equate boring to stress-free.
  10. I'll start by saying I LOVE boring golf... I played mostly boring golf. 6 pars, 3 bogies for a 39. More importantly, I had a bogey on 15, which has been my nemesis this year (averaging 6.2 this season). I really feel like it was a par - I cold topped my drive just past the front tees and scrambled from there. The only other excitement was 17 (par 3) - pulled my tee shot into some trees, had to keep second low, bash it into a bank and hope for a lucky bounce. Worked out perfectly leaving a 3-footer for par, which I made.
  11. Agreed. Having putts off by a few feet/yards doesn't seem to have a huge effect on strokes gained and I would imagine it would all average out over time.
  12. That would be my guess. I', pretty sure Samsung switched from their own home-brewed OS to Google's Wear OS with the release of the 4, so it could be a watch issue.
  13. ShotScope at least used to have a way to mark a shot as "positional", but I thought Arccos tried to take care of it automatically in the smart distance. Obviously double-checking through the method outlined above doesn't hurt.
  14. Welcome! Occasionally I have seen issue that are clearly a mapping issue. If you look closely when you are in the green view, you can see the satellite view behind the illustrated green. Sometimes they don't line up very well you have to decide whether you want to putting more accurate or the distance from prior shot to be more accurate and edit accordingly as best you can.
  15. Can you provide more details? I have a Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and have had zero problems on my second season using the watch with Arccos.
  16. Last night in league I played my first round with my "mixed" set of wedges (Cleveland 54*, Sub70 58*). I chipped in for birdie on the 9th with the Sub70. I would take these results all day, any day....
  17. BTW, forgot to mention I shot a net 32 and lost.... To a net 30.
  18. What a great night in league, aside from the downpour that lasted about a hole and a half. Driver was good except for one hole that I flared into a penalty area. Other than that my game was very solid. Birdies on two par 3's (long putt and a chip-in), 3 pars, 4 bogies for a +2 37. Short game was again very good and I made some solid putts to save par (or bogey) when I needed them. By the way, Sub70 TAIII wedges reviews are being posted. Go check them out if you are so inclined.
  19. My final review has been posted and my signature has been updated to reflect my current thinking on my bag makeup. This has been a really fun test - thank you to MyGolfSpy and Sub70 for the opportunity!
  20. Well done! I had meant to not read any other reviews until I had mine posted, but failed.
  21. Yesterday I went to @MattF's house as he has a new Skytrak launch monitor. Played around a bit then did the wedge matrix with all 4 clubs. I haven't really dug into the report just yet, but there was nothing super glaring that jumped out at me good or bad. I have a lot of thoughts about what that all means, but you'll have to wait for the final review that will be posted in a couple days. I did learn that my perception of a 3/4 swing sucks - it's almost a full swing. I did have a huge brain fart and totally forgot to squirt some water on the faces and see what happens to spin. Fortunately, HQ will have likely have that covered when wedge testing results come out.
