  1. Rickp, you're up at the Villages? I hear the championship course there is a lot of fun. I know you all have quite a few courses there, which is your favorite? Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  2. Met to let you all know how it went yesterday since I am back to playing on my old MP33 blades. (Those that don't know, my AP2 PW and 7 iron were broken and I am in the process of being fitted for a new set) Let me start off by saying nothing feels better than a pure struck shot from a blade iron. Now let my aslo say that there is nothing worse in golf than a poor struck shot from a blade iron. I shot an 83 yesterday missing all but 1 par 3. I hit two bad shots with my irons on the second hole and I felt my confidence just walk off the course. I shot a 45 on the front side. At the turn my buddy, who I grew up playing golf with, starts trying to calm me down. Well the other group starts to brag about being up 4 bets (5 being max). My buddy hollars back we will double the bets. Our opponents are licking their lips running towards 10 tee. I looked at him like he was crazy and he just smiled and said "I've seen you shoot even par on those irons multiple times, it's not them, it's your head. Now let's go make some f****** money." We won 7 holes and halved the other 2 on the back side. Which means we won 3 holes up. I shot a 38 on the backside. There were a few miss hits but I calmed down and made putts. We brother in lawed perfect on the back nine. It was like something you would see in a movie. Of course I got made fun of for sandbagging but it was all in good fun. It was great pulling out the old blades for a round but I wont miss them when they go back in the garage bag. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  3. I would also question his definition of "with". I got to play Isleworth a few times and one times another guest was talking about how Tiger played with his group. Being that Tiger lived out there at the time I didn't think much of and just said awesome. But the member he was playing with quickly corrected him and said Tiger played through their group. The guest was determined to believe since he was on the course the same time as Tiger, he was playing "with" him. I honestly don't care when people say things like this. If they aren't putting words in the pro's mouth and it makes them feel better I see it as harmless. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  4. Gotta love those days where your score does not show how you played. I feel like I dodged a bullet when they add the scores up and I am a few shots lower than I felt I played. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  5. I was able to walk 36 today so I passed on my normal famous grouse and enjoyed an ice cold Mich Ultra. After drinking a gallon of water on the second round (thanks to this crazy hot Florida summer) I knew I couldn't take much more than a light beer. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  6. I am a computer engineer that worked for ten years in the data warehouse industry. Now I am self employed. I started a company with a few friends that specializes in providing traceability of agricultural goods from farmer to consumer. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  7. I walk between October and April. Outside of that is too hot to walk. That and during the summer I have family visiting so I play most of my golf during the week. So I am racing the sun on the last few holes. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  8. I got a whole 2 holes in before the bottom fell out on us. At least we were close to the club house. Gotta love Florida in the summer. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  9. Thanks. Even the Mrs. has given me her blessing just need to figure out what I like and what suits my game the best. I think I am going to test Callaway irons next. There's a demo day coming up a friend told me about so that will be a great opportunity to see their product line. And if any fellow spy's have any recommendations please let me know I am open to any suggestions. I know I'll need a stiff staff maybe even extra stiff. The last two demos I went to placed me right between the two. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  10. I know y'all are probably tired of hearing me talk about needing new irons but every time I get ready to pull the trigger something new is announced or there's a repair needed. I had a chance to hit the JPX 900 tours and forged the other day. I have to say I loved to looks of the tours at address and when you catch them on the screws they felt like a hot knife through butter. That being said the results the forged irons produced beat out the tours for my game. Both were tested with Project X LZ 6.0 shafts. I'll definitely be keeping these on a short list and make up my mind once I swing the new AP2s along with a few others. I am also interested in the new Ping G400s. While there is some concern about the stopping power of these irons due to the lower spin I have to say they look great and with the numbers they are putting out it would be worth testing these while I am in the market for new sticks. I am at the point in my game where if I can sneak some forgiveness in my irons at the sacrifice of some control that's fine. Below is a picture of my current AP2 5, 7, and PW. Just to show y'all I am not crazy saying I need a new set of clubs lol. As always I'll keep you all up to date as I try new clubs. If there's enough interest, maybe I could make a thread and treat it like a blog since I plan on demoing a lot of irons. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  11. Getting out there today. Hopefully all the magic is still there. I'll let y'all know how it went tonight. My mission today is focusing on a smooth/even tempo on all my shots. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  12. Shot a 75 this morning with zero 3 putts. My game felt great. It was one of those days where everything was going in my favor. Just missed a few greens with my 100 yard club but I can work that out on the range. I swapped back to my old putter and it's rolling great. Hopefully tomorrow's round will be similar. Here's a picture of the new/old gal. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  13. I had been lurking all the forum sites for golf for awhile. Everyone here seemed to be nice and welcoming so I decided to hope on in and try and get to know everyone. My wife loves it because it gives me people to talk gold tech with and not bother her when I see something late at night on golf channel. Although I am still "young" here I am having a blast. Thanks to all the "old timers" for their warm welcomes. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  14. So whose getting out today and where? I drew the Short straw and am stuck at work. I want to live through you all today. 😀 Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  15. I like how it's the ninth hole too. By then you are feeling confident in your tee ball or your or you've tossed the big dog in the lake and using a 3 wood. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  16. Up this morning, hopefully I can get a round in before the afternoon storms. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  17. I like the different styles that each reviewer brings here. I put a lot more faith in peer reviews on this forum. We are all golfers because of our passion for the sport. Many of us here don't earn a living in golf so the only skin we have in the review is our pride to supply the best information possible. The reviews here directly reflect the personality of the reviewers and you can easily see see that in the first couple of sentences. Sometimes I find myself reading past reviews just to be entertained instead of being interested in the product. But then I may learn something new and the next time someone mentions something in my foursome I can chime in and direct them to this forum. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  18. I like holes designed like that. A difficult hole should not always be a long hole. I like holes that have a risk vs reward shot off the tee. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  19. I really hope to have the opportunity to review something for you all one time. I love talking about golf equipment and helping others. I feel like there's a lot of fluff in traditional reviews. That's why I like the system here, it's a peer review. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  20. Wow I would like to see the 3000 word review on the ping irons. I love club tech talk and it could be a great read on a rainy day. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  21. We still play for five dollars a side. But it become more of a pride bet. Our handicaps are pretty honest so it's always a close game. I think we've passed the same five dollar bills around for the last three months. It's what you said though it's all for fun. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  22. Exactly, we are out there just to have fun and enjoy the time with friends. If everyone is given that same opportunities I don't see it as cheating. We do honor all rules when playing in tournaments tho. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  23. Awesome pictures ridgewalker. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  24. I agree, I am not going to risk breaking a wrist or worse a club due to a tree root. It's kind of an unspoken rule in our group. And we don't move the ball to a spot that's closer to the hole. If the ball is behind a tree though your coming out sideways lol. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  25. Figured I would put a few from my round on Saturday. Sent from my Pixel using MyGolfSpy mobile app
